Good morning! Hope that everyone is enjoying an extra day off from work.

Me, I need to put in a couple of hours to avoid the "too many deadlines & not enough days" that this week brings. But that's ok, I did get most of last week off and it felt GOOD!

As for my sets of cards for gifts: I have six sets done. That's 60 cards! Woo hoo!
1 Sympathy
1 Fall (blank at this time-maybe get well?)
1 Asian good luck/best wishes type
2 woman's birthday (1 funny 1 generic)
1 Thinking of You

Still to add: some masculine cards & get well cards

Those will have to wait for a couple of weeks I think. I have a couple of swaps that I need to pound out.

Morning Jeanette!
How are you? Did you ever post an eyelet card? I'm sorry if I missed it.

I've been going back through this thread making sure that I have prizes for each person who participated in our little game.

Alas... I didn't do that. I missed the thread for a few days and then completely forgot to do it. I plan to still do it, though... since I think it is a wonderful idea to challenge ourselves that way. I'm sorry I let you down! And of course, you know me well enough to know that I'm sorry I missed the PRIZE! LOL!

Exclamation Eyelet Prize List-Please Check for Accuracy!

OK, Stamp Addicts! I've checked my notes, but most certainly do NOT want to miss anyone, so please check my list. Thanks!

I am making prizes for the following Addicts who posted eyelet cards:
Maggie
Maxine
Paige
Lynn
Kelly
Shelly
Jeanette (coming)
Paola, Indah & Marilyn: did any of you post eyelet cards and I missed seeing them? If so, please forgive me but let me know! I want you to get a prize also, ok?

Everyone: I am going to delay sending out the prizes to US Addicts, and send out those going overseas first. I'll give them a week to travel and then send out the US prizes. That way everyone should be receiving theirs at about the same time, ok?

Good morning Stamp Addicts! It was so nice to sleep in a bit this morning. I woke up a couple times, but was able to doze back off again until about 7 and then I stayed in bed with my Kindle Fire until I figured that the outside kitties would be really hungry and waiting for breakfast.

Got lots of projects to work on so I'm happy to have this time to work on them and I need to get around to blogs for visits.

My eyelet card is made, but I can't show it to you until tomorrow. I'm using it as my DT card for Twisted Tuesday. I hope that's okay. (I had such fun with it and do like the way it turned out.)

Afternoon everyone!

That's so sweet to send us something Darlene - but just remember you don't HAVE to do that!

Discussion of the Week - this one comes from Darlene (thanks again, so much!)

We're going to talk about STUCK ON YOU............How do you stick your stuff down (how's THAT for a slang-y type sentence! LOL) What type of adhesive do you use for say, pearLs, gems, ribbon....... all those extras you put on cards? Nothing is more frustrating that to get ready to put down a pearl and it doesn't stick!

So, WHAT DO YOU USE!

Lynn

I use Zots! I use the larger ones to adhere my flowers and smaller ones for other things. Most of my pearls are adhesive, so I don't need anything else, but, I must say, that I'm not crazy about the SU pearls. They have a package of a variety, but whenever I try to take one off the backing it comes off without the adhesive. Then I use a little dot of glue. I really mean to write SU a note about this because I don't have the same problem with other bling that I buy. I know that it is the backing that they use.

I like the Zots too Maggie.......and use a ton of them. Since I don't usually do the big flowers on cards I just use the smaller Zots though. I generally use them on ribbon, button, brads (where I've cut off the prongs) and things like that.

I'm with you on the SU pearls! They just don't stick for me either and always have to add some glue - which I HATE! No matter what I do - and even though it dries clear - I still see the glue. I do love the tiny, tiny pearls that SU has.....just wish they stuck better.

One thing I also use for ribbon is scotch tape! If I run a strip of ribbon across the card, I usually just scotch tape it in the back since I'm going to adhere the card stock down anyway. Then I make the bow (using the bow-easy).......go to the front of the card, loosely tie a small piece of emb. floss and then use a zot to get that down on the card - AND then use a zot on in the back of the bow to attach it over where it's tied.. (Did ANY of that make sense!!! LOL)

Can't think of much else I adhere on cards......um....will have to thing some more on that.

Oh speaking of Zots! I just read on Pinterest the other day how to make your own! Has anyone tried that yet?

I mostly use ribbon, brads, and sticky rhinestones/pearls for embellishments (and of course, today I used an EYELET!!!)... so I don't need to use much adhesive. When I do, I use those mini dots (SU and others have them). I also use the red sticky strip on the back of the layer if I have a lot of ribbonn on the piece I'm adhering. I love Love LOVE my ATG gun!!!

Thanks for the prize, Darlene - I have recently had two packages from the States that took about a week to arrive, so your timing is pretty good - in theory at least One never knows what the Post Office will do!!

