Shelly, I just saw on the news while ago about y'all expecting that 6-12 inches of snow you were talking about! YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least you'll be off for a while and may not have to get out in it much.

I know Paige has really been hit hard too on the snow and cold weather! NOT FUN!

Y'all stay safe.

Still hot and dry here - most of the North Island is now officially a drought zone - one area is the driest it has been in 60 years, and there is no significant rain expected for three weeks or so

Quick "check in" here this morning! On my way to San Antonio to doctors appointment for Jim. Nothing serious just one of the "run of the mill" type things. Doubt if I'll have time to do any shopping there - bummer!
Will be back later...............

Default Hello

Hope the appt goes well Lynn.

I am playing catch up with all of my stamping commitments this week- how on Earth I got so much on my plate is killing me- I signed up for a mingle here and an ATC exchange there and it is all due NOW! I made a long list of what I need to accomplish so I do not forget anything.

Stephi is home on Spring Break this week-she is very busy, but I am shopping with her today and then I have Chinese class tonight. Tomorrow AM she is headed to St Louis (about 4 hours from here) on the train to visit a friend. She will be back Sat night at 11PM.

We are going to Book of Mormon Saturday night with a group. I hear it is great, so I am looking forward to it.

Hope everyone has a great day= looks like we got about 10-12 inches of snow total- it is so beautiful- especially when you look down the street- the trees look like a tree tunnel with snow on the branches.....love it. Only problem is the dog- he has a terrible time finding a good place to do his 'duty'...hehehe

Shelly

Kelly, one daughter and one son was more than enough for me!!! LOL! And, still is! They grow up and leave home - but you still worry about them all the time! Part of being a parent. I know how super busy you are right now - but try to enjoy every second of all that running around, etc, because before you know it - it's all gone! We've gotten so used to all the peace and quiet around here so now when they all hit the house at the same time, we just sometimes want to pull our hair out! LOL! When they all get ready to go home, we usually stand on the front porch, wave to them with huge smiles on our face, and then turn around and say - we LOVED them being here but now we finally have peace and quiet again! LOL!!!!!

Got though with the doc in San Antonio - all is well for now which is always good news. Didn't even get to go shopping though - maybe I'll scoot back up there next week.

Shelly, hope you and Stephi had a good shopping day! Can't believe all the snow y'all had! But know it's beautiful.

Good morning, girls! We have WINTER again! woot! LOL!! Yep, 46* at 6:30 am and I have all the windows open, cleaned up the house (sweeping, mopping, bathrooms - yeck - and laundry which NEVER ends in this house. It doesn't help that dd16 is a severe asthmatic and something as tiny as dust and dander sends her into a frenzy. Dh is too but he's on so many meds for so many things, one of them helps keep it in check - he's HIGHLY allergic to cats (sniff!) and oddly, our two doggies dont' bother him. When we were dating, he was allergic to our family dog, too and always worried about us getting one when we got married. Ah, babbling ......... Maggie, hope all goes well today. I never did declaw any of the cats I owned but did neuter them - which we NEED to with our doggies!!! Soon, I hope .....

Just baked a batch of homemade chocolate cupcakes .. there is enough to share!! The house smells sooooo yummy, though with our "winter" i have all the windows open and the house is so chilly and fabulous! I love, love, love this cold weather - it was 46* at 6:30 this am when the kids went to school. Sweet!

I know ya'll are sick of winter so I'll hush!

Hugs!

We are still hot and dry here Kelly so don't mind hearing about your 'winter'

Made some blackberry jam yesterday - hmmm yummy! The berriues came from the neighbours 'thornless' bushes so were easy to pick and did not have many bugs etc which made them even better.

Hope all goes well with Casper Maggie

Have a great day girls - we are having a tree felled in the back yard today so are up early, for us!

Kelly, that weather you're having sounds great! Know y'all are enjoying it.
Maxine, your blackberry jam sounds heavenly!!! We tried to grow blackberries here one year and they just never did anything.
Hope everyone else is going good!

It has been another hot day - 80oF - and DH's brother and his wife came around and helped drop a tree, cut it up and take it away, and also dig out a flax plant that had got too big and take that and some other garden rubbish away. Then I went and used the mower to remove the buds/flowers/dead heads on from the weeds in the lawns - there is virtually no grass to speak of. . I am currently sitting on the deck, the coolest place and have the laptop out here....

Morning Addicted Friends!

We are getting loads of snow dumped on us right now. But, not as much as others in the country received, compliments of this same storm. It snowed all day yesterday, yet only amounted to about an inch due to the temps. But overnight and now is a different story. Looks like at least 8 inches out there. Right now I think it looks so pretty. But digging out the cars will be another story. LOL

The vet called and said he did fine through the surgery. I'll go later today to pick him up. He'll have a pain patch for 5 days and will still need to be isolated for a few days while his paws heal. He has to have special litter and I don't want the other 2 cats getting into it so I'll just keep him in his cage for a few days before letting him start exploring his new home.

