DITTO!!!!!!! In fact, I do I have my CD in the car and pop it in from time to time when the kids aren't watching a movie (yes, once upon a time I actually thought the tv in the car that came WITH the car would be a blessing ... ha! Hear (them watch) Finding Nemo - for example - 25 times in a row .... not so much!

I'm hoping to have the new Christian CD Now 2013 in my stocking this year

I am enjoying the chatting- love the week I am off and can relax alot!

I was telling my neighbor about not remembering alot of gifts- and she jogged my memory- one year I got a guitar. I remember it well- I never did learn to play it well though- and that is prob why I forgot all about it.....

Paige- I did not know your DH had a stroke- bless you- and glad he is around now. It is a ton of work to put up all of the lights- hubby loves being outdoors- he was raised on a farm, so enjoys yard work and all. I tease him that when he is outside, the neighbor lady always seems to go out too- they talk about birds and squirrels and hawks.....

My daughter wants a box- and has requested a ton of stuff- spices, Fish Oil (very expensive in China), coffee- no flavored coffee in China that she can find, decaf tea...Christmas candy like Candy Canes, some make-up...... I spent a fortune at Target today and she cannot find any running shoes.... Women in China do not exercise- like running, as they are concerned about their figures and do not want to bulk up.

Kelly- have you heard the Josh Groban Christmas CD? ahhhhhhh

Lynn- I had skates with a key- you could expand them if your feet were big like mine..... WOW- fun.

We used to bake like crazy for the holiday- imagine with 7 kids, my Mom would bake and bake, and the cookies would disappear just as fast as they came out of the oven. Yummmmm I always loved helping in the kitchen.

Ok- off to bed- I had 2 ATC swaps to make in the past week- still have lots of Christmas cards to finish : )

One more day, then I have to go back to work for a week. I am counting down the days (10) till Colorado!

Shelly

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Shelly, can your DD receive mail okay in China. If so, and you don't mind giving me her address, I'd be delighted to mail her a Christmas card. I'm thinking being that far from home on Christmas might be a little sad, so some "extra" mail in the mailbox might be nice.

Good morning Stamp Addicts!

I was thinking that too while I was reading Shelly's post. I know it's hard being away from family during the holidays.

I got a little more shopping done, but I also got to bed at a reasonable hour last night. This is going to be one busy weekend and it starts tonight!

Maggie - yes, I have heard the CD from Josh Groban - in fact, I own it! I rec'd it 3 years ago, I think? The year it came out - Noel Ahhhhhhh! He's one of the artists I've been blessed to see in concert and he is EXACTLY as he sounds - talented and fabulous!

I love the idea of mail to China - just mail early, it takes a LONG TIME to get there so if you want it to arrive by Christmas, we need to mail now! Add me to the list!

LOL! That was Shelly that asked about Josh Groban. I've got his Noel album also though. Love him. I saw on FB that he's getting ready to release another album I think the first part of February. I've never seen him IRL, but would love to.

Good morning Stamp Addicts.

I had a church meeting last night and tonight we have our Women's Christmas dinner, so I'll be gone for that later.

Have dr. appt. this morning for my back/hip pain. We'll see what he has to say.

Good evening fellow addicts!!

I have been MIA for a while, please excuse my absence.
Sunday a very important man to our family (related by heart, not by blood lines) died. DH, DS & I were with his family at the hospital...even though it was inevitable, and expected, we all felt it was too quick. But then again, he didn't linger long. So, it's been an unusual week in our lives.
The funeral was today, we all helped during the service at his wife's request. Such an honor.

Now we are at home, resting our tired eyes and feeling a bit worn out. But My Board meeting is also over and tomorrow is a day off for me to recharge and regroup. Hope to catch up on all of the goings-on and looking forward to participating more here in the thread!

Blessings on your new snuggle-bunny, Paige!! How very special!!!

I too have been MIA - the house painting has come to a temporary halt, as since we got home from visiting family (oh, the loving snuggles and cuddles) the weather has turned wild and wet - even down to hail forecast today, after a 2 hour thunderstorm yesterday!!

