Angie - You're doing great! There's lots to love. I have a bit of a hearing impairment, so I appreciate that your videos are set loud enough for me to hear. Some on other blogs are so soft, it's really frustrating. That bold pink really shocked me at first - but it also makes your blog memorable, so rock on. The only real suggestion I have is that the picture of yourself is so low on the page. I'd bring that up a little higher on your side bar so people can connect with you and recognize you as you make adjustments to your blog. Great job!
Oh I'm so glad to find this thread .. I'm a fairly new blogger (6 months) and I have already changed my blog background/header/pages multiple times.
I'm currently going clean and simple - but I'm not sure if clean and simple = boring.
would love someone to take a look and give me some constructive feedback.
Thanks so much
Steph (blog addy in my sig)
Steph - I love your blog. I'm a huge fan of clean and simple because it makes the reader see what they really came to see anyway - your projects. As you can tell by my blog - I totally dig the white and simple background. I don't find it boring, but I also don't see anything that "brands" you - makes you unique. To keep your blog simple, maybe you can find just one image to work as an icon for you. You could include that icon in watermarks of your projects, at the end of your post . . . maybe just an image with text that works as your signature.
One other little thing. Under each title it says "by Admin". It's kind of stating the obvious. Can you get rid of that?

Love, love your projects!
Thanks so much Linda for the compliment and the feedback
... lots of food for thought (re. branding).
I'm definately going to look to see how to remove the admin - it came with the template but I'm sure my tech guy can fix it somehow.
Hi All, I'm really glad I found this thread - I'm loving all of the different types of blogs everyone is posting, and I've added a few to my 'following' list. I particularly like the more simple ones which is making me feel a bit self concious about mine - I'm brand spanking new to blogging so any criticisim good or bad that anyone would like to tell me I am open to!!
Love the background Cathy! Especially with the font, it makes it a memorable visit. The only thing I noticed is that you don't have either a search tool or tags to search for certain subjects. I personally think they're helpful - and it's easier to start using them early.

Reason: spelling - sheesh!
Cathy - I think you've got a great start. I see you added the search tool, so you're rockin' on. I like to subscribe by e-mail but a lot of people seem to like Google Friend Connect. And, I'm not sure I saw a link to your Facebook. Good job.
I desperately need advice! My blog is just 3 days old and I worry that I am in the twilight zone - my blog doesn't have tutorials so it isn't crafty enough for crafters and conversely it does have crafts so it has too much crafts for folks who don't craft. I am really debating whether I should lean twards one or the other. PLEASE stop on by and give me your honest opinion. I am strong, I can take it
I love your purple background. You are very talented lady and I am glad you are feeling better. The only thing that I can add is that for me, punctuation is important when I read a blog. Otherwise I become distracted. Wish they offered that in addition to spell check. Hope you'll stop on by my blog and let me know what you think!

Sorry, I am 3 days old and know nothing about blogging I don't even know what a widget is I hope you weren't offended about what I said about punctuation.

Ellen - I think your blog is fabulous just the way it is. Your writing is so sincere, insightful and inspirational. I love the story of how you named your blog and about who you are. You were one brave girl to jump. You write from your heart, which is always a noble thing.

I want to add an 'email me' widget, but I I can't find it. Is there anything else people can think of that I can do to improve my blog?
Tanla - Sorry I got a little behind. I think you have all the most critical elements. I love your mission statement on top. And the quote is perfect. My only comment, and honestly, this is just my subjective opinion - the red background throws me off a little. It's a little dark.

I have actually thought about changing the background colour. I may do that this weekend.
Diecutlady: I love your banner! I would suggest you check your "about me" section as I don't think you meant to write "cloths"...I am thinking clothes is what you meant? You do lovely cards.
diecutlady-that is an email address in your signature line-not a blog address. I like the clean look of your blog but I don't like the moving/changing images. It freezes up my browser and I just prefer not to see things moving out of the corner of my eye. Also I prefer to look at more posts on a page. I don't want to keep clicking on 'older posts' for each and every post (and every time that banner up top reloads, makes my browser freeze up so it takes twice as long). Your projects that I saw were very pretty!