Corey is doing better outside although he does cry every so often. Makes me sad. He really needs a playmate too. At least he is being accepted into the group and none of the other kitties get after him or try to chase him off. He still runs off when I go out there and won't come anywhere near me. Wish there was a way to reason with these guys.

Sounds like you were a busy girl yesterday. My house is such a wreck. I really need to do some serious cleaning and need to get busy again on finding a cleaning lady.

Yummy - Chocolate cupcakes. I went to an women's activity last night at church which included dinner. They had BBQ, beans, potato salad and an iced brownie for dessert. I ate the BBQ without a bun, but ate everything else. Not good for the WW.

We're expecting some rain this weekend. I sure hope it's not too bad. Hate it for my kitties, but we need it.

Your blackberry jam sounds yummy. Do you make freezer jam or the regular kind with the parafin on top?

Wow! That's a lot of snow. Do you have to get out in it to go to work? It does always look so pretty when it first falls.

I've decided that it's time to make some changes in my life. It is getting too busy and too stressful. A lady friend from church called me last night (also the Bishop's wife) and asked me to come help teach the Young Women at church how to do Genealogy. It will be the 2 Tuesdays after Spring Break week next week. I'm more than a little intimidated by kids, so it's going to be interesting. Now I just have to figure out how to do the presentation. One good thing I learned was that they are updating our WiFi at church so they will all have their connections to the Internet for it.

Then, I have 2 GF's that want to come stamp with me. My GF at work wants me to teach her everything about how I stamp and about how to use Copics.

When am I going to find time to work out?????

Yikes! Life is getting so complicated.

Morning!

Darlene, more snow??????? When will it ever end! I don't think I'd enjoy digging my car out in the mornings - and even worse would be trying to drive in it!
Hope y'all thaw out soon!

Maggie, you're sounding SUPER busy! And now a Genealogy class! You need my brother to help you - he works at the Archives in Austin and is VERY big in this! Don't think I could talk him into coming to Houston though to do your class! LOL! Hope Corey gets better and mingling, etc. It's a shame he doesn't want you close to him. Do you pick up Casper today?

Maxine, when will y'all start getting colder weather there?

Gotta run to town - may try to get a little crafting done this weekend. What's everyone else doing for the weekend?

Lynn

The nights are gradually cooling now Lynn, but the days are still much hotter and drier than normal, and no rain in the forecast until the 17th, and then it is only showers forecast...

I make regular jam in jars and sealed Maggie and I tried it yesterday and it is yummy.

Off to make up the kits for card class on Tuesday.

Maxine, I can relate to dry weather!!!! They keep saying we're suppose to get some rain this weekend, but I'll have to see it to believe it!

Tomorrow Jim's son is coming over and we're going to be making deer/pork sausage. We make the links and also pan sausage. This is an all day affair - LONG DAY - and I'm really not looking forward to it at all. Not only does it take forever and is a lot of work, but also my kitchen looks like a disaster area when we get through......and typical guys, think that they really don't have to help clean up the kitchen. The sausage will be delish though, so guess it's all good.

I'll check back in tomorrow evening hopefully.

Lynn

Default checkin in

Hi- dropping in to say Hi! Kelley- that sounds pretty chilly to me- I am a whimp when I am cold ...hehehe Maxine- 80 degrees sounds perfect to me.....
Oh yum- the blackberry jam sounds delicious!
Deer sausage also sounds delicious : ) Cleaning up after making it...not so fun....
Maggie-you are busy! I was hard core into genealogy for a while- it is so fun to meet or discover relatives and to dig up family stories. We have one really elusive Irish family, so my Dad agreed to do a DNA test..... you would be shocked to see how many people have similar DNA...... We did male DNA testing thru Family Tree......
Our snow is melting- it was a really wet snow- I love seeing all of the snowmen out and about in the neighborhood. It was high 30's/low 40's here today but the sun was out... My dog loves the snow- he dislikes getting wet I think....it is so funny to see him jump in and around the snow- he looks like a bunny hopping..... I also really like to see hte snow on the evergreens and in the trees- it is just beautiful!
I had a meeting at work and dropped by a friends house today- did some tutorials on the Paint Shop Pro and studied Chinese. Dropped in her and of course had to visit Pintrest.
Stephi left yesterday for St Louis to visit a friend- she took the Mega Bus for $10.00-got a desk seat with a plug in for her computer..... (WOW)...on the way home, she will take a train for $23.00 So, that is about 9 hours of driving if we let her take the car-we think that is awesome for the $$$ we do NOT have to spend on gas : )
Tomorrow, we are headed to Chicago to see the book of Mormon- we are going out to eat first- there are 10 in our group- I cannot wait!