Thankfully we were well away from the tornadoes that hit Auckland yesterday, as was DD - she is in South Akld, the tornadoes were in the northern edges.

I have made a couple of cards, and hopefully I will be able to blog them later.... we have family visiting this weekend, and have to attend a party Sunday afternoon in celebration of my aunts birthday - she's 85 and going strong!!, so you may not see memuch over the next few days - again

Somehow I got logged out of SCS! That was a mess to deal with. I couldn't figure out what was going on.........anyway........I'm back.........

Paige, that's great that you're getting some snuggle time! Um.....fun! And yes, they do change really fast!

Maxine, glad y'all are safe from the bad weather.....hopefully your daughter is good too.

Darlene, so sorry to hear about your friend. Know that was hard on y'all. Glad your board meeting is over though and now you can get some "me" time again.

Maggie, hope all went ok at the doctor today! Doesn't sound like fun to have any type of back/hip pain!

I made a HUGE mistake today! I decided to go to San Antonio to get a little Christmas shopping completed.....mainly gift cards, etc. I figured there wouldn't be really big crowds on a Thursday! Wrong!!! Way too many people - pushing, shoving, being so rude! The worse place was Michaels! I needed a gift card there (which they had) and also wanted a book on Polymer Clay for my sister in law and some gold and silver cording for Christmas cards. I looked in every nook and cranny in that store and they didn't have either one! So I decided to hit Hobby Lobby as I KNOW they have it! I got all the way there and realized I didn't have my coupons!!! Not good at all! So, now I have to make another trip up there sometime. Sure would be nice to live closer to a city where I could just pop in and get what I needed.

Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment - nothing at all - just a routine type deal and then hope to get started addressing my Christmas cards and get those in the mail no later than Monday. I'm just hoping I made enough so I don't have to stop and whip out a few. I think if I have to do that, I'll just use some old store bought ones I've had on hand. I know, shame on me - right! LOL!

Hope everyone has a good evening. I'll check in tomorrow!

Lynn

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Morning has flown by, so now it's Good Afternoon Stamp Addicts!

Lynn, I ran my Norton Anti-Virus program last night and today I've had to log in everywhere! Guess they erased my cookies too.

Sorry about leaving you H.L. coupon at home. Was there something really special you wanted to get? I'm afraid I may have had to go anyway without the coupon since I wouldn't get back there for awhile.

Nice to have a break in the painting Maxine especially with the grands there. they always take top priority. So glad you were well away from the tornadoes. Those things scare me.

Enjoy your family time and celebrating.

A very early good morning to all of you!

A productive day of ink & paper yesterday, here. Finished up & mailed 5 gift sets of cards. Each set had 11 cards & envies. 4 different Christmas cards & 7 various cards, thinking of you, sympathy, get well, thank you and birthday cards. Those were the cards that I made a couple of months ago during my vacation. Each set was inside one of those folders like I made for you all, only I used glittery Christmas DP for these.

Feels good to have some gifts on their way to our family members!

Sounds great. I still have one set to finish up so I can give each of my DD's a set for Christmas. I started them ages ago with some friends and we never finished them up. Now, one of the ladies is moving, so she'll probably never get hers done.

Default Hello

Hi Ladies- I am at the end of my three days in a row- and hubby is at my parents at Ky, so I am catching up and maybe will go stamp, maybe not...... I watched the Heisman Trophy award tonight- pretty cool!

Wow- Thanks for the offer to mail Katie cards! I think that is so awesome!
You can send cards to her at the school she works at- that is where I send everything......

Katie Schmidt
EF Shenzhen 2 Kids' School
Huamaoxinyuan,

Futian District,
Shenzhen
China

I cannot tell you all how special this idea is- you are the best!!! Jeanette- you are esp sweet! {HUGS} and most appreciated!

Lynn- how far do you have to drive to get to the big city? I love Hobby Lobby- I stay away- I have no self control there....hehehehe I still have a few Christmas cards to make.

