Default Thanks for Wonderful Words of Comfort

Thank you everyone for your words of friendship, support and comfort.

You are right, I had to make a terrible decision but I even said out loud in front of the vet and to little Serenity that I was thinking of her and her quality of life rather than my own selfish need to have her with me. She had such a horrible seizure event that I just could not have that happen again (especially if it happened in the middle of the night again and I was not awake).

Cleopatra (my Maine Coon) and I are adjusting. We seem to be clinging to and comforting each other a lot these last two days. My brother is coming down from Olympia, WA for lunch tomorrow (3 hour drive). He's one of those guys that doesn't recognize that emotions are a human trait but he is coming down and providing what emotional support & love he can.

Thanks again.
Sandra

Caterina

I can't speak for Jane but she's a great gal and really, really, really supports and coordinates this thread for RMHC cards & stuff so I don't think she would mind this one little request.

You might want to mention the thread you "hang out at" with the random acts of kindness (where I'm sure you've posted Tyler's information many times ). Some people may not know about this thread.

Tyler will be in critical care for a few days. He would love to have cards to look at and hopefully lift his spirits.

Heart Hope everyone has a beautiful day today!

It's time for a break from those terrible storms we have been having in the midwest. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people who lost loved ones and property.

I promise! I'll get the paypal invoice done tomorrow, too. I'll have to get the weight before I can have the price done. It should be about the same as it was the last time, though!

Sorry that I've been so out of touch. I feel like my life has just been way too crazy lately! You are not nagging, just giving me gentle reminders... which I need!!!

I'll let you know as soon as it's postal!

Cool Just checking in!

I hope everyone is doing OK! It's been pretty quiet lately! Did you have a good 4th of July??? Do anything special??? My neighbor has a party every year, and does an hour long fireworks display. It is pretty fun. We live in a small town, and it is basically the town fireworks, because our town doesn't put on a display!

Cool Hello everyone!

Hope everyone is having a good time this weekend. It is finally hot in Wisconsin, so I'm finally being able to enjoy the pool! I am having trouble keeping up with the weeds in the gardens! I did some weeding yesterday, but I balanced it with powerwashing the back of the house and driveway. I also picked Raspberries. I'm having a bumper crop this year! I'm getting ready to make some preserves.

I also had a good week with dog adoptions. I got 4 dogs adopted this week! YEAH! Hopefully, I will have 2 more adopted next week, too.

I just sent in cards for a Geek Swap that I joined, and when I get those back, I'll get cards together to send to a couple of my houses! I'm going to Minneapolis in a couple weeks, so I'll just bring cards up there to drop off!

Has anyone sent any cards in to a Ronald McDonald House???

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Stay Cool,
Jane

I don't know how I missed your message! Thanks for asking! I'm all done with therapy, and am now riding my bike around the neighborhood after years of not being able to ride it! I'll be able to ride the horses this fall. It is so nice to be able to go up and down the stairs with little to no effort! So, to answer your question--- I FEEL GREAT!!!!!! Thanks for asking!

I also appreciate all the help everyone gives me with this project! I couldn't do it by myself!!!

Hugs!

Jane

Glad to hear you are recovering so well. Swimming should be great exercise for you. Bicycling? I haven't done that for years and I have no excuse except laziness.

Have a great week!

Congrats on getting some of your 4-legged sweeties adopted.

Cool Hope everyone has a good week!!!

I'll have a great week when my kitchen gets finished!!!

I've been terrible about posting! BUT, my kitchen is ALMOST done, so hopefully life will soon get back to normal, again!!! I have the backsplash to tile and the range hood to install. They still have a piece of the countertop that they forgot to install-- behind the stove, so I can't tile the backsplash until this is done-- hopefully this week! They said that they should be able to be piece it in and the seams should not be visible. I'm hoping that is the case. They also have some shelves that did not come in with my cabinetry, and some endcaps that will finish the bottom of a few of the cabinets above the windows where you can see the unfinished bottom. Hopefully this will be able to be finished this week also! SO, maybe next week, I'll be able to finish up the tile work and the range hood. Then, I just have to get everything back in the cabinets!!!

Martha, I'll add your cards to the totals! Thanks for letting me know!!!

Question Is there anybody out there???

It's been so very quiet on the thread, lately! I guess everyone is busy with summer!!!

It's going to be hard for me in another week, because I have both of my kids home from college, and they will both be leaving again next week. I can't believe that the summer is almost over already! I barely feel like we had any, because it hasn't been very warm in WI!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Hope to hear how yours is going!!!