Adhesives - double sided tape, the odd bit of white (PVA) glue, glue dots and once in a blue moon or less, the hot glue gun (hate that), and an even greater hate, a glue stick!!. It really depends on what I am gluing and how/where I want it stuck!! PVA I sometimes even use to put an image on with as if you need precise positioning, you have a wee bit of leeway to move it, but you use the glue sparingly so it doesn't squish out!!

I go through a ton of glue dots. I really like the small size for those little embellishments, but I also have some that are about 1/2" to 3/4" in size. I love these and use them all the time. I bought a huge roll of them (1,000) when I was teaching, from Really Good Stuff, but I haven't seen them offered in their catalog since. Guess I'll have to do a Google search soon , as I am running out!

Hmmm, I heard a rumor regarding prizes!?! So thoughtful of you Darlene! I love surprises, so will be looking forward to fun mail.

Well, this weekend I got some DT cards done, but did not work ahead on any as I had planned. I also got a few just for fun cards done, to be posted in the next few days. As you may recall, I have been unmounting my SU sets. Well I took a long break from that (as in almost the entire month of August!) after finishing flowers, generic, and all occasion categories. But I got in the mood again this weekend to continue. I am currently working on my sentiment sets. I still have seasons, holidays, animals, nature and misc. to do! It does get overwhelming to think about! One stamp set at a time.

I think you need to do a tutorial on this technique.

Oh, make your own Zots!!! I need that information.

Well, M, I can totally relate to the challenge of being organized! Seems all of my organizational skills get used up at the office At home, not very much. I'm kinda Jekyll & Hyde on this one.

But go ahead and use some eyelets this week! There is still time! Come on, you know you want to...

(don't worry, I'm just a trouble maker)

DOTW:
When I emailed Lynn my topic, I was struggling with 1 set of my cards. I had these "self adhesive" flat-back gemstone or pearl types of embellies. Man! Only about, half of them came off with the adhesive so that I could put them on the cards. Grrrr.

I haven't tried any from SU, these were from Recollections. Sometimes I've used Crystal Affects because they say it dries clear. It does but it's- little shiny if you get any squished around the edges.

So this lead me to wondering what you all do.

Me do a tutorial! Yikes! I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Let me look on Pinterest and see find that info on making glue dots. I'm thinking it's under my Papercrafts board.

OK, I can't find it under my boards in Pinterest which means I saw it and then didn't pin it for whatever reason...........but, I did find it here on SCS Make Your Own Glue Dots
Basically it sounds like you use Tack it Over and Over and drop dots of glue on wax paper. Once they dry - you have your dots!

Good morning & Happy Tuesday!

Maggie, enjoy your extra day off, OK?

Me? Well, it's past time for me to get in the shower & ready to work. Guess I'd better shift into high gear!

Have a great day everyone!

Fabulous idea Lynn. TFS I've been wanting to get some really large ones to use for the backs of handmade flowers, but this would be great to make my own. I have some Aileen's but not sure if it is the same kind. Gotta check that out.

Evening all.............

I also found a deal on Pinterest last night about making your own pearls! You have to have something called pearl powder or something like that. Let me find it and I'll copy and paste it here.

Did everyone have a good day????? Mine wasn't good at all I'm afraid! I went to the doc last week for the "girly do" and she said my blood pressure was too high and they wouldn't do the eye surgery if it was that way - so she put me on some type of blood pressure med. Not a problem - EXCEPT - it keeps going up - not down! This morning it was 198 over 80!! YIKES! I didn't know whether to try and see a doctor or just have Jim slap me in the hospital! LOL! Anyway, went to the doc and he almost had a stoke when he saw it. So they put me on another one to see if that works. I'm not going to be a happy camper at all if I don't get this thing fixed on Monday! The doctor said to not even take my blood pressure reading anymore until I go get my eye done - and hope for the best! Geeze!!!! Oh and he said to avoid all stress.........now come on, if you know someone is going to be slicing into your eye, wouldn't you just be a little stressed!!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me on all this!

That would be good to know Lynn. You find lots of great stuff on Pinterest.

What meds did the doctor put you on? I'm on Diovan HCT and it has worked great! Mine is normal now every time I go to the doctor. Are you cutting salt out of your diet? Sodium makes you BP go up? You need to look at all the ingredients of prepared foods that you eat.

Oh my goodness Lynn - what a kerfluffle!! Will pray for you bp to come down. Eye surgery is not a nice thought, but DH has had to have injections in one eye for some time now, and after the first one he was pretty much ok with it - it actually seems worse before you experience it than it really is - if that is any comfort.

Have had a busy morning, and the afternoon is looking similar if I want to go to the craft fair tomorrow with a clear conscience , and away for the weekend! Note to self - must look for the glue tomorrow so I can try the glue dots.
