Maple Leaf New Icon for Sellers Willing to Ship to Canada!! :)

After some feedback from our users from Canada for whom the Buy/Sell forum was frustrating, I've added a maple leaf post icon.

Please (only) use this item when you list a For Sale thread if you are willing to ship to Canada .

This way Canadian buyers can quickly look through the threads and know which ones apply to them.

This icon can also be used for intra-Canadian sales .

I have some and am willing to ship to Canada - but not sure where the "maple leaf" is shown to put on my listing. If there's anyone in Canada wanting anything, ask, I might have it - I'm getting rid of most all my stamp sets.

Splitcoaststampers was started to support SU demos. As far as I know, you can only sell *retired* SU stamps here. It's only fair to those selling the products. I hope that makes sense.

That is really bizarre! Tons of people sell retired SU sets here. If I were you, I would start a discussion thread in the main forum and ask there.

They just emailed me back - I updated my post. Active demonstrators cannot sell beyond the borders of their country.

I've been refused numerous times by US sellers due to just not willing.

Default Does anybody know if there are any difficulties with shipping to Canada?

That is great news and I would like to consider that option too, but are there any customs declaration limitations with shipping to Canada?
Thanks,

I will be going through my stamps soon and am willing to ship to our Canadian friends! I am puzzled as to why it is an issue. Can someone enlighten me? I checked the shipping and it is very costly, but wouldn't the buyer pay the shipping? If a couple friends got together and shared the cost, it wouldn't be so bad. What am I missing?! I know it is more paperwork. Anything else?

Could be lots of things.

Could just be sellers feel bad about having to give a huge shipping quote. (I personally always try to make sure my buyer knows that if shipping is a deal breaker for them, it's okay, I get it.)

Could be sellers uncomfortable with filling out the customs forms.

I do believe that you are supposed to take most foreign parcels to the post office; that can be anywere from a minor inconvenience to major hassle.

For people that only ship priority mail (probably because they've gone ahead and gotten the free USPS boxes sent to their home in bulk), it is a hassle to go buy bubble mailers or small boxes to accommodate non priority mail shipments (and yeah you can ship priority mail to other countries but that's super SUPER expensive).

There's usually no tracking on international first class parcels; that can be a pain if you get in a dispute with a buyer (paypal usually sides with the buyer if there's no way to confirm delivery). And since shipping to Canada can sometimes be lickety split or sometimes take WEEKS, I think some sellers just don't want to deal with the uncertainty of that.

Thanks for your comprehensive reply! This last one would make me nervous, so I guess that's why most would go for Priority International which is indeed expensive. Still, used sets go for so little that if someone or a group of friends put together a large order, they would still be ahead and could build a collection. As long as the buyer knows about the shipping cost and the possible long delivery time, I think it would be OK. None of those sticking points are the seller's fault!
