Description of Organization: Operation Write Home�s mission is, supporting our nation�s armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as �AnyHero� cards of gratitude to encourage them.
�AnyHero� cards are cards that you make, then write a message in appreciation of those serving in our Armed Forces. They should be handwritten and start something like: Dear Hero, Dear Soldier

1. Safety- No glitter or Stickles. Glitter is a safety hazard for our heroes. 2. Efficiency-A2 sized cards only, and include envelopes. 4.25″ x 5.5″ - half a sheet of card stock Do not send handmade envelopes. Send your cards to me and I will stamp Operation Write Home on the backs of your cards. Line cards made with dark card stock. If a pencil won�t show up, add a light color paper to the inside. 3. Specific requests by heroes and their families Use quality supplies.
Absolutely NO store bought cards.

For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not. hi friends, just a little information...If you have sent to OWH before and have a stamp for the back, feel free to stamp the back of your cards; it would save Sue some time. If you do not have a stamp, please do not worry about it, Sue is more than willing to stamp the backs...thank you all kindly!

I looked on their site and can't figure out if their stamp just has the name and logo or more. She did specify that you can just affix a label to the back or write it on, so it guess what I need to know is if we just need to put "Operation Write Home" or something more than that.

Adriana, Their stamp says, Operation Write Home. You can write it if you want, or you can send them to me and I will stamp them. I have ladies that visit once a month to make cards for OWH. Thanks for your envolvement. ~Sue

I have been out of commission for the last few months. My cards for March first went out in May. I am looking forward to making cards this month and actually getting them out in time! I love this cause.
If you go to the operation write home site there is a current video that they do not want tons of cards as donations. I have been contributing to Sandy and her cause for years and now she specifically want us to send cards to other charities and only a few to her because of the slow down. Please watch her videos.
We will be sending some cards to Operation Write Home and others to different groups who are on the cards for a cause year round. There is no shortage of groups needing cards. Thanks ladies for sending cards in.

You can stamp your name on the card backs. I do it all the time.

Thank you all for sending cards...Sue will use her discretion on sending cards to OWH. She also sends cards to them all the time. If she feels there are too many she will send them to one of our on going "causes". As she stated there are always organizations that need cards.

I have my cards started. Feels good to be back. Sue, thank you for finding homes for all the cards we send! Personally, I am glad OWH does not need all our cards. It just means our men and women are coming back home where they belong. Yeah!
Hi, all. I have a group that meets at my house monthly to make cards for OWH. I will send those directly; I have a whole box to send off.
And, a little off the main theme but I'm proud of what we achieved. After checking with OWH (Sandy's response was "Go for it!"), I contacted Scrapbook Expo and they graciously donated table space for us right on the main sales floor of the Santa Clara Scrapbook Expo this past weekend. We collected over 350 AnyHero cards for OWH!!
Scrapbook Expo would love to have an OWH table at ALL their shows around the USA. Still to come in 2014 are shows in St. Charles, IL; Somerset, NJ; Denver, CO; Mesa, AZ; Ontario, CA; Minneapolis, MN; and Sacramento, CA. Other locations they serve are Grapevine, TX; Pleasanton, CA; Anaheim, CA; Oaks, PA; Milwaukee, WI; Orlando, FL; Chantilly, VA; San Diego, CA; Puyallup, WA; and Duluth, GA.
If you think you might be interested in doing this, I can tell you what worked for us, and what I might have done differently.
I'm in this month! I was going to take a break this month, but I can't take a break when it comes to our military. I have a new stamp set to try out and I think it fits perfectly.
Just home from vacation with DH for our anniversary. I had some beautiful cards waiting to be opened. Cards were from:

I am a regular shipper to OWH. I just packed up a box of 60 cards to mail to them. Per Sandy's video, I reduced the number of Christmas cards that I included in my package -- including only 18.
Just mailed off 246 cards (I've been slow at mailing plus the 350 AnyHero cards. I have my group do mostly generic, any-time cards. There were a couple that are autumn themed but hopefully they can use 'em.

I have a stack of cards that I'll be sending along to Sue, but I have one more card besides this one that I'd like to make for the challenge theme...so it might not be until the end of this week before I get the cards mailed out.
