Default Injured Marine would love some cards!

I come here with a request from my friend Leah---who is right now in Germany. But here is her email to me:
Marines:

We have a young Marine, Cpl Shane Hathaway who underwent surgery yesterday, 30 August 2010. He was shot 4 times. His family has said he would love to receive cards and letters to cheer him up. So lets do it.

Send to:

Cpl Shane Hathaway, USMC

Surgical Unit 5th Floor

National Naval Medical Center

8901 Rockville Pike

Bethesda MD 20889-5600

So naturally, I thought of all my SCS sisters---let's flood him with cards to cheer him up. Thanks!

Wink Happy to send a card

Thanks Wendy for the suggestion. My brother was a Marine also, served in Vietnam and my husband was in the Air Force, Frighter Training unit.

I will make him a special card and get that out my tomorrow. Marti

I'm always happy to send a card to a service man or woman... and bless you for passing this along. Card will be in the mail tomorrow.

bumping this up

would it be better to send silly cards, religious cards, or get-well cards?

I would say "cheer me up" cards---funny or get well, but whatever you want to send will brighten his day, I'm sure. Thanks

I'll be happy to send the Corporal a card. I was in the service myself many years ago.

My near four year old is now in the process of creating a story book for Cpl. Hathaway. I too am former military.

I posted pictures of Koen's project for Cpl Hathaway in my blog. It'll be in the mail in a day or two.

I feel a sense of amusement for the poor folks in Bethesda though. By the time a lot of this mail is going to get there, Cpl Hathaway will probably have been moved to another area of the hospital. Forwarding a letter or two is one thing... but the sheer volume we tend to come up with here? *grin*

What a mailman's dream! More cards for Cpl Shane going out as cardmaking continues. Guy colors enveloped today's crafting.
