Good morning Stamp Addicts. Foggy out this morning and still on the chilly side.
Yes I'm sorry .. I knew it was a college and typed High School, prob because I spend hours on end at one volunteering! So sad. I rarely even watch the news anymore due to the epidemic crimes I'm seeing ... I watch just enough to stay alert and educated.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Jeanette, aren't those Dahle cutters tempting? I believe they are German, and they usually make precision machines. I've read such great things about both the Dahl & the Genesis. Genesis is made in the US.

They do look impressive, Darlene! The Dahl one looks easier to use to me... but I could be wrong. It's the one that is tempting me. hmmmmmmmmmmmm... guess I'd have to get a job to get a bonus, wouldn't I? LOL!

Default Hello

Hi all!
I just bought the new SU trimmer...it is my 3rd cutter I have purchased since stamping..... Oh, I use that line about needing the good stuff before I retire too..... I like the SU trimmer, and I think I have a few more years to work before I have to make a decision to cut way back on my spending......Oh I cannot wait to retire!

Lynn, I have multiple allergies- I get allergy shots (again) in the last 1 1/2 yrs, and they really help me. They give you one shot for every 20 things you react too...I get 2 a week. I also take Allegra daily, use a nasal spray and use the Netti pot 2 x's a day. I also have a list of foods related to allergans that I am supposed to avoid. I'll copy it and send it to you.

Maxine- ouch- I hate getting dental work, let alone getting a tooth pulled.... hope you heal quickly!

Does anyone watch Nashville? I think it is great- lots of twists and turn in each episode.

Off to bed- its the beginning of my week off- yeah!

Shelly

Mine is a Dahle 507 - and yes, it does cut true in every which way. I can get a cut as tiny as 0.5mm!! I would be lost without it!

Well the Dahle 507 certainly is much more affordable and gets excellent reviews too. It takes up a lot less space too which is a big consideration for me...decisions, decisions.

Maxine, did you say whether you've had to replace the blade yet? I think it's steel & self sharpening, can cut in either direction. Does it have a cutting mat that needs replacing? An old rotary cutter I have from Cutterpede has this cutting mat that gets too worn to use and is a pain to keep replacing.

Also, does the arm for the blade obscure the view of your paper? Can you see exactly where the blade will cut? That's what I like about the Genesis, you can see exactly where the cut will be, love the light underneath on that trimmer.

Good morning Stamp Addicts.

That Dahle sure is tempting, and if I can spend $$ on SU products, I should be able to get a good cutter.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

My morning just got smiley!!! Maxine, that Dahle 507 is MUCH less expensive than the Dahles I saw in my google search. I might be able to get one of them without too much regret of the price. Truthfully, the latest Fiskars I purchased was more than that - and I don't even think it cuts true to square.

Can you give yourself the shots, or do you have to go to the doctor to get them? Sounds like you do so much for your allergies.

Everytime Maxine posts about her dental work, I remember that I need to call and make an appointment.

I didn't get into Nashville, but I have been watching Vegas with Dennis Quaid. It's pretty good.

Morning all - I have just had the lovely experience of my reply disappearing into thin air ... so here goes again

Cutter Answers:

I have replaced the blade once in 8-9 years
There is no cutting mat

The plate used to hold the paper/card is transparent and has some subtle lines moulded into it that I also use for lining things up with.

So yes, you can see exactly where you are cutting!!!!

The plate also can be detached for cleaning the cutting channel - this usually does not get cluttered, but once in a while I take it off and give things a good sort out.

Love, love, love my cutter and would be lost without it!!

Sorry I didn't make it back over here last night. Hubby is sick now - no flu, just the super crud. Took him to the doc this morning and got a steroid shot and Z Pack. Hope that helps. He slept all but about 4 hours yesterday! Thank goodness we weren't both sick at the same time - and I'm feeling SO MUCH BETTER!

Shelly, those allergies can really knock you down! In Jan. and Feb. we have a lot of Mountain Cedar..........they're about 40/50 miles away, but do a complete number on everyone's allergies. I've even know people around here to move out of the area they're so allergic to them!

Am I dreaming this - or did Shelly say she was going line dancing!!!!!!! I WANT A PHOTO! Actually I've done it several times but just am not coordinated enough for it or something. It's like I have two left feet out there on that! LOL!

Cutter........I heard from a blogging buddy that she has a Tonic cutter and LOVES it!!! I've got to get something else - just don't know what yet. I've also heard that the SU paper trimmer is great - but I'm trying to get away from having to buy blades all the time. I think the Genesis would be fabulous - but to be honest, just not afford it. I'll have to look at the Dahl and Tonic - and maybe even SU. The one I have is cheap, cheap, cheap...........and need something bad.

