I used to write just about everyday in the contest at poetry.com. I've been trying to do that again to keep my mind active. The link for the site is: http://www.poetry.com/haiku/haikucontest.asp
I'll share:
trees in stil waters
growing steadily through time
reach toward the sky
I used to write Haiku's when I was in high school. Haven't done them in years. I submitted a poem to poetry.com a long time ago.

I just went to poetry.com and found my poem. The title is What is Love? if you want to check it out!

Last year I tried to teach my third graders to write them That was a challenge! Most of them got it and some were very good. Others just weren't ready for it.
God so loved the world
Hope brings peace and calms my soul
Now my joy is full
Paperwork galore
But no one ever reads it
Why do I bother?
(sorry - I just finished with a committee meeting here at work and the follow-up paperwork is on my brain)
Stretching to the sky
Seeking sun and fresh spring air
Easter flowers bloom
Ink on my fingers
Stamp and punch and tie a bow
The joy of my craft
This thread made me laugh. A guy in High school had a crush on me and he used to write me Haiku that all ended with my name. Yes, he was a dork. But it was very flattering at that age where the other guys were still speaking in monosyllables.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Its been a LONG time, middle school and high school .. we did haiku's diamonte's, and several others. I still have them though put away for my kids. I love writing...
I submitted a short poem to poetry.com.... it was accepted... just haven't done anything else with it since then.... will have to find the letters and the poem again... LoL
Been thinking about compiling them and then attempting to get my poems published... who knows.... a friend of mine got his book published... through an independant publishing company... maybe some day...
course I am thinking I need to write a book with tips for Disney world. I have so much knowledge about that place stuck in my head- even urban legends about different attractions being haunted...
Back to the op.... most of my poems don't rhyme any more, like free line poems now...and how I feel at the time.

stranger at the door
-you have a sign for S.U.! ...?
unexpected joy
doorbell ring sounds off
whatever could that be now?
u.p.s. man smiles
U.P.S. truck comes
acronym for all that's good
addiction appeased
little naturist
despis-ed clothes discarded
New backyard Eden
how can I punish?
I admire his defiance,
creativity
4 year old small man
exasperating Mama
mischevous talent
this is fun
I'll be back.
(I have too many words anyway)

I wrote 2 more last night on the message board in the kitchen...
I guess when you are sleep deprived the pattern just goes straight into the subconscious...
after 4 books with ds I'm often unable to stop speaking Seuss-ically, sometimes for a week!
I'll post them later... too uncoordinated to do stairs... must rest!
someone else try

it always floors me that we keep 'em high round and proud using extaordinary harnesses and contraptions...mostly, let's be honest , for men
...and then the dr.s ..men... can only find one way to test them...squashing them!
seems fishy to me...
they don't have squashers for their ....part...!
If men had boobs, not only could we women relax,
among happy infantile men,
there would probably be no b.c. at all!
there would be a little pink diamond pill instead of annoying and unnecesary viagra!
I hope your test results were negative in the positive way...
sorry for the hi-jack!