Dang Marilyn- I did not get on the computer much yesterday- missed that great freebie...Oh well. I have a few in my files- LOVE these cute images and their great hair!

Paige- so sweet to imagine the snuggles and a brand new baby!

Maxine- is it the wet season there, or are there just random storms, and tornado's....... I bet you will be so happy to have that painting done- and so happy you had good snuggle time too!

Maggie- hope the pain eases up soon- gotta watch your posture...I have a sitting job- and I had an ergonomic eval and have really been so much better : ) Have fun with the rest of your weekend.

Kelly- thanks to you too- have you heard what happened to that ladies dog from the car accident? Are you ready for Christmas?

Darlene- so sorry to hear about your friend. That would be the hardest part of being a ministers wife- being the rock for families when they experience a loss- and so much harder when it is close and personal friends. Bless you! Glad you have tomorrow off to have some 'you' time,

Hope I did not miss anyone- off to get up off the couch!

Shelly

It finally looks like winter/Christmas around here. We have gotten about three inches of snow since Friday and it's still snowing lightly. Later this morning the winds are to pick up with gusts to 40mph. Needless to say we have a blizzard warning for today and tonight. I love blizzards...when I am tucked in warm and safe at home! This would be a good day to bake and/or address Christmas cards! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good morning Stamp Addicts!

What a full day yesterday! I was on the go from the time I got up til I fell into bed last night. I dozed off a bit while I was at my friend's house babysitting and I just felt that I was zonked when I got home. Just couldn't focus on anything so pretty much went right to bed.

Another busy one today.

I'm excited for you having snow Paige and glad that we're NOT! We are getting the cold front through tonight and the night time temps are supposed to drop into the 30's. I hope my little ones outside stay warm.

Shelly, I plan to write my Christmas cards tomorrow night so I"ll add Katie's name to my list.

We really need the moisture in our part of the state, so will take in anyway we can get it at this point.

I'm looking through my recipes to see what I need for baking. Hope I can find something to make!

Greetings my Addicted Friends!
Home from church & bell choir rehearsal, doing some laundry and getting ready to finish up some Christmas cards.

Paige...be sure to tell us what delectable goodies you bake! I am too lazy to bake so I only bake at Christmas. Plus I really don't have a sweet tooth...

ZOOM!!! There goes Maggie LOL! Wow are you busy!

Shelly, I will put a card in the mail tomorrow for Katie. What a wonderful surprise for her! Oh - I am not a minister's wife, that is Jeanette. Strangest thing is, Jeanette has a friend who's husband also passed away and the funeral was yesterday.

Wishing you all a great day!

Shelly, depending on where I'm going in the city - it takes between an hour and an hour and a half. Sure puts a crimp in just running to Hobby Lobby or Michaels when I run out of say dimensionals, etc.... Usually when I go I'll buy several of all the basics at least. So many times I've gotten a card almost completed and then find I don't have the "certain" embellishment or whatever! I keep a running list of supplies needed on my desk (and then try to remember to take it when I go! LOL).
Yes, the Heisman was something to watch!!! Of course, being from Texas and then having the guy from A&M win was very special! My son graduated from there (and then got his law degree from Texas Tech) so we're pretty good Aggie fans.....of course we're Univ. Of Texas fans too.

Paige, it's so hard to image snow, etc.....and yet I'm sitting here watching it on TV at the Packers football game. I've been in flip flops for the last two days - and shorts today. Like Maggie said, it's suppose to get cold tomorrow........Burr.......and my take on all that is that if it's going to get cold it might as well snow so it'll at least be pretty to look at! Oh well...........

Oh, I'll try to get my card for Katie in the mail tomorrow too!

So sad about Jeanette's friend losing her husband!

Yes, Paige, tell all as far as what you're baking! I really don't do much of that at Christmas or any other time of the year. I did a little when they kids were small mainly for parties, etc. We're just not sweet eaters at all I guess. Cookies.....um..that's probably my downfall - can't eat just one......SO, I just seldom make them! LOL!

