I have a similar question to Pam's. Is the part that you cut just a layer on the front of a regular rectangular card which opens at the regular folded edge? Or is it a special shaped flap which *is* the part you open?
I am really new to the challenges so perhaps I would know this if I had more experience...
In Roxie's directions, she calls the shape a panel. That makes it a regular opening card. However I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you made the the panel lift up if you want it to.
I like this challenge. I like the simple sketches as you can really add you own touch. I'll have to wait to try it out though -- I'm swamped helping a friend of mine who runs a scrapbooking shop. She is going to a local convention this weekend. Of course, we're still working on stuff!
But I DEFINITELY want to try this. Thanks so much.
First off....I'm a singin' with Beth!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROX!!!! Well, unfortunately, I have to make a sympathy card today(hate to be the rain on the birthday parade....but please keep my friend's family in your thoughts and prayers....they lost their 10mo old nephew do to an accidental suffercation). I didn't think I could use this sketch for such a card...but after seeing all the beautiful bouquets from this challenge, I think you may have given me a wonderful layout!

I was wondering the exact same thing...upon first looking at the sketch I thought the cut part was the top part of the card and designed to open. But it seems that some think it is just a layer on the front of a regular card so I'm so glad you asked that question. Thanks, now to look for the answer.

Ok, Miss Pink-Fish's card hooked me into this one! If you haven't looked at it...WOW! I think I'll wait to see the tutorial for today and see if I can to a 2-fer. Rox~ big birthday wishes to you, hope you have a wonderful day and upcoming year ahead!

Star,
Oh how tragic for your friend. I'm know she is hurting and it is so good that you can be there with her to lend a hand of comfort. I will keep the family in my prayers...I'm not sure anything is much worse than losing a child, and especially when they are young. Please give your friend my heartfelt thoughts and prayers.

Oh I'm so sorry. We lost our niece at 15 month in an accident (many years ago) so I know how tramatic this is. My thoughts are with them.

Thought I'd get away from Pink and flowers for a while. The colors are actually brighter than the scanner picked up. I really liked this layout b/c it doesn't need embellishments!
Ok, I finally got to stamp, YEAH! I wanted to try Roxie's challenge, since it was a birthday one, lol! I am very please with the way this card turned out, but I want to know, does it look balanced? Too many things on it? Not enough? It took me forever to get the size right for the panel part..then I went back and read the directions..DUH ME!! HEHEHE! I am going to send this to my MIL as a thinking of you card. I try to send her one every week but missed last week, so got to go make another one quick..lol! thanks everyone for looking, the image is still pending, but hope it gets approved soon!
Now that I am settled in my new apartment and my stamp studio is set up I plan to actively participate in the challenges. This one looks like fun. I can't wait to get home and start playing tonight. Think I can fake sickness and leave early from work??? Just a thought.
Question for those of you that uploaded cards, did you put them under the technique spotlight one? I tried to put it under painted garden as that is the stamp set I used and admin moved it to the embossing resist page..is that normal? Do I leave it there or move it to painted garden? HELP??

This is my first SCS challenge. I'm thinking this is a more healthy board to frequent- I don't need to do anymore BST! I'm guessing there's a higher probability of me using my supplies!!
Thanks Roxie for the challenge! I'll be watching for more (as the kids allow, of course!!).
Well i managed to get one done. Not how I planned it as I did read the directons but my head is spinning and I'm tired so I didn't cut my panel right! so here is my oops: (still pending)
Happy Birthday Rox! Haven't bee able to play lately...placing Mom in a nursing home so I only have time to browse lately and print off the challenges for future reference.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROX !!!!!!!!! What a great challenge. I can't wait to get started. One question though does the card open through the mider or does it open regular?
I'm sorry Pam I've been away from the computer all day. My cards are just a panel layered on the front and opens from the side just like a normal card that size.
I do hope you weren't waiting on me!
