Has anyone else read this? I LOVED it! I'm waiting for the second one from the library.
"In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death – televised for all of Panem to see.
Survival is second nature for sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to feed her mother and younger sister by secretly hunting and gathering beyond the fences of District 12. When Katniss steps in to take the place of her sister in the Hunger Games, she knows it may be her death sentence. If she is to survive, she must weigh survival against humanity and life against love."
I read the first two books back in January and loved them. I have the final book in the trilogy, MOCKINGJAY, but have not got round to reading it yet. Maybe over the coming weekend...

My daughter recommended "The Hunger Games", and gave them to me. Since then, I've read them all, as has most of my office!! Once you get over the premise of the book, they're really good.
We are very much looking forward to it at our house. My daughter read all the books and I read them after her. I agree with some of the earlier commenters that the last one was a little hard to get through. I thought it was maybe because I was looking at a teenager's decision making and reactions through an adult's eyes. I got a little annoyed with Katniss in that book, but overall enjoyed them and, from the looks of the trailer for the movie, the adaptation will be pretty spot on.
I just finished reading all three. I also found the last book difficult to get through. I can't get the books out of my mind, though. Just scary to think that there could be a government system that works the way Panem does. Not necessarily the Hunger Games, but in general.

Same here. I also saw the movie trailer and thought it was interesting. (Though I admit, I'm usually disappointed when a book goes movie. . .)
