Mom & I spent today getting things around their house ready for dad's return. Interviewed in-home medical care, prepared list of meals he can eat, went shopping for groceries, dealt with insurances, got the walker, cane, shower bench, etc. here, and other such activities. Hoping that he comes home tomorrow. Saturday at the latest.

Prayers for all of us here, we can surely use them!
Yes, prayers for all who can use them.

Sounds like you guys are pretty much set for your dad's return home. I hope he does get to come home soon and everything will go as planned.

Maggie, crocheting?????? Am I the only one that can't do that!! I actually tried one time and found that I have two left hands! LOL! It just doesn't work for me! Have fun doing the blankets.

Paige........I agree with Darlen - you ARE the great scrapbooking goddess!!!!!! WOW! I seen the ones you've posted on your blog - and I'd be wearing out the pages looking at them too! They're wonderful! Your daughter is going to be so happy receiving something special like this!

I actually started driving when I was about 14 - probably not legally, but that's one of the nice things about living in a small town I guess. My kids started at about 15 or 16 (LEGALLY)! Except for the time we had gone somewhere and left the kids at home and my daughter decided to "go for a spin"!!! We didn't know whether to kill her or just be thankful she didn't have an accident (especially when my husband (ex) was the Highway Patrol Sgt!!!!!!! Made for an interesting evening anyway! LOL
LOL! My mom taught me all those womanly crafts when I was a kid - knitting, crocheting, sewing, cross-stitch, etc. I used to do it all a lot, but not so much since I started card making. I still have a cross stitch blanket that I started years ago for one of my DGD's. It got hard to work on because every time I sat down, my Reggie wanted to come sit on my lap. It was hard to cross stitch with a big furry kitty sitting on it. Maybe now I'll be able to get back to working on it and finish it up. It is almost finished. Of course, then I have 2 other DGC that I will need to make one for.

It went pretty well last night. I had taken fabric for 2 blankets. No idea yet who I'm going to give them to. One lady came that didn't bring anything. She was going to babysit kids if anyone brought any, but no one did so she got to sit and chat with us and ended up working on my 2nd blanket and she took it home with her to work on it. Wasn't that nice. I hope to work on mine this weekend - at least the first row around and then have the girl show me how to do the fancy second row.

LOL! Kids - they do the darndest things when you're not looking.

Rushing through, everyone -- wanted to say hi and happy weekend! I won't make it back on as dd14 has her dance 'goodbye to middle school' tonight, dd16 has a date with her beau, dd18 is picking up her prom shoes, then tomorrow dd16 has rehearsal on the other side of town, then a performance from 7:30-9:30, ds has to get to Karate boot camp at noon. And Sunday is Mother's day so I'll have to make the pilgrimage to mom's house after church And to top it all off, I touched something on my dresser last night and didn't realize - took out my contact and felt an instant BURN!! Like hot sauce in my eyeball! I had to flush it really quickly and it was on fire for hours (turned out to be a small amount of deodorant crumbled into powder and I didn't see it - oh. my. word.) This morning it was swollen half shut and had some goop that looked like the "p" word - and my optometrist is out of town and wanted to send me to someone he knows. No thanks! I went and bought medicated drops at 6:45 this morning, lol, at CVS - my life is a circus, I'm telling you!

Last night, I cried. I'm so used to this, and it's my daily walk. I'm blessed to be a stay at home mom. But I looked at the things pending to be done, I'm running out of time - I literally just crashed and asked God for some guidance on how to balance the next 3 weeks. That's all I need - time to get through graduation the first week of June! Eeek!

I found a picture of me - btw ... aren't I pretty!

Lots of love, ladies - be well!

Hi Kelly, So sorry about your eye! I can only imagine how that was feeling. Sending you BIG {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}. I know your life is always so helter-skelter. Sometimes all we can do is put it all in the Lord's hands and pray that He will take care of us. I hope that after graduation, you'll be able to have some much needed time off to rest and recoup until the school year starts again. Does your DD have plans for after HS? Don't know if you told us. Is she going off to college?

Oh, and your picture didn't come through. I'm sure you are very pretty.

Dang, I'm not even going to look. One of my FB friends posted about some beautiful ribbons and trims she bought and I really want some.

Oh, I was just looking at the cartoon type pic! I assume the green eye is the one that got deodorant powder in it! (Hope it's feeling better now Kelly)

Know what you mean about the shopping........I WILL NOT look at another single sale!!! I just ordered the Lawn Fawn stamp set and die from Ellen Hutson......the problem is that I'd just sent an order into SSS day before yesterday! Yikes! Oh well, since I don't have any stores anywhere close I guess I can splurge at least every three months or so. I haven't bought anything in SO long! I know the SU catalog comes out next month though - so am saving for that now. I've been seeing some of the "sneak peaks" and it looks like they may have some good things in it. I'm STILL mad about them retiring some of the colors though!!!!! I heard the new catalog was going to have a hexagon punch in it maybe so that'd be great to have.

