I completely agree. Names make us all seem more connected. You should consider adding your name to the signature line on your posts so we can reply to a name.

Okay, I am extremely nervous and can't believe I'm even doing this but here goes...

I would love for you all to take a look at my blog as well and let me know what you think> Just go easy on me!! I am very new at this whole blogging thing and clearly not as computer literate as all of you and don't know ANYTHING about code - If it not in a template or simple to 'modify' then it just isn't happening!!! I certainly don't have the money to pay for a pretty and fabulous blog either! Most of your blogs are absolutely amazing and I am in awe of your knowledge and talent!!

Morning Stacy,

I just went and had a peek at your blog. Cute cards.

The first thing that stood out to me was your header and the text color. I like your header graphic, but I thought the blue text might be a little hard to read, but it ended up being just fine.

The only other thing that really jumped out at me were the all caps where you were asking for comments for your give away. All caps is like screaming at someone. Maybe try changing the font color when you want to emphasize something.

As for not knowing the code and dressing up your blog. That just takes some time and some fiddling. It looks like you are pretty new to blogging. I say "Google" EVERYTHING! You won't learn how to do it until you try...and we all have to start somewhere! I fiddle and mess with code and google the parts I don't know. My blog has evolved over the years

Have fun with it...and if you are worried about messing it up, copy and paste the original code somewhere safe so you can put it back if you want/need to.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my site and post comments. I went back and edited several of my posts removing anything about the giveaway (my big item didn't pan out anyway). I also went through and corrected any caps! I tend to use them to emphasize - I never want anyone to think I am "screaming" so like I said, I went and changed them all (I hope I found them all!!) Maybe after my son starts school and I have more time I will look into the design aspect of it all or have some spare money to just have one designed for me. So far, it's just a place to showcase my fun times with my personal friends and now my new friends here at SCS!!! Thank you again for your time and advice!!

Holy Cow! What a great blog - both for design and content. Your work is amazing. I love the sewing, especially. Dang, how do you sew such perfect circles?

Only one comment. At the very bottom of your blog you have what I think is a blog visitor counter, but beneath it it says "lowest prices." ???

Love it!

Thumbs up Need Help / Feedback on New Blog

Hello everyone!

My NEW blog has been a difficult "work in progress" for several months now. If you check it out you can see for a long time I was just posting information from Stampin' Up! and a couple of interesting articles from other people.

Well, last night I decided to commit myself to DAILY blog entries (in addition to any Stampin' Up! news).

PLEASE.... check me out and give me feedback! Constructive ideas/comments.

Thanks so very much! I did not know this thread was here and now I'm very excited about getting your help.

OK I have been working on mine since I think the first post was 2008 never got the hang of it. Went to Stampin Up Leadership and decided to take the active plunge I updated things and even added a page so I have a home and Tips and Techniques. I may add a few more pages but I don't know if I should or would it be to busy for folks to look at and search around on. I was also thinking of adding adds to make money but I don't know if I want someone business on mine? Thought and helpful comments would be great.

Silke, I like your blog design. It's clean and simple, without a colorful background image distracting from the important stuff. I like how you've organized the menu and your header image is so cute.

I am using the same wordpress theme on my self-hosted blog, and I really enjoy it because it gives you so many options.

Oh, and I like your card style.

Silke - Wowzer! Man, just so many wonderful things to say about your blog. It's amazing. I'm totally coveting your photography skills. Your pictures are so bright and captivating. From everything I've read it looks like you're following best practices. Love your about me page. It has everything. We get to know you, your blog, and that you're interested in your readers, and you have a call to action. Bravo! The pictures there are amazing, too. My only tiny, tiny comment is that I was intermingle the pictures with the text. People skim and don't like big, long paragraphs. You might capture more if your pictures aren't at the bottom of the page. (But, don't look at mine - my About page is bunch of big long paragraphs - I need to fix that.)