Hope everyone has a good upcoming week!

Lynn

Good Monday morning to my Addicted Friends!
This is the week that I catch up on life: Christmas cards mailed (shocking!) get the tree up and some decorations in place, make a list of gifts already covered & any that I still want to make or purchase...all that stuff.

Ph, Lynn, about 100 years ago I told you that I had a few DOTW and now finally have enough time to circle back to that. With your permission, I'll go ahead and post one here in a little while. I want to collect some links with it to help out with my question.

Wishing all of you a great day!

Default Ribbon Storage: Lessons Learned?

Here I am back with my suggestion for the Discussion of the Week:
Ribbon Storage

Now don't throw rotten fruit or other things at me LOL...I know we've already discussed this at some point. What I'd like to discuss is what do you like or dislike about your storage method? I'm looking to start a storage system that goes beyond the big cardboard box and a few bags (great system, huh? ) and could sure use any of your insights.

For instance: If you visit this blog and scroll down, you can see that she uses rain gutters, cut and hung. Pretty cool. But I'm not hanging gutters on my wall and have no cabinet space.

She also mentions the Ribbon Ring solution found here . I think I like the portability, visibility, and that this system will not use up any floor or counter top space. Do any of you do something similar? Have you made your own version of this? Do the ribbons fall off of the little belt-buckle shaped thing? Do they get a crease or bent part and need ironing? Ironing is against my ethics so that could be a problem for me, ha ha.

Here is another take on the ribbon ring, except that the ribbons are wrapped around flat pieces of foam board or some such and then placed in a drawer or other storage container. I have the same questions regarding ironing with this system. Plus it would need floor, counter or other space for the container and my room is short on that (since I set up my home office in the craft room)

I've considered dowels and other such methods, but truthfully, after using one dowel for several years I've found that it's a pain to unload the whole thing to get an empty spool out. Plus other spools unwind when I'm using ribbon right next to it. Maybe it's just me, but I end up with a mess.

Soooo, I'm just wondering about which system you use and why. Do you like it? What would you change about it? Are you thinking of trying something else? etc.

Thanks in advance for any insights you can give to me! If you've already beat this topic to death and I just missed it, let me know, OK? No need to bother again with it.

For ribbon storage I have a shelving unit that holds 9 fabric bins - 3 x 3 - purchased it at Target several years ago in the children's section. Fortunately I had the right space to tuck this unti into, otherwise it does take up space. I placed one or two colors of ribbon per bin with tags labeling the colors and have them arranged in ROYGBIV order on the shelves. The bins hold a ton of spools of ribbon. What I like about it is that I can bring the entire spool(s) to my table to work with. What I don't like about it is that it easily becomes a jumbled mess, but that is more my fault because I don't take the time to place the spools back neatly. Odd pieces of ribbon (as in no longer on spools) go in a basket. Most of these are wound on clothespins or cardboard. Snippets of ribbon that I don't want to throw away yet are in a little bucket on my stamping table. I use these for making ribbon loops that don't call for a longer piece.

I really like the idea of wrapping the ribbon on cardboard and placing drawers by color, but have never gotten around to that. Ironing? No way!

Thanks for your reply, Paige. I've been considering that system. I worry about the jumbled mess part, can totally see myself in that situation.
Do you use a piece of tape to keep the ribbon end on the spool so that it doesn't unravel? That's my issue whether using my cardboard box and bags, or a dowel. I have issues keeping the ends secure. Sometimes the tape gets stuck to another spool, etc.

Hmmm...I actually have more issues that that LOL, but that is another discussion

I use tape on the ribbon wrapped on clothespins or cardboard, but on the spools I cut a short diagonal slit on the spool itself and tuck the end into there. That works better than tape for me.

Now see, that is exactly the type of nugget I was hoping for! Duh, why couldn't I think of that. Adopting your diagonal slit method immediately! Thank you.