Happy Mothers Day girls - I will be travelling in the afternoon so will be quite here tomorrow.

I have got another couple of cards made today, so have been churning them out recently - hopefully I will get time to blog some of them while I am away....

DH will be home on his own, (although my dear neighbour will keep an eye out for him) so prayers for him will be appreciated.

Praying for all those with needs - including strength for you Kelly

Oh no! I hope you're able to recover what's on your hard drive. I know that it is possible. Maybe a computer store will be able to do that. Good luck. I'd hate to lose my stuff. Which reminds me. I should back up my digis to my external hard drive.

Safe travels Maxine. Give those grands some good snuggles!

Praying that your DH will survive your being gone.

I've been working on cleaning up and packing up my storage/scrap/stamp rooms. Anyone in the market for some old scrapbook magazines? They are getting tossed. I do have a bunch of card making ones also and I'm going to go through those and see if there are ideas in any that I want to keep. Then the rest go also.

Paisley has an o/v with the vet this morning at 11, just to check her out. I'll pick up Chancey's remains (ashes) while I'm there. I've got our Mother's Day dinner later today with my DD at 5. I think I'm going to go get breakfast and make a quick trip to the grocery store before the vet. I did stop at one store on my way home last night, but they don't carry everything I need.

Went out to the grocery store before taking Paisley to the vet. She had a good checkup. Vet said her mouth and teeth looked great! Surprised me since her sibling brother had rotten teeth before he passed away. I'm thinking maybe his bad teeth were because of the tumor in his jaw. Her B/P was normal and everything else was good. No shots because she is indoors only. She did say that Paisley's right kidney was a little smaller than the left one, but also said that may not mean anything. They took some blood for testing and the vet will call me on Monday with results.

Spent some time going through recipe books/magazines. I'm going to toss a bunch of those as well as scrapbooking magazines that I never use. I'm going to try to go through some of the recipe magazines and copy the ones that I want to save and trash the magazine. I've got too many.

Dinner at the kids was very nice. My SIL made fajitas using portabello mushrooms instead of meat. They were very tasty with all the other trimmings. My DD said they are trying to eat less meat. I hope they eat it when they come to my house for dinner because I have a bunch of it in my freezer.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

I am sorry I have disappeared for nearly a week. Last Wednesday, my sister called to say they were rushing our mom by ambulance to the hospital in the city. They wanted to take her by helicopter, but the weather conditions didn’t allow that. My sister lives about a block from my parents; I live a hard 8-hour drive away… so my sister usually takes care of things and I come on an as-needed basis. This time I felt I needed to come immediately because my sister’s husband was in the local hospital (in the opposite direction of the city) having had an unexpected/emergency surgery the day before.

I dropped everything, packed and was on the road in about 2 hours time.

My mom was in the hospital for 3 days and has since gone home with information about what has been making her pass out for years (they hadn’t been able to figure that out before). She has been advised on what to do if/when she thinks she is going to pass out, so hopefully she can do better now. Worst case scenario, she may be looking at a pacemaker in the future, but for now the doctor didn’t think that was necessary.

My BIL is still not doing well. He will have another surgery today – and yet a third one tomorrow. But since my parents are home and able to handle things on their own right now, I came home. I have so much to do before I leave for Thailand in just over 3 weeks so needed to be home.

I do not have time to read the threads and catch up, so please let me know if I missed anything important. Thanks!

DISCUSSION OF THE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about some things like Big Shot, Cuddlebug, Silhouette, Cameo, etc..........What are you using and do you like it. If you could get a different one what would it be. I'm not even sure what a Silhouette or Cameo do!!!!! I know some of you have the Cricut - was it worth the money you paid for it, etc.... Do you have a favorite embossing folder or die you use and if so, what are they. Where do you buy your dies/embossing folders, etc. or do you even have a favorite place.

Thanks!
Jeanette, so sorry about your mom and BIL. I'm glad that your mom is back home and better. Hope that she can continue to be okay. Sending prayers up for your BIL.

I have a Cricut and a Cuttlebug. I also have a Big Shot that I bought second hand, but haven't tried using it yet. I think the Cameo is like a Cricut, but you can attach it to your computer to cut anything. I don't have a favorite, but I like using Elegant Edges and Paper Lace for my card making. I have a bunch of EF's, but don't have a favorite. I just use whichever my project calls for. I don't see any reason for me to buy anything else untill I start using what I have more.

