Great news girls!!!!!!! We finally got word from the insurance company thjat they agree our dinig room set is a total loss-and a check has been issued and mailed for replacement coast of a new set. So sunday on our anniversary we got to go buy a new dining room set. Our flooring guy is coming over tom to meet w dh and give us a time estimate on having hardwood installed in the dining room and living room on the main level and replace the carpet padding and clean the carpets in ou master bdrm and my office. It looks like we are almost fully recovered (FINALLY-its been over a monthwaiting for answers!) Had to share my happy news!
Sorry I've been MIA. I was sick most of last week in bed and on the weekend was the big day where we helped my parents move to live with us. All the stress of the packing etc has seen both my parents deteriorate a little. Particularly mum with her Alzhiemers she woke up the first morning here wanting to know whos house this was and where I lived etc, thinking we were staying somewhere in Brisbane.
My secret owl package from my Owlet Molly arrived and let me tell you I have been blown away her generousity cos the $15 spend was definitely exceeded. Here is a photo of all the goodies.....minus the book she sent as I started reading when I was sick last week. There were lots and lots of stamps, including ones from Verve & Gina K., some ribbons, some metal flower charms, clear acrylic alphabet, chipboard book, her handmade item was a wonderful Project Planner which she personalised with my name.
I do hope my swap has arrived safely in return.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES to you JENN. I am so sorry I missed wishing you this on the day but my cardmaking and computer access has been very limited in the last week.
Kelly I am so happy to hear that you may have met someone. It is wonderful news.
Molly - it sounds like you caught your termites early which is good news. Termites are causing big problems around here at the moment too! Particularly to those homes that had been indundated with flood water recently. We had them in our yard a few years back but they were not found to be in our home.
I will probably be MIA a bit in the coming few weeks as the BIG MOVE to our new home is next week.
I hope everyone is doing well.

Just finished visiting everyone's blog and leaving a smile. Lynn, your comment form kept disappearing on me so I couldn't leave you a comment. Your card is soooo cute and I love the humour in the sentiment
Hey..sorry I haven't been commenting on blogs. I'vce ben busy with real life. I'll be making the rounds tonight or tomorrow morning....hopefully tonight b/c I already have a doc appt set up for my son!
so, the opening post/list is uptodate now...and I've commented on all your blogs...it's nearly 1am...but I simply HAD to get it done b/c I had being a slacker! I'im off to bed! GN all.
Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! So sad to see it end already. =( I had a busy and fun weekend. Spent Friday evening with my best friend from high school, who I havent seen in over 20 years and we had a blast! Then I had a jewelry party on Saturday and that is always fun to have the girls out to visit. Today was rest day and got 2 cards made (which seems like a miracle!) and both covered the April TUIC challenges for that definitely WAS a miracle!
Keep Molly in your prayers...a Hugh tornado has hit Raleigh nc. She is ok but her town is devastated....several people have lost their lives. So sad!

OMG I just read this, I will definitely have Molly, her family and her community in my thoughts and prayers. I saw some of the devastation from all these Tornados on TV yesterday. I can not remember a time when Mother Nature's fury has been so widespread (globally) in a short space of time. If there is anything we can do don't hesitate to ask.

Hey guys! I am back at it iwth internet! I am at work now, but we have it at home now too! You should google Sanford, NC - that is actually where I am....we lost our lowes hardware, tractor supply....it is CRAZY. We are helping with collection donations as one of the girls I worked with lost her house. We are collecting WalMArt giftcards and such. I am helping to cook meals and start the coffee post for our church as they are housing the Samaritan's Purse organization who has come to help clean up. I will be here and there becuase of helping, but please keep these people in their prayers - HUGE devastaion....
Molly, I am sending you some WalMart giftcards today for you to pass on to those in need.
Thank you so much for the help you are providing for those devastated in your community!
Lynn - thank you so much - it will be so appreciated! I have felt for these people who don't even have underwear! I can't image so I am just doing what I can....my husband thinks I am crazy, but I packed up so much stuff to give. I told Nick we have a house - we have to be thankful, these people don't even have stuff to brush their teeth or anything!!! I just picture myself in that place with two kids....I am going to do all that I can. THANK YOU SO MUCH LYNN!!!!!
Molly...told you this already but I am thinking of you and everyone there! I'll try to get some things put together to send your way. Glad to know that you and yours are all okay. Its so hard when somethign like this happens! We just had MORE tornados last night around here...this is getting ridiculous! =(
Morning everyone! Hope you all had a pleasant evening! =)
I wanted to let you all know that I did receive my package from my secret owl the other day and it was wonderful! I did not take a picture of it but it included many clear stamps, treats and homemade paper that she made herself and it was lovely!
Sorry to Dawn for not getting back sooner on this! I should have let you know she did sent it and it was received by me earlier this week. =)
Also, I hate to be nosy but Molly and I have been talking about this and I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies had advice or wisdom to share on the subject of design teams/publication calls, etc.
I would love to hear about the time committments, why you do it, do you receive free products, etc? I see many of you are on design teams and its something I had thought about pursuing this year...maybe trying to get on one....but I work full time, am a single mom, etc etc etc so how do you all find the time to do it?! Just curious?

