I just started The Judas Strain by James Rollins. So far, it is FAN-Tastic. It is the 3rd and final book in the series I mentioned a few months ago, I finally got ahold of it via the library.

I have been so impressed with this author. His work is fiction, but he bases it on actual scientific and historical fact, and then runs with it from there.

I just finished the book, Losing It by Valerie Bertinelli. It was a quick read and I enjoyed it. Somethings were a little bit of a surprise but I won't spill any beans.
Next on my list is Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. I adore the movies so I thought I would see what the book is like.

I just finished "Comeback", can't remember the author, but, what a good book. It's a true story about a mother's struggle to save her daughter from drug addiction and the rebuilding of their relationship.

I am not reading Eat, Pray, Love and so far I'm liking it. She's in Italy eating and learning Italian with the 'twin'.

I just got done reading a true story of family murder and madness. Name of the book was House of secrets. By Lowell Cauffiel.

very detailed book. I must say I can't believe there are people out there who do these things or make their kids do these kinds of things. very sick people. I felt really bad for some of the younger kids. Who really can't tell what is right from wrong. and the parents let them believe it is the right thing to do.

This same author has other stories that are true stories also.

Not sure if anyone here ever read his books. if you have how are his other books and are they worth reading.

I just finished "Nineteen Minutes". I must say WOW. Very good. If you have read "My Sister's Keeper" pick this one up also.

I have now started the "Shoot the Moon" for my book club.

I have just started to read Steve & Me by Terri Irwin.
I have only read a chapter or so (I read on my commute to work) but it looks like it is going to be an easy read & is going to be interesting.

You're tougher than me. Lately I haven't been able to handle Picoult's books. Not that they aren't good, they're just too deep for me to handle right now. I've been known to dwell a little too long on them once I've finished.

I just finished Amazonia (a research team goes deep into the Amazon to discover what happend to a previous team that disappeared) and Excavation (an Archeological dig uncovers the remains of an undiscovered pyramid in South America) by James Rollins. So good! I give them both two thumbs up for great story lines. Right now I'm working on another of his books, Subterranean, about an ancient colony discovered beneath the Earth's surface. It's somewhat similar to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (though I just started it, so it might veer off somewhere..).

James Rollins has easily become one of my favorite authors. Now I only wish he would write faster!

I love mystery that has humor ith it...does that sound odd...well, right now I'm reading "Thou Shall Not Grill" by Tamar Myers...and it's so funny....she's a Minonite (not quite Amish) who investigates a murder in her little down. Truly funny.....

I just started Jodi Picoult's new one, and then I'm going to read Valerie Bertinelli's book. THere is no school tomorrow so I should get a lot of reading done. Next to stamping, reading is my favorite thing to do.

Well, earlier this week I finished the last of the James Rollins books carried by my library. To my dismay. So, I'm going to check if there are any others out there I can get through ILL.

In the meantime, I'm reading The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. It's alright so far, but not quite as good as the Rollins books. I think I'm still disappointed in Preston for making so many errors in the book I read a few months ago. Heck, there might be that many errors in this one, but it isn't based in my own backyard so I haven't a clue.

Let us know what you think when you finish it. Sounds interesting.

I just finished the "Shoot the Moon" it was okay. IMO not the best book that I have read. Not really thought provoking, just a book that you would read for fun.

Don't get me wrong I like the read for fun books, but I also like the ones that make you wonder "What would I do in that situation?"

Default Home to Holly Springs

I just finished 'Home to Holly Springs.' I picked it up at the library on Thursday and could not put it down. I was having a little trouble reading it in many places. The tears in my eyes made the words shimmery. The problem with reading a book so fast is that you have to wait such a long time for the next one!

Default I just finished reading...

... The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. It's about a woman who runs a detective agency in Africa. Not what I typically read so it was a little slow getting into it. By the end I kind of liked it.

Next I'm going to read The Cat Who Sniffed Glue by Lilian Jackson Braun. First time I've read anything of hers so we'll see how it goes.

I'm getting into Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake series. She's a vampire hunter/reanimator (she can bring corpses back to life as zombies) who works with the St. Louis police. They deal with vampires, ghouls, and zombies on a regular basis. It's kind of a hard-boiled detective series with supernatural criminals. It also kind of reminds me of "Pushing Daisies" a little bit. They bring the zombies back to life to settle will disputes, or testify about who killed them. The're pretty funny books.

I recently finished MURDER BY NUMBER by Kaye Morgan, a pretty good Sudoku murder mystery, and am now reading DADDY'S GIRL by Lisa Scottoline. The later is so good I nearly missed my bus stop yesterday afternoon, I was so into the story!

I just barely started it and I like it so far.

Also, on my list is "Memory Keeper's Daughter". I have a friend that read is and loved it. Plus, I am waiting to see the movie until after I have read the book. I am weird like that!

I just started the new Jodi Picoult, Change of Heart, so far so good, as with most of hers. I just finished The Memory Keepers Daughter, it was slow in the beginning for me then it got better. Did anyone see the Lifetime Movie adaptation? I did, and to me it wasn't worth the time. They left out key points in the book. I know they have to cut it down, but this one did not work for me.

Have a great day.

If you like Stephen King, try "Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill. It was a great scary ghost story very much in his tradition. (As it should be, since Hill is his son!)

Wow, I didn't know that. I read Heart Shaped Box and I really liked it. I didn't know that he was Stephen Kings son. Thanks for the info.

I also read the Memory Keepers Daughter, the book was better than the movie. I didn't care for the actors in the movie.