Evening my Addicted Friends!!!

My dad is doing better - a bit of progress each day so that is good!! I think that by the time I leave next week he may be strong enough to forego the walker!! His swelling is so bad though - they took the drainage tubes out when he came home from the hospital on Saturday. Even though they taught me how to care for him and the tubes. I think he would be more comfortable with less swelling.

Jeanette, as I mentioned in another thread, prayers continue for your Mom and BIL. I hope that you can keep your wits about you as you prepare for your trip to Thailand.

Shelly: fingers & toes crossed that DH can recover some of your files. How awful for you.

Maggie: good news about Paisley's teeth! You are overdue for happy news from the vet!

Maxine: hoping that your DH does better than mine has while you are away. Stock up on all those precious hugs and kisses while you are there!

Lynn: great DOTW, I have a Cricut and a Big Shot. Use the Big Shot on almost every card. Love it! The Cricut was an amazingly kind gift from DH for Christmas one year. I was over-the-moon happy to get it. But, alas, I think I need to give it away to someone who will use it more. It doesnt seem to cut intricate designs very well and often I give up in despair. This makes me sad because I thought it had such potential

Hi all - life is hectic here!! I arrived to DD having laryngitis on Sunday afternoon, and now both kidlets also have sore throats, and it is off to the doctors tomorrow. DD had such a broken night last night that she slept for 2 hours this afternoon... so needless to say I am getting loads of cuddles from the littles.

Just hope I don't take the bugs home to DH, who so far is coping well. I feel as though I have had a couple of gym sessions today I am so tired!!

Prayers continue for those in need. Hope things are looking up and continue to look up for those dealing with health concern for themselves or others. Life certainly has its ups and downs to keep us one our toes.

DOTW: I have a Big Shot which I use on most card. But the original multi-purpose platform that came with the machine cracked and they don't make those anymore. So I have to find a new way to sandwich my Spellbinders dies. I also have and use the original red Sizzix die cut machine. I have a ton of dies for that one, which can also be used on the Big Shot.

I have had a Cricut for a very long time and just starting using it again. Most recently I purchased a cartridge called The First Few Years and used that to make 20 scrapbook pages for DD to fill with pictures of her daughter. I also enjoy using Create A Critter, Create A Critter 2 and Elegant Edges. I would love to get any of the discontinued Hello Kitty cartridges for it. You can use your computer with the Cricut, with their online program, but I choose not to.

I had my eye on the Silhouette Cameo, but decided I had better give my Cricut another shot before investing in another machine. I can't use my computer/printer downstairs where my stamp room is, so will most likely not get a Cameo.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Thank you for your sweet words, thoughts, and prayers for my mother and BIL! I appreciate each of you so much! My BIL is in pre-op at this moment, his next (3rd) surgery will begin shortly.

Darlene, I'm so glad to hear/read an update from you! I've been praying and praying. Glad to hear your dad is progressing nicely. I'm sure your parents are very THANKFUL for your loving presence during these times!

Maxine, sorry the wee ones are sick.... not a good way to get snuggles, I'm sure... but I'm glad you're taking such good care of them!

I have a Big Shot, Cuttlebug, and Cricut. I use my Cuttlebug A LOT, my Big Shot SOME, and my Cricut NEVER.

Morning everyone!

Darlene, glad all is going well. Hang in there.

Darlene, so sorry everyone seems to be ill again - get all the hugs and kisses while you can and have a good stay.

DOTW! I only have a Cuddlebug. I really like it a lot but notice it's getting kinda "loose". I usually have to run embossing folders and dies through twice now. Not good, but don't want to have to pop for the money on a new one. Due to limited space I think the CB is good for me. I know there's a lot of things you can't do with one compared to the Big Shot - but um.......maybe later. Everyone says the BS is so nice though!!! I wouldn't even know what to do with a Cricut or Cameo or any of that type of stuff. Am I getting behind on the times now or what?!!! LOL! The dies - I like the Spellbinders of course - great for normal shapes. Just wish I had a whole lot more!! When I first bought one I didn't know any difference between Classic/Small/Large, etc. So like I have circle and fancy circles and of course they don't do together! I still use my Cozulla (spelling) because of that. Does anyone besides me still even have that thing? Other dies - I love almost all the Memory Box ones - just never know what to do with like the flourishes, branches, and all. Last week I ordered a Lawn Fawn stamp set with the matching dies. We'll see if I'm pleased with that or not. Embossing folders - I probably use my Swiss Dots more than anything. Love that sucker! Also like the Square Lattice one from SU.

