Default Hi

Checking in to say Hi! I am working like crazy- we are so behind!!! The electronic medical records are not horrible- but the interview for the health history is all in a different order, and we did not really get good training- it is kinda 'figure it out for yourself'.......

Hi Darlene- glad to have you join us- I will add you to my sidebar later today- gotta get ready for church......

I will blog hop later today too.

I am color challenged- but...I got into the Prismacolor chat here- Tim from Hambo recommended a book that I purchased and it talks about color theory, etc....it is a fabulous resource......Copic blog by Marianne Walker is a great blog for color theory too- the blending of colors is the greatest thing you can do with Copics that you cannot do with reg markers........ I need lots of practice......
The book is:
Masterful Color vibrant colored pencil paintings layer by layer and it is written by Arlene Steinberg.

I checked it out from the library and ended up buying it. It is for Prismacolor pencils, but you can apply your learning onto any coloring.......

OK off to church- I will blog hop later tonight!
Have a great day
Shelly

Shelly, hope you get all the medical records/questions figured out. What a pain that must be. I know anytime anything changes on computer stuff it just kind of throws me in a tizzy. Before I retired, our office seemed to change things about every 6 months!

I have a question for everyone..............I've just got such a mess in my craft room right now. I'll find an image and then have to dig through all my stamps to find a good sentiment. I'm really thinking about breaking up all my stamp sets (SU included) and separating the images from the sentiments. Has anyone done this - or is this not a good idea? At one time I tried stamping all my sets on paper and then putting them in a binder but then I'd find myself looking though the entire binder for one sentiment, etc.
I keep telling myself that maybe I just have TOO MANY! But I don't have a drop in the bucket compared to a lot of ladies.
Any help here?????

Lynn

Lynn,
I don't split up my stamp sets, but do shelve them by categories, as well as, stamp the images and place in binders, also by categories. Yes, then I go through the binders page by page to find what I am looking for! A pain? Yes! I've thought about pulling out just the sentiments from the SU stamps sets and grouping them by categories too, but haven't done it yet. (Hmmm, maybe my winter organizing project!)
Sorry that I'm not any help here!

Hi everyone!
Quickly checking in here - where did the weekend go??? I didn't accomplish NEARLY enough.

Shelly: I also have that book! I lurk on the Prisma thread here, but hardly ever post. Now the Prismas are being made in Mexico, I have a few of those and they don't blend nearly as well as the ones made in the USA. So I've been test driving some other brands when I have a 50% off coupon. Haven't found any that suit me yet.

I don't split up my sets (yet). But BOY do I ever spend a lot of time searching. And searching. And then searching some more! I'm hoping that when I move into the bedroom recently vacated by our grown daughter and make that my craft room I'll be more organized. But right now, my stash is in multiple boxes, bins, totes, bags...you get the idea. Ugh.

I broke some clear stamps before. It's convenient to make my own sentiment. After that, I put them back in the original package. The original pack has the old sentiment print out, so it's easy to find.

The other way is called masking. No need to break up any stamps. Watch the video. It's easier to get the idea than I type it done in words. So you can make a window that only shows the word you want to stamp. I suggest using trace paper or clear plastic to make the window. Then you can see where to stamp.

Thanks for the input! I'm still thinking about how or if I want to break up my sets.

Something very strange just happened to me! I was on the computer a few minutes ago and was going through my Google Reader to see who had updated their blog, etc. in order to comment. Darlene, you showed an updated post - but I had to stop and go help hubby with something so I got out of it before commenting. When I just now came back it was gone from the Reader!!! Weird!! I'll pop over now and see if there is a post or if I was dreaming!

Hmmm, I did have to do a few fine-tuning edits to the post. Maybe that's why it was "now you see it, now you don't".

Thanks for leaving the comment! What a ghastly card, but it was fun.

Paige, I just briefly popped over and looked at your card and will leave a comment later - but it's SUPER! Very pretty.

Now, where did you and Shelly find this book you're talking about? I looked on Amazon and couldn't find it!

I figure I can use all the help I can get!!! LOL

I had recently gotten a book called The Copic Coloring Guide - by Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker - and I LOVE that thing. It says it's for beginner and advance Copic users but I would think it's more for beginners ( like me!) as it's very basic. It instructs to color from light to dark and sometimes I can get that figured out pretty good. Anyway, I like the book. It also has a whole bunch of sample cards (with compete instructions on what Copics used, how the card was put together, etc) by different ladies and I like that too. It's not a big book at all but feel like it's helped me some.

I purchased that same Copic book and loved it too. I should refer to it more often than I do though, just to refresh my memory on the tips and techniques.

Morning ladies! T.G.I.F!!!

Will visit your blogs in a few minutes here before getting ready for the office.

Wasn't online after work yesterday. It appears my Dad had a minor stroke and my Mom had cataract surgery. They live outside of Seattle, and we live in NH, so lots of phone time with my brother yesterday.