Hi to everyone I did not mention above!

Have a great weekend- prob be back Sun PM
Shelly

Good morning Stamp Addicts!

Sorry no time to chat yesterday. I was busy at work with personal stuff - dealing with windows and other stuff. Boss was out of town at a meeting and the paralegal was home recuperating from minor surgery she had on Thursday, so the place was pretty quiet.

Left the office early at 4 and went and picked up Casper. He's doing fine. He has a patch on until Monday and pain pills. I got some salmon pill pockets and he loves those so he ate that pill right up this morning. When I was cleaning out the cage, he started to walk out of the cage which is good that he wants to come out, but it's too soon. He needs to be confined for 5-7 days. I'm thinking maybe Monday night when I get home from work. OH, and he actually purred for me today!!!!!!! I was so happy to hear that little noise. On the other hand, Corey is still Corey.

My contractor came over after I got home and we figured out how big to make the patio. I need to do some research about what kind of roof I want on it. He also told me he knows a guy that installs windows. I told him to give him my number and I'd have him come give me an estimate. They are the same kind of windows that Lowe's uses, so it'll be interesting to see what the difference is in the quotes. Not sure when that will be. Hope it's soon. I want to get this all in the works.

I have a baby shower to go to this morning and I think I'll go by the grocery store on my way home. Then I'll have the rest of the day for household chores and stamping.

I made 2 cards last night. One for a challenge I wanted to take part in and the other was a boy baby card. I used the same image I used for the Cuddle Cloud Baby card I made 2 weeks ago, just used blue colors for it. I need to take a photo so I can put it up on my blog.

LOL! Lynn, that's good to know that your DB is involved in Genealogy. If I had a Texas connection in my tree, I'd go there to do research. I've been doing my own research for many, many years, but still have more to do myself. Enjoy your visit with Jim's son. I have a friend who gave me some deer sausage. It's pretty yummy. My dad used to hunt when I was much younger and I always liked venison.

Glad that your jam turned out good Maxine. Have you ever tried making a fruit curd? I love it made with raspberries.

Shelly, we were able to find my mother's grandfather's father through using DNA. My 2nd cousin who lives in NJ found descendants of the person we thought was the man, and they did a full DNA analysis and turned out we are related to him which makes his ancestor my great, great grandfather. It's amazing what you can do these days.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of The Book of Mormon. My boss was supposed to see it when he went to New York last year, but he was there right before Sandy hit and they left there early before the storm so they missed seeing it. I've heard mixed reviews about it.

Quick "check-in" here before all the work begins. Nothing like getting an early start on things! LOL! That's what I love about Jim's children - they want to do stuff like this and then wait until the day is half over with! Grrrrrrrr.......... And I've been up since 3:30 this morning (which doesn't help my mood at all!) due to the electricity going off and then not being able to go back to sleep! Grrrrrrr.......again!!!!!! LOL!

Will be back later!

Well, we're FINALLY through with the sausage! We stopped last night about 9:00 and were back at it again this morning. Just now got it done. Ended up putting up 47 pounds of the stuff! Whew!!!! (And now they're saying we need to get a couple of deer and wild hog and put up 100 pounds next year!! I think I'd just run away from home!!! My kitchen is a nightmare and I told Jim that Sunday was a day of rest and it'd get done tomorrow! LOL! Know I won't be able to stand it though.

I'm off to comment on a few blogs and will check back in later.

Lynn

Yikes! That's a lot of sausage! It's so funny because I was on a FB Fan page for Simply Betty Stamps and one of the ladies posted that she was making sausage all day today. I had to look at the name to make sure it wasn't you. LOL!

I did enjoy the shower. Everyone loved the card that I made. I gave her a GC to Target. Glad I did because she got a ton of clothes for this boy (she has a girl now), so this way she can buy diapers if that's what she's going to need or anything else she might need. The hostess had the event catered and there was a ton of food, all very yummy. She had to give away the leftovers because she was leaving that day to go to Florida with her DD for Spring Break. Great thing is that in 2 Fridays she's also hosting another baby shower for another girl from church only it's on a Friday day and I'm sure she'll have it catered too.

I got quite a bit done yesterday - had all the laundry to do, which reminds me I still have towels in the washer to put in the dryer and clothes in the dryer that I need to get out.

Worked on my Pins card last night which will be my last one for them and then today got my PSC card done. That one gave me a really hard time. It's very simple. I just could not come up with a good layout to use. Ugh! Hate when that happens.

I was going to clean out Casper's litter box earlier and saw that he had pulled off his pain patch. Ouch! I'm sure that hurt, but I didn't hear him make any noise. One less thing I have to mess with him about. He still has pain pills to take this week - M - W - F. Trying to decide if I should keep him in the cage until he's done with those so I don't have a problem giving them to him.