Being part of a design team was a personal goal of mine. I also wanted to be able to start a "crafting" resume. I was hoping to teach classes at local craft stores. That really hasn't panned out. Now, I'm waiting to see what direction {ippit} is going with direct sales. I really would like to become a Stay-at-Home mom. We recently discovered Brendan (my oldest, who's 4) is Autistic and I'm learning he needs at lot more attention than I am able to give working full time.
As far as time commitments, usually in the design team calls the company tells what is expected of you. Some companies expect a new project every week (some 2 projects/week). I was lucky, the two I've been on were not that demanding. As far as finding time to craft, Saturday morning at 5 am when everyone is asleep. Most of the house doesn't rise until 8 am so I can get a solid 2 hour chunk of time. I hope that helps. I tend to ramble (no wonder my son has processing issues ).

Kelly, to be honest, I have never answered any design team calls and yet have ended up serving on three teams. These three companies contacted me, I feel certain, because of the work I shared here in the SCS challenges on a regular basis. I consistently play at least 4 challenges a week.
Time commitments are different for each (4 - 10 projects a month), but you do need to be organized and dependable. You won't last long on a team if you don't have the self-discipline to honor your commitment without prompting.
I do it because I love keeping current with stamping trends and sharing my work with others. It is fabulous getting online feedback about my work, because I have met no one in my city that shares my passion for stamping. I have learned so much from the talented ladies I have had the opportunity to work with on design teams. And all the free stamps and supplies are certainly a welcome bonus!
I am retired so my time is my own to play all I wish.
My advice to you is to use images you love and post them online as often as possible. If you enter them in challenges, they will attract more attention.
I bought the extra prize for last month's challenge...and mailers. So Christy and Kelly Spivey, your prizes are wrapped up...and ready to be mailed. I can't believe my kids are coming home in less than an hour. I just never have enough time!
Lynn and Monica...thank you so much for the responses! Very helpful and I love the idea about posting more for challenges. This has also been a goal of mine this year! I need to do that more...
Monica, I had been an ippity chick also but because of the lack of structure and communication, I dropped to become an A Muse Studio consultant. I see that things may be different now and I hope all the best for you girls! They have awesome stamps!
Lynn, how exciting for you to get asked to be on teams! Wow! But I have seen your work and I understand why for sure! =)
Dawn...thanks! That is too sweet of you and a million thanks for all the hard work you and Jenn put into organizing stuff. It was so nice of you to check on me and the secret owl swap package. =)
Happy Easter to everyone. I promised myself I would get crafting this weekend so I have new projects to show on the ole blog and for our upcoming A Muse Studio blog hops. It just never seems to end and I never have time for "me stuff" but I am making time this weekend. My son is 14 so I basically dont exist to him anymore so I should have plenty of time to craft this weekend! HA! Anyone else have the same issues. If I aint a computer or XBox, then I am invisible. Altho he did say he wanted for us to go see a movie this weekend so I am excited about that!
A million thank yous!! I just received noticed from Sweet Pea Stamps about my gift certificate. You really did not have to do that! I am really thankful that you did! I will spend it wisely! Thank you.
To fill the rest of you in on my excitement: Becky was my Secret Owl. She sent me a box (that sounded wonderful), only I never received it. I still say the people working in my PO kept it for themselves. You would not believe the shady folks that work there (and I won't even get started on their rude manner). I told her not to send me anything else, but she did a $25 gc for Sweet Pea Stamps (my favorite, other than {ippity} of course). To sum it up: BECKY IS AWESOME!!!

Thanks Dawn, it's always lovely to receive a little surprise in the mailbox!

I hear ya! I have a 14 year old son too who will be 15 in a few months...eeek! He does enjoy playing the XBox and his computer and seems 'put out' when he has to do anything else! Thankfully my 12 yo daughter still enjoys being with her Mum on occasion but I can see them both pulling away as they grow up and seek independence. I worked all day yesterday and when I got home the first thing I heard was "I'm starving"! Some days I just feel like a vending machine...or a taxi driver! I hope you have a lovely time at the movies with your son...I hope to take both of mine next week as they are on Spring Break...hopefully I'll find a little time to craft

Lynn - thanks so much! I took them straight to our friend BEtsy Wells who lost her house except for some clothes and one rubbermiad tub of pictures....
I was thinking we should do something to help Molly...she is spending a lot of time helping out people who lost everything in the tornado in her town. I know Lynn has already donated.
Throw out your ideas and then we can all decide what to do.
Happy Easter.
