*POSTAL* BLESSED AGAIN Christian Bookmark Card Swap, Due 6/30/09
BLESSED AGAIN!!
The couple of BLESSED Christian Card Swaps (BLESSED, and EVEN MORE BLESSINGS) have been so wonderful that I've decided to continue the series!
The theme of this swap is Christianity, and we are making bookmark cards to swap.
Description:
The cards may be for any occasion... and you must use some sort of Christian-based stamp, verse, embellishment, etc., and the card must have a matching bookmark as a part of it -- could be a perforated one that is a part of the actual card and tears off, it could be a bookmark tucked inside a pocket or inside the card, etc. The bookmark can be made with cardstock, ribbon/embellishments, etc. There are some wonderful ideas in the gallery if you search for bookmarks!
I can hardly wait to see all the creativity! If you would like to see results of the previous swaps, see my gallery and look at all the incredible cards that are listed as "BLESSED" or "EVEN MORE BLESSED" (Note the designer/SPS ID for each card is listed as well).
Size: This swap is for full cards (not just fronts) -- 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 or 6x6 size. Envelopes are not required, unless the card is not one of those sizes. Please use at least 2 layers of cardstock and at least one embellishment!
Quantity: 5 + 1 ~ You will NOT get one of your own back, so make sure you make an extra one for yourself.
NOTE: The +1 is going to either a local senior center here or the Veterans hospital residents. If you would like to also enclose extras for them, please feel free to do so! (We have a Christian Music Ministry, www.Ash2Ash.com, that plays concerts at those facilities throughout the year, and the extra will go to those.)Please mark any extras sent so I know they are intended for that.
Vendor Products: NVR on everything, but PLEASE use quality cardstock and remember to have at least two layers.
Deadlines:
Swap closes on 6/10/09.
Mail by 6/20/09. Must be to me no later than 6/30/09.
I will swap out that following week and mail back to you.
Mailing Instructions:
Please place cards in a large zip lock bag for waterproof purposes. Write the name of the swap, your SCS name AND your real name and mailing address on front of bag or on a piece of paper inside the bag.
Please include either a SASE with the same amount of postage on it that you needed to send to me, OR if you want me to reuse your envelope, that is fine, just be sure to include a mailing label and enough postage to send back to you.
- Send ONLY U.S. postage stamps or U.S. Cash please, NO DATED stamps or metered mail ~ this is NOT acceptable by my post office to mail your swaps back to you. I do not recommend Priority Mail as it isn't guaranteed any faster than First Class, and I recommend UPS or Fedex if cost is comparable.
Please be sure to write name of swap on outside of envelope to help me keep organized!!! Also, please write "PLEASE DO NOT BEND" on the envelope.
PLEASE PM ME WHEN YOU ARE READY TO SEND FOR MY ADDRESS.
Please be sure to post to this group when you send as well, and when you receive. I will also post on here when I receive and when I send back out!
Lots of Room for All, Can add more if needed, Never too many blessings!
Susan, I will start out with one spot, but I am sure as the list grows, I will expand too...LOL.
Just had an idea...I have some old Cardfronts that I am not going to use...from my SU demo days...would you want them to make into cards for your two places above? I will tuck some in when I get them sorted...some I bought on Ebay too a few years ago...but most are just cardfronts...

Hi Susan,
Put me down for one spot. But, like Teena, I may decide to create more.
I just looked at the gallery and found so many great ideas. For my own use, I like the laminated bookmarks, but I don't own the gadget to do that. Maybe the local print shop will do it.
I know you can also buy the laminate that is sticky backed and just do them that way though more messy. I bought a Purple Cow laminator online very inexpensively and can break that out for this too! THanks for the reminder!

Subbing right now .... finishing off swaps currently in and then will check back ... sounds totally lovely and everyone could use a Christian bookmark to light their way!

Vegaswife ... curious - what is the Great Smoky Mountains Girls Getaway or Bust 2009?
Some people that live near the Great Smoky Mountains are getting cabins in Gatlinburg and scrappin, stampin, shopping etc for the weekend. One of the main attractions is the Scrapbook Superstore....it is breath taking. Soooo if you are "in the area" you can join our crazy little group!Denise
BTW the "or bust" part has no hidden meaning. I have just heard it used...like "spring break or bust... state championships or bust"...just tryin to jazz it up a bit! LOL
When does this big getaway happen? How big is the Scrapbook Superstore - have never heard of it before?
We are having it the weekend of February 27. The size of "Your Scrapbook Superstore"(official name) is well...overwhelming. Lets just say that next door to it is a "little" discount store of theirs that everything is 50% off the lowest price. And to me the "little" store is about the size of a regular store. I always go there first. Then hit the big one! Plan on HOURS of shopping!
Sharing news of a new exchange I'm hosting --
It is for a Christian Prayer Journal -- You only make one to send to your assigned person by end of March.
Hope you'll join me!! http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...5#post12691815
Thank You Susan, for the warm wishes.
I am warm.... but only because I'm sitting here with a small electric heater blowing directly on my feet. I am ready for spring and it's only the middle of January.
Hi Everyone!
I got this in an email from a friend and wanted to share it with you:
Malachi 3:3 says; 'He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.'
This verse puzzled some women in a bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.
One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: 'He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.' She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire... If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, 'How do you know when the silver is fully refined?'
He smiled at her and answered, 'Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it.'
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His IMAGE IN YOU.
Pass this on right now. This very moment, someone needs to know that God is watching over them.
And, whatever they're going through, they'll be a better person in the end.

This was so for me today(as I am sure for others too). It brought tears to my eyes it "hit home" so hard. Thanks for posting!Denise