Off to try to get a couple of cards done. Hubby is sleeping again so all is quiet around here.

Lynn

Hehehehe yep Lynn, Line Dancing.....we'll see how it goes...... I am having a Norwex party in the afternoon Sat., then our friends will come here at 6PM and we will serve appetizers, then we will go for dinner and line dancing!

As for Allergy shots- they do not let me give my own shots because I have asthma.... I have not had a bad asthma attack for about 10 years, since I was started on a med called Singulair- which has been wonderful, because asthma attacks are no fun!

Lynn- hope your hubby recovers quickly! Did you two have a flu shot?

Dang, wish I knew about that cutter before I bought the SU cutter- I do like the SU one, but I have not had a cutter that has lasted long.....

Off to chat with my son on the phone : )

Kelly, I'll be sure and stop by tomorrow. Can't wait to see your creations!

Jim had the flu shot but I didn't........next year for sure though!!!

My brother had horrible asthma attacks until he was about 18 and then they went away. All of that came back though about 5 years ago. He's 70 now. Don't know what he takes but he really has to watch being around someone that smokes and all that.

Have fun line dancing......I guarantee, it will wear you out!!! What's a Norwex party?

Lynn

I must go look up this Dahle ..... I'm intriqued

Shelly, my dh is a severe asthmatic and my dd16 and ds8 are just mild asthmatics. It's nothing to look lightly at, that's for sure. My husband almost died on our oldest daughter's first birthday. They took him via ambulance to the ER and he stayed for 2 full weeks to recovery. Scary times. He's had me back at the hospital 2 more times since then for other illnesses, but that's another story(ies) alltogether! He keeps me crazy!

Blessings all - off to get my dd for an appt and a very busy day ahead. Ugh.
I just want coffee. And a book. And some sleep would be good!

I've got a women's meeting at church tomorrow so I'll be gone most of the day. I do need to work on my DT cards and get the grocery shopping done.

Tried to get a GF to go out to dinner tonight, but she had other plans. Next week.

It was up to 77* here today and supposed to be in the mid 70's over the weekend. I'm so glad for some sunshine.

Thanks Maggie. Yes, Jim is doing somewhat better today. That Z pack is doing the trick I think. He's still not 100% but he was starting to disagree with me on some stuff today, so know he's getting better! LOL!!!

It's going really well thanks Darlene - I didn't get 'dry socket' this time and all is good - nearly back to normal

I'm glad of that. Dry socket can be so painful.

Morning Addicted Friends!

Maggie: enjoy your busy day!

Maxine - Dry socket is the worst thing, it makes me shudder just thinking about it. So VERY glad that you have avoided it!!

Hello Jeanette!

Shelly, we want a full account of the line dancing. I am such a klutz - but would be great entertainment for all those watching LOL

Lynn, still on the road to recovery? It's been long enough and time to be fully back to normal.

Gloriously sunny morning here, and not as cold either. Temps above zero. Heat wave!

Morning everyone!!!!!!!

All is pretty good around here. Maggie, take care of that tooth! Darlene, I'm going so much better now. Hope February looks better for us - maybe spring will be here soon.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Just an additional comment to the DOTW - never buy cheap double sided tape - I usually buy the Sellotape brand from the local supermarket (which means I slip it into the trolley and the 'house' pays for it). Recently they changed brands there, and I am regretting even buying the first roll, and I still have one roll to go.

As our income is limited now we are retired, I buy standard width tape, and then cut it in half as I go as a thrift measure.

I had never had to clean my scissor blades so often - the glue sticks to them something terrible, the backing paper tears, and sometimes the tape itself will tear. Utter frustration!.

So glad that I was told that rubbing alcohol cleans the gunk off the blades.

Morning all!

Maxine: I feel your pain! I only use 3M double sided tape, it's strong and really sticks. But it is expensive. However, up here we have a warehouse store called Sam's Club (it's WalMart's warehouse store) and the tape is quite a bit less expensive there. I can buy a pack of 6 large rolls for the price of about 2.5 rolls if bought anywhere else.

Some time ago I received an ATG by Scotch and it took me a while to get the hang of it. But now I love that and thanks to some tips by others on SCS I buy refills at the Tape Depot.com for a good price and I actually like that adhesive better than Scotch that's made for the gun.

You are so right, cheap adhesive is no bargain. Whether it's glue, tape, foam dots, etc. Quality matters.