I also noticed you don't have a footer because, as we scroll down the page, it adds the next group of posts. I'm kind of on the fence about that because footers can be great real estate. But, then, you have everything you need elsewhere, so great job.

Finally, such a great blog deserves more readers, but the only way to subscribe is through e-mail and RSS feed. Have you considered having a Facebook or Twitter link? Just an idea.

Yvonne, I really like your blog too. I think it's a great idea to write in both languages, German and English.
I love how you incorporated your Dawanda store into your blog. This is something I might consider doing once I reopen my Etsy store. Not sure if it is possible with my free wordpress blog though...
Your cards are fabulous by the way!
I would love to subscribe to your blog but noticed that some of the links on your about me page, including the one to subscribe to your blog, don't work .
Thanks again for your feedback!

Thank you for your feedback and kind words Linda!
I will think about your suggestion of mixing the pictures with the text. I actually had a similar thought this morning .
My Facebook and Twitter info is listed on my contact page but I guess it wouldn't hurt to include it on my about me page as well . Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog!

Silke, I love it. And, inspired by you, I brought my picture on my about page to the top of the page and added a husband/wife photo. But, my photography isn't nearly as good as yours. So envious!

I follow a blog called Momcomm . She critiques blogs and is focusing these days on About pages. I think she'd give you an A+++.

I love your updated "About Me" page Linda. The photo of you and your husband adds a nice touch. Just a couple of things that I would change: in your menu bar, I would move the "About Me" page between "Home" and "Recipe Swap". Also, I would move your "Contact" page and make it the last section in the menu.

If anyone is interested, I updated my blog with a summary of all the changes that I've made to my blog lately (I talk about my new theme & banner, my newly added About Me page, portfolio etc.).

Ah, thanks! I love WordPress - so versatile. There's a plug in for just about anything I'd ever want to do.

I love your blog and your design. Clean and simple is in, not just for cards but for blog design, too. You mastered it.

I have only one suggestion that's not really a criticism, just a suggestion. On your side bar, your Categories and Archives take up a lot of real estate. You might consider having them display as a drop-down menu instead of as a list.

Thanks for taking a look and for the suggestion! Changed to dropdowns now. It does look more clean that way and more spacious!

If you are using blogger there are premade templates and layouts that you can use. It's really fairly simple. Once you create your blog you can play around with the settings, layout, template, colors, etc.

When I first started my blog and I didn't know anything about it, but I figured it out as I went along. Sorry that's not much help, but really you need to just jump right in.

Oops. I only just read this. thanks for your feedback! Have to check on the links. You can find the rss feed to my blog in the sidebar.

Do you have a wordpress.com blog or is it self hosted on your own webspace? If it's self-hosted, you definitely can add your etsy store, that's what I've done to (I am using the same wordpress theme that you have on your blog).

Chaitali-
I am trying to start my first blog. I was wondering why you changed from blogger to wordpress. Since I am a "newbie"- which one is easier to learn. I already have a .com name, just don't know what to do with it. do I start a website or a blog? any suggestions would be welcomed from the bottom of my heart. ! Jan

Jan, definitely go with Blogger if this is your first blog! Its easier for beginners to setup and post to. You will be all set and blogging in just a few minutes!

There are many free templates for Blogger to make your blog pretty so definitely look them up. I got my blog header designed from Megan Klauer (Megan Klauer Design). She is awesome!

As for your domain name (.com name) thats great you purchased it already! Blogger allows you to link it to your blog so people can access your blog by typing in that name instead of .blogspot.com. So definitely make use of that!

Hope this helps! Goodluck with your new blog

okay, I'm just getting started... so "gentle" criticism and suggestions, please.

I change the background, colors and fonts about every other day which is a big sign to me that I'm still not happy with the design

I haven't added an about me, I probably should... but can't think of anything clever.

Tails From a Krafty Kitty

and I'm still on the hunt for the perfect "watermark" for my cards!

ok........ let me have it