Diecutlady - There's a lot to love about your blog. I actually like the slide show gallery at the top. I like the comforting color of your sidebar and that distressed edge and font.
It's interesting that you have no side bar but all your widgets are on the bottom. I have kind of mixed feelings about that . . . possibly just because it's not what I used to seeing.
For everyone . . . Here's an article on how you can check the appearance of your site on different browsers. Hope it helps.
Your blog looks great to me Julie. My blog is more of a place to display the cards I make and that's about it. Since I have 3 blogs, an almost full-time job and I manage a colorguard organization 24/7 I don't have much time to do too much with mine. I'd rather spend any spare moment I can find making cards. Your blog looks great though and very up-to-date. I love the little owls aka night owls.
Catered Crop your blog is amazing... I would not change anything. I will have to go through and look at some of the other ones! IN THE MEANTIME - please look at mine!
It is in my signature (I think) I am new to SCS... would love any feedback you can give me!
Thanks
Wendy, I love your blog. I love pink and it's very clean and cheerful. But while I love Comic Sans I would never use it on a blog. For some reason it inspires hatred in a lot of people. Also you have a lot of posts without a project or picture, which I think can also make people just pass over them. I tend to look at the pics first (that's the kid in me, I guess) and then I read the post. Your blog is wider than my screen, so I have to scroll to the side to see it all, but I have an old junky monitor and it's probably not as wide as the newer ones. I hate LCD monitors and the CRT kind are harder to find nowadays.

Thanks Gale for the critique... The only thing is I don't have Comic Sans anywhere on my blog. I have Verdana and Saved by Grace font? And I just changed the title font to be a little more blocky. As for pictures I guess I could add more, but I have a video for most of my blog posts so I was thinking that would be better than photos... Should I just add photos with the videos? - Thanks again for your help!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the photos at the top of your blog. They are beautiful. I am not a huge fan of how your posts are above your other stuff (like your followers, archives, etc) I am a big fan of a three column blog. But really that's just personal preference

Incredibly Stamping - I love your blog! I LOVE the owl... The only thing I was super crazy about was how your facebook like button and follow me buttons were at the top under your page tabs. They just looked a little out of place to me. That was it! The rest I think is FABULOUS!
On my computer, the post titles on your blog are Comic Sans. If you choose a font that is not common, anyone who looks at your blog who doesn't have that font installed on their computer will see a different one. In this case, I'm seeing Comic Sans. It may default to that automatically through the blogger interface.
eta: Personally, I prefer photos. Some might like video better. I would rather look at a few photos than spend time watching a video. I didn't look at any of yours yet, but some people can be very wordy and slow and an 8 minute video may only give 3 minutes worth of information. I probably got into the habit of not watching videos as much when I had a slower connection too.

Wendy - I love your blog. So fun! To be honest, I have a hearing impairment and most videos aren't set loud enough for me, so I tend to shy away from them. But, that's just me. Obviously, others love them because they're very "hot" right now. When you post a video, it just shows an image of something about mid-stream of the video, so we have to watch the whole video to see what you're making. I would suggest showing a picture of what you're making AND the video - it will entice people to watch the video more.
Thanks for the kind words about Catered Crop. Since I started this conversation my daughter helped me redesign it. She's a graphic artist and just getting started in web design. I got to be one of her first customers and I love what she did.
This weekend I finished taking my Intermediate Copic Certification with Marianne Walker. To my surprise, Marianne addressed starting groups to give constructive feedback. I raised my hand and said I had seen a forum on SCS that was addressing just this issue. And this morning I am delighted to see the addition of blogs. When I started stamping three years ago I was really put off by card challenges. Why? I felt the feedback, while always nice, didn't give much in the way of constructive feedback. Because I was new to the craft I had no idea how these challenges worked. Since then I gotten a little wiser : ) I don't want to write about how I made a card on my blog. But, I'd like to play more challenges. It's a catch 22 - if you don't play challenges you draw traffic to your blog. I have started playing challenges on SCS with the information on how I made the card on my gallery. This allows me to do both.
After a session with Marianne on card design principles, the class as a whole took a look at several cards by the Copic Design Team (cards from their beginnings) and critiqued them. It was good practice and we were advised to ask ourselves the same questions as we created our own cards. So, all this said, I'd like to leave you with my blog address. I had it redesigned about 6 months ago and I absolutely hate it! I should have stayed with the other design. I am a different type of paper crafting blogger. I choose a stamp based on the story I'd like to write. I use my own photographs as inspiration as well. And, not all my posts are card related. Please feel free to give me some constructive feedback on both the blog and card designs.

I would love some helpful criticism if anyone cares to take a look at my blog. I still seem to be tweaking it a bit everyday, but I would like to know what is bothersome to other people!
I responded to this before but I took some advice and applied to my blog and so now I am wondering what everyone thinks? Please go check it out and tell me if you like the new look and feel?
Thanks
Wendy
I'm still working on my blog. I had another one that I had before I became a Stampin Up demo. So this blog is just strictly SU. I'm stuck right now in what to add to it. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Yay! I love it. I see you're posting pictures with your videos. Much better for folks like me. Great job.

Holy Moly that is one pink blog! I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of the pink. It's such a stark and bright color that it distracts from the rest of your blog. If you stick with the pink, I'd soften it a bit. It's such a new blog, there's only one photo of your projects, but it's a great photo and a great project. Keep up the good work.