Hi Jane, Hope all is well, the summer has passed me by and I have so gotten behind on getting cards done for my house. I took 70 in last week and they were out, first time they have run out since I started working with this house. So I want to send out an all out plea for a few extra cards to be sent to me for the Little Rock House. I think I will host a swap and call it Extra Cards for Ronald McDonald House!

Cool Glad to help, Martha!

Thanks for letting me know about the number of cards you took to your house! I just got a note from Judy (pianolady1026) that she also took 65 cards to her house! That is 135 cards towards our total!

I'd be happy to help with your swap, too Martha! Thanks for caring so much!

Hugs,
Jane

PS: I'm happy to say that I think I'm ALMOST done with my remodeling! I have a little more tiling to do for the backsplash, but it doesn't really look bad without being done. I just have to have some time to finish it. I moved my son into his new apt for college this past week, and next week, I have to go up to the Twin Cities to help my daughter move into her new apt. Hopefully, they will both stay put for a while, and I don't plan on doing any more remodeling for a while. I'm tired!!!

Jane...

Hi! I've been off the internet & SCS for about 3 weeks now. I've only checked my email sporadically, otherwise I've just ignored the cyber space.

I'm kinda in a place of...."I'm lost"....frame of mind. I need a bit of a focus.

I think I'm ready for you to explain to me all about working with a RMH - what is my commitment? how do I get the cards to the House? who do I coordinate with? ETC.

I don't know anything about either of the two houses in Portland, OR. Although Portland is over an hour away, it's much, much closer than Bend.

Can you help me out? Thanks!

Heart I'd love to help you out!

Hi Sandra!

Sorry to hear that you've been in a funk. I know how that goes! I'd be THRILLED to talk to you about adopting a house in OR. I send cards to the Marshfield, WI house which is over 3 hours away, and also to the MN houses, which is the next state over!!! The closest house is actually an hour away for me, too!

Basically, you just have to send them cards! You should call them to let them know you will be sending them cards, for the staff to give to the people who stay at the house, and also for the people who stay there to use as they need. Usually, the house director takes care of this, but in some of the larger houses, they have someone else who handles it, but the director can give you their info. You really have to call, because they don't answer e-mails very often, I'm not sure why.

I mail the cards. I put them in a regional rate box, which is cheaper than the flat rate boxes, but you have to sign up for an account with the USPS. Then, you buy the shipping label with postage on line. I can give you the info if you want to look into this or you can just mail them regular mail.

I'm so happy that you want to help out EVEN MORE! You have been a big help so far, and now you will be an even bigger help!!!

Hugs,
Jane

65 cards to my RMH today (Madison) they were so happy to see more cards as they were running low. The ladies at the desk were looking at each one individually when I was leaving......

Jane (or Barb or Cindy), do you accept used stamps? My mom and I are considering cleaning out and pairing down the stamp room, and we may have a bunch of stamps to donate. They would be in used (some well used!) condition, but still in very good working order.

I have taken stamps to the house I donate items too--I have taken full SU sets as well as other single stamps. If you want to send some my way, I will take them there soon.

Thanks for asking!

Good to know! I know that there are quite a few SU sets, and probably some single stamps as well. When we get to the sorting part, I'll see what there is to go and let you know if a box is coming your way!

I'm glad that they are enjoying them! I have some to bring to the Madison house as well! Hopefully after I drop mine off, they will be set for a while!

I'll add your total to the list!

Barb,

I will also make up card kits for some of the smaller stamps. It is a fun way to fill an afternoon for the kids!

If you want to put some together, I can round up some help!

Thumbs up I just packaged up cards for 4 houses!

I am going to be sending about 500 cards out in total. These cards are going to the Madison, WI house, the Marshfield WI house, the Milwaukee, WI house and the Minneapolis, MN house!

I'm sending a variety of cards including Holloween, Thanksgiving, thank you, birthday, anniversary, congrats, baby, thinking of you and more! I didn't include Christmas cards, because the boxes were STUFFED to the max!!!

I thought this would put us over the 15,000 mark, but I think we are a bit short! Maybe I will box up cards for the Rochester, MN house tomorrow! (today actaully I didn't realize it was so late!!!

I'll update my totals tomorrow when I add all the card box totals together!

Martha,

Thanks for letting me know! I will add them to the totals! It is so nice that you get to see the people of the house and know how much they appreciate them. I miss a little of that because I mostly mail my cards in! They always send a thank you card, but it isn't quite the same thing!

Hugs,
Jane