Lynn & Paige, my husband gave that book (Prisma) to me for Christmas & it's AMAZING! I'm working my way up to purchasing some Copics and taking classes...haven't found any classes around here that I know of. Anyway, when I do make the big investment, I'll add the Copic book to my tool kit! Thanks for the tip!

Darlene, I hope your dad is ok! So sorry to hear that. But they can do so much in the medical field now and am sure he'll be alright. I'll keep you in my prayers.
And cataract is no fun either! I know because I had one last year (and am due up for another one and just keep putting it off!)

Laura, why did you drop your FB account? I still haven't gotten over to Roro's FB to become a friend - just really haven't figured out how to do that yet.....but will work on it.

Hope everyone has a good weekend - it's almost here.

Morning Blog Addicts!
Shelly, your D. Morgan card is SO VERY PRETTY!!! Aren't you glad that you tried it, 'cuz you nailed it!! Are you going to send it to someone? If not, you should put it in a little frame and display it.
I love how you have the yellow light coming through the open door, I don't think that I would have thought of that.

Early news on my Dad is good. Waiting for the results on the brain MRI. His carotid arteries were clear, so that's good. He did well on all dexterity tests, just has the slight droop on one side of his mouth and the fact that he was "acting strangely" last week (my Mom's description). Mom's cataract surgery went well, easier than the first one. She sounded in good spirits when I talked to her last night. Thanks for the concern and prayers!

Ladies:
Shelly visited my blog this week and saw the card I made for another group that I belong to on SCS: Dueling Darlings. Each month we receive a kit from one person in our group and we all have to follow the challenge and post our card by the 15th.
Shelly thought that we should explore doing the same game here, so, what do you think?

Here's how it could work: each of us is assigned one month to be the hostess. When you are the hostess, you choose an image, stamp a few for each person, choose whether or not to include anything else in the kit and send it off to everyone.

We could agree to send only images, or we could agree to send more of a kit, with a segments of DP, some embellies, etc. I actually belong to 2 groups on SCS, one that only sends images and one that sends a kit.

We could also decide to make it a swap so that you would receive cards back, and keep one from everyone on the month that you are hostess. Or we could just decide to create one card and post it to our blogs by a certain date.

Let me know your thoughts, and if we want to try something I'd be happy to help organize it and get it started.

Default Hi

Darlene- I think it would be great fun! I love a challenge!

I just took the Copic 2 class, and the shading is something I struggle with as well.....The shading book by Marianne Walker is another great book-it has templates you can place over your image, you decide where the light is coming from and use one of the 4 templates, and you can write on them with marker for highlights and shadows...then add the color to your images.....helps alot when I use it. Thanks- I do not have the copic coloring book.....
I also need to know where to stop....LOL

I am cleaning my messy craft area today- well, it is more like a disaster area! I started out OK, then decided to take some of my heaping DSP pile and make up some blog candy....then I got onto the computer....LOL

Lynn, when I sorted my stamps, I have a section for sentiments....but, I did not break up sets. I have portfolio boxes that sit up and down in a shelf . My trouble is the unmounted sets- I have them put away by company- I really need to index them....but do not take the time..... Unmounted is a huge space saver for me. My new problem is that when I print out a digital image, I usually print an entire sheet, so I have enough images printed that I need to start a storage box for them as well....... I need to remember to write on the back in pencil where the images are from- some I do not have a clue!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Off to play...or clean....we'll see......

Shelly

Shelly, Your blog candy looks yummy. I entered for a chance to win.

Lynn, I was putting all my time on the games and thought if i just delete FB I can focus on trying to sale my cards on ebay again. But i did manage to find Cityville on google. LOL ... Its not as fun starting all over again. My city was looking BIG on FB.

I hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving. Stay blessed.

Hi All,
Hope everyone is well. I haven't been here much and am going to try to be better about that.
I am going to have to pass on this. It sounds like a great idea and lots of fun but I had better not. I am notorious for not wanting to miss out on anything and then it ends that I get behind on everything so I am really trying to downsize and get myself organized. hahahhaha... I try this every year and it never works!
Cold weather here in Saskatchewan, Canada. We have some snow and it is very cold but the temps are supposed to warm up later this week. I know it's almost December but it just seems too early for winter.

Hi Marilyn. I totally know what you mean about getting behind and feeling swamped. Ugh, not a nice feeling at all. You are wise to cut back so that you can enjoy your card making time and not feel stressed! Besides, it would be easy to include you at any point that you would want to play along. No worries!

Yes, it does seem like winter is coming on fast this year. Mother Nature has been playing some tricks on us all the past couple of weeks.

Hello fellow Addicts!!

I certainly hope that your to do list on this day before Thanksgiving is waaaay shorter than mine! LOL But ya know, we're all Wonder Women and somehow we manage to get it all done. And if we don't - well - no one seems to care but us!

My reward is Friday. That day, and the day after Christmas, are the two days out of the entire year that usually belong entirely to me!! I stay in sweat pants and play with my toys, listening to music the entire day. Good for my soul.

I think I'd rather be set on fire than go out shopping on Friday! Don't like crowds.
