A back to school poem- cuz' that happens in the fall
T’was the night before the first day of school,
and all thru the house
everyone so excited to see
what tomorrow might be.
The backpacks were hung
by the front door with care,
pencil boxes filled –
“Don’t touch,” yelled Mom- “Don’t even DARE!”
Sisiter in curlers, brother in jammies
both tucked in bed,
no TV, playstation, Xbox, or Whammies!
When out in the hallway there rose such a clatter,
I ran from my bed to see what was the matter?
Away to the door I flew like a flash,
smacked my head on the dresser as I made the mad dash.
When what to my eyes should appear,
but a miniature child all dressed for school, oh dear!
midnight had just struck on the cucoo-clock
a nightmare been had
Afraid that he might not be able to find his sock
I assured him all the new socks were still there
right next to his Scooby doo underwear
turned off the lights and tucked him in bed-
then pulled up the covers and kissed his sweet head.
Then morning came all fresh and new,
breakfast, chores, dressed, now new shoes
We were so excited as we drove to school
These kids knew they would be smart and cool!
First was Savannah the grown up girl
she wore her hair straight with just a little curl
GAGE Gator pride was what she had
No tears, just nervous, made mom so sad
Shawn saw his teacher and asked if he could go, I said, of course, yes you can!
He already knew he loved that beauty, Ms. Linderman!
“Happy first day to all!” mommies yelled
as they drove off to Panera, so happy no hands needed to be held!
Mommies in their mini vans all at Target
big huge smiles as they stroll the aisles
Peace at last, until Christmas break,
Then back to home to clean and to file.
We hope you enjoy back to school
as much as us Stay- at-Home mommies do!
