I used Stampscapes and covered with glitter - which makes the photo blurry - sorry!

eta:

This line is from the very first sketch challenge-

If you want to play, create a card using this sketch as inspiration - lets see how it inspires you

I don't mean to incite anything, I am just trying to figure out why things have changed so drastically.
From what I read it says to follow the sketch, am I right...I'm asking you?

Quote:
(from jlmhen) I agree with you....it was fun to see how everyone came up with different ideas based on the sketch. I'll miss the additional ideas!
I have had numerous request on what measurements are, I am trying to do what will help new players here.
But also, if you read back I have never until this week given exact measurements to follow and they are not exact, you can make your panel larger than the half inch from the edge, I'm just trying to insure a large panel this week and there is a big difference in making the panel one half inch compared to 1 1/2 inches from the edge.

I have in the past let those people that need a guide line know that they can look at my card and find measurements if the layout is not easy to figure out. Simple as that, I'm helping the new person with their request.

This week is just a little different in regards to the size but I just came from the gallery and I see plenty of beautiful cards made with what was asked for. Please keep in mind that many new stamper don't have the materials to do layers and this is a layout many of us started with and it's sort of going back to basics.

Since this presents a problem I will try to come up with a poll thread (if I can figure it out) and get the input to see what the majority wants...follow a sketch or do what you want and link it anyway.
Please go back to last weeks thread and you will see the statement that there are no exact measurements. I'm really sorry that one layout has you this upset!

Well, I should be in the gallery making comments so PM me personally if you still have a problem with this layout. Thanks for reading.

Here's my sample of todays. I just love using those wwc. I colored the sky with the crayons in various colors and took a 1 inch wide watercolor brush and blended all the colors for a sunset. Used the blender pen directly on the bottom of the crayon to apply color to the images, used markers to hilight the grasses.

I agree with Stampinselina. I've looked at cards for this challenge in the past and they don't look anything like the original sketch challenge card. I think if you are using the sketch given, your card should have the same lay-out as the sample card and not just "oh, I made this card so I'll upload it." Otherwise, why have a sketch challenge at all? Just my two cents for what they're worth (not much)!

I think that it is great to have a challenge -- but I get frustrated when an entire gallery gets linked - I can understand an error once in a while, hey - we all want our galleries to be admired - that is why we upload, right?

I can also understand Val's point of view - she is an AMAZING artist and AMAZING stamper. She is very good at out of the box thinking -- she sees the sketch and is able to just tweak it a bit - I don't think that is a bad thing.

I do believe that the sketch is supposed to inspire us - tweak it a bit - but don't tweak it so much that it no longer reflects the sketch.

VAL - I LOVE IT WHEN YOU TWEAK! Just Don't TWEAK around MISH -- she will think you are a cricket! AND SHE LOATHES CRICKETS! (TWEEEEAKKKKK)

This sketch was really hard for me. I don't have any "landscape" stamps and I wanted to do something other than a floral or OSW style card. I have been hoarding my chipboard, so here goes! It's really simple, but I think the size & boldness of the chipboard fills the space nicely. Thanks for looking!

I'm not upset and I didn't think my words read that way, they were just some facts about present and past challenges.
I had some request for measurements and told those asking that I couldn't put them on the sketch layout and said I would put them in my card description on some of the more involved layouts and for them to look there.

I would prefer we just forget all this and play the challenge! But no I'm not mad!

I think the sketch challenge is called such for a reason! I am thankful that Roxie takes the time and effort to do this for us! I too think that if a sketch is posted, it should look like the sketch, hence the challenge. And if you find it hard, again, CHALLENGE! I don't card if it is tweaked, BUT I also think we should be able to EASILY pick up the sketch. The cards today have been GORGEOUS! Thanks for posting so I could comment on your creations. Just my opinion, and I'm not posting this to try to start a war, just voicing MY opinion, not necessarily that of others!
