Default DD Made Level 5 Team

I am just so proud of my daughter for making the level 5 team at her gym. We thought she would end up competing level 4 but she worked so hard this summer and was told today that she would get to skip 4 and move up a year early.

She has her kip on both low and high bar. Her tap swings are coming along. On beam, she is actually working on skills for level 6 so that will be exciting to watch. She has her handspring vault but needs to harness her power a bit to stick her landing. On floor, she has a gorgeous front handspring, punch front, and back handspring.

So Bella.....I am so proud that you worked hard, even on days you were tired or just didn't feel like going to gym. I'm proud that you didn't quit, rarely pouted, and never whined...even when having your coaches push you down into splits. You amaze me, baby girl.

Your pride shines through in your post, and I can tell that your DD genuinely loves the sport. Congratulations to her on her achievements! She's lucky to have such a supportive mom.

I will be watching for her in the 2020 Olympics!

I AM proud of her. I've even almost forgiven her for not wanting to take ballet all these years. But even I must admit that this sport is a much better fit for her than dance would be.

Congratulations. I know how exciting that can be. With that kind of dedication, she will probably go through level 5 and 6 rather quickly. It seems like the girls that were really dedicated seemed to move through those two levels pretty darn fast.
I'm surprised that they don't incorporate ballet into the gym training. When Ari was in level 5, they had 45 minutes of ballet a week along with the rest of their gym training. I just wish that Ari would have stuck with it longer, but she decided that she enjoyed baton more, so baton won out.

At L5, she will start getting dance for gymnastics but it won't be formal ballet. They will spend an hour and a half on Fridays working on dance. I'm trying not to think ahead to L6. That is SUCH a killer level.

I twirled baton in high school and I think it's awesome that Ari is doing it. You find so few girls these days who twirl. It was so much fun!

Yeah, she has tried many, MANY things, but Baton is the one thing that has stuck! She is excited because they are planning a trip to Disney World for a competition in 2014. I know that seems way off, but I'm sure it will be here in no time! I wish that the marching bands in our area included baton. They have the color guard, but she doesn't want to twirl a flag, she wants to twirl a baton! LOL She has just discovered volleyball too. I don't know how long she will be into it, but she is going to try out for the middle school team this year. Thankfully, she always has baton as her constant! I do wish she would have stuck with Gymnastics. I loved sitting at the gym watching all of the girls practice, especially the older girls.