Still working on this dang kitchen project - the chairs were started yesterday and will be through this morning!!! Yeah!! Then the table legs are next - and then DONE! Thank goodness. I may try to get some stamping in since I don't have anything to post for the rest of the week. Just can't get my mind wrapped any of it right now.

Glad to hear that your dad is doing better. I hope he continues to progress nicely.

Yes, definitely good news and I got a call yesterday from the vet saying that all her lab work was all good too, so no worries about anything.

I have trouble with my Cricut also cutting inticate designs - like Paper Lace. I love that cart. I think it might have to do with the mat that I'm using though. Did you know they have 3 different mats for the different kinds of things that you cut. I bought all 3 of them. I'd like to try cutting chipboard and also felt. I think I may try a new blade too and see if that helps.

Sorry about the sickies, but glad that you are there and able to get some snuggles in with the kiddos. Yes, be careful with the baby kisses so you don't get sick.

Paige, can't you get some kind of replacement through SU for your Big Shot since they sell it?????

I don't use the Cricut withi my computer either. I do have a Gypsy to go with it, but I'm still learning how to use that.

You got it almost right - it's Coluzzle! I still have some of those. I think I have a square, round and rectangle and 2 of the mats and the knife. I haven't used any of it in years though.

I love flourish dies. You can just put them anywhere on your cards.

Yeah for getting the kitchen finally done - pictures please!

DToW - I had a cuttlebug, and use it heaps, and have loads of spellbinders dies and lots of embossing folders......... not that I use them all the time I sometimes have to use extra shims in the cuttlebug with some of the fancy dies from other firms.
I still have and use my colcuzzle circle set as I don't have a good range of circle dies - yet!

Dr visit soon so better get off here - there is also a book that needs reading to Miss 3 yr old!

Coluzzle - yep, that's what those things are! LOL! Like Maxine, I use mine quite a lot due to not having the circle dies that fit the other dies I have. I've even got one that has funky looking stars on it - never have used it though!

Glad y'all mentioned that about the Cricut - I really thought they had to hook into your computer! Didn't know you didn't have to do that. What's the difference between a Circut and a Gypsy - other than having to use the Gypsy with the computer. I mean, does it do the same thing or what?

Paige, maybe you could put something on the BST forum on SCS to see if anyone has one of the plates you're looking for!

The Spurs are fixing to come on TV so gotta go......................

Default Checkin In

Waving Hello from warm and Sunny Illinois! We had sunshine today!

I am using my computer on/off- it comes up and then I can use it for an undetermined amount of time, then it just goes into a mode where the little circle thing just keeps going - like a page is loading.

I have been running like a Chicken with my head cut off- sorry I have not been to blogs- I will get to them in a day or two. I am working tomorrow- and will be planning on going to my parents this weekend- I think with my sister.

Jeanette and Darlene- keeping all of your family members in prayers! My Dad has been discharged from the hospital, and went to Rehab- he will not be released until he can stand/bear weight on his own- which is good. My Mom is home and looks totally exhausted. She needs TLC too.

Lynn- I use a Big Shot- cause my Cuttlebug broke. I use it for everything. If I have dies that do not cut well, I add a shim made from the bottom of a Chipolte pan...hehehe aluminum......works like a charm!

I have a Cricut and use it with the Make the Cut- I hope I can use it on the computers I have been using- they are really OLD....! I know this computer will crash with the program.......My cricut does not cut intricate dies either. With the Make the cut, I do not need to buy all of the dies- people give away tone of free files of shapes just like die cuts, and there are instructions about how to make your own. Provocraft sued MTC and you are not 'supposed' to be able to cut with MTC anymore, but I do not update mine, so can cut all of the files still : ) If anything quits, I would buy another, but I do not use it much. I could see using it alot when the kids get married and have kids though, like Paige!

Maggie- glad you are doing well and that the kitty is healthy!
Maxine- sounds like you are having a good week- cuddles sound awesome!
Lynn- hope all is well- have you been getting any rain?
Kelley- waving Hi!

I better get off here before it crashes! I was able to do a blog post tonight, so know it is just a matter of time!

Shelly

Sorry I haven't gotten by here earlier. Jim had a doctors appointment in San Antonio today. Takes an hour and a half to get there, so left at 10:30 - and finally got home a few minutes ago at 7:00 p.m. Grrrrrr......... He had to have a skin cancer cut on some more so it was a matter of them cutting some, taking it to the lab, cutting some more, taking it to the lab, cutting some more........etc.........LONG day and I'm so tired of driving. Now we get to go back again tomorrow and do a different appointment!!! NOT fun!

Hopefully tomorrow won't take as long so will be able to check in then!
