I've been busy at the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington, TX so just got back last night. Will be updating my blog with adventures from there and some Tim Holtz fun at his demo booth! Check out his new book, if you haven't seen it, it rocks and is a great reference tool for sure!
Wow- sounds as if you must have had loads of fun, Leslie! I'll look forward to seeing your blog update. I love Tim Holtz and did get his new book, but have not have much of a chance to read much yet.
So how is everyone? Where is everyone? I guess everyone's been pretty busy, and I can't say I'm any different! With school coming to an end, DH recently being on vacation, etc. etc., the days just whiz by!
Cassandra- are you around? I see Upallnight wants to join! Yay! Haha, I loved Jennipher's response about this giving her something to do when she is "upallnight"!
I have been busy stamping and have at least 3 cards I need to post. I'm also working on making teacher gifts and have 9 teachers to make them for, so I am going to try to either finish them up or at least take a break from them to get a post done today.
I'll check back in later... Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Okay- blog is updated! I don't often CASE cards, but I found a beauty with a gorgeous Nestability die frame and decided to try the technique for myself.
Looking forward to seeing new posts from everyone else soon, too!

Cassandra- you need to re-subscribe to the thread. I have had this happen to me and what I have done is unsubscribe and then subscribe again. That should fix things and you'll start getting email notices again
Hope all is well with you and that your online class is going well!
Question, is there a way to turn off approval needed on blogs for certain people, ie. those in our blog circles? but leaving approval needed for others? does anyone know? and would everyone agree to turn off this function for circle members if there is a way to do so?

Sorry... I don't have the approval thing going. I never thought much about it, lol! I guess I never thought I'd have enough people looking at my blog to need it, haha!
The more I thought about this, I guess it really only matters to the one having to do all the approving. I'm like you; don't have it turned on as far as I know so I guess it doesn't matter.
I've finished spreading some love on the groups blogs. Wonderful creativity happening this summer. I love seeing all the sketches, ideas and creations.

Are you referring to approval for commenting? Just saw this an was wondering what you might be referring to. I definitely don't moderate my comments on my blog.
Yup, that's exactly what I was referring to and guess as I said, doesn't really matter. I think on blogspot I have the option of removing an offensive comment (though I can't imagine getting any, I mean from another stamper? and other than us, who would bother?)
I am having a very "off" day today; I can honestly say that I am definitely being given an opportunity today to grow, I am just not liking it! : )

Your too funny! Actually you would be surprised what people will leave on your blogs as far as comments go. I once got into a religious debate on my old blog with an anonymous commenter. The individual kept leaving comments questioning my religious beliefs and I would delete them every time. So then the person made a comment about me deleting the comments. It was crazy. I ended up doing this entire post entitled "TO ANONYMOUS" and invited the individual to reveal him or her self to me if they really believed what they were trying to convince me of. I said, "why hide behind anonymous". After all, I'm a Christian and I put that out there on my blog along with a photo and my name for the whole world wide web to see. I wasn't hiding behind some "anonymous" title.
I never did found out who was trying to challenge my beliefs. The comments stopped after that post. It's a crazy world out there.
Wow, Jennipher! You are right, it's a crazy world out there.
My DD had a blog that got some pretty crazy comments- but in a way she was asking for it. It was about her political beliefs. lol! Now that really didn't surprise me, but still.. the things people say! And in your case- that they *don't* say (as in who they are!).
Well, I guess it just goes with the territory of being "exposed". I just think that having a "stamping" blog shouldn't invite too much craziness. I guess tie will tell
I just want to say it's so nice that we're chatting here again. For a little while there it was pretty quiet over here.
I also want to thank you for the recent comments on my blog. A few of you have left really nice posts regarding my most recent update and I just want to let you know how nice it has been reading them. Thank you so much ladies!
Years and years ago I got into a blog war of sorts on an old blog of mine with a guy I had one blind date with.......and I killed the blog and moved on. LOL But I guess it never occurred to me that a crafting blog would attract the same kind of crazies. LOL
As I said, I've had a really off day. I challenged someone on a business deal today and walked away just feeling icky. I've recently gotten some very disturbing legal news that I cannot shake off even though the outcome is no different than I expected. I've been trying to just "move on" with all this and today when I was posting comments and leaving some love for everyone, the little "your post will show up when approved" just struck me as "huh"? LOL Then when I got to think about it after I posed the question it was like "wait, its only an inconvenience to them, not me?" and almost had to laugh because my brain just isn't on game today.
I'm so glad I have such a loving circle of friends here who keep me honest even in my thought-life!
I finally gave up on my day and went to play with some obnoxiously bright lime green card stock for a challenge I have in a local group. I posted it on my blog but the obnoxiousness of the green doesn't really come through. It has helped alot to just play rather than try to work.
It sounds as if you have a lot going on, Leslie. Just another great thing about stamping: It's such a good diversion to our daily grind and all the crazy things that come up in life. Aren't we blessed to have found a creative outlet such as this that brings us joy, and enables us to make friends both in person and through sites like here and through our blogs?
I just popped over to your blog and saw your "obnoxiously bright" green based cards: Very cute!!!
Hang in there, Leslie! Hopefully things will settle down and tomorrow will be a more "low- keyed" day for you, in which you'll find yourself back on track!
It is wonderful that I can just drop everything and craft when the day goes bonkers on me. Because of God's grace, He has even delivered me to this ministry and a loving husband who supports me so I don't have to be at a 9 - 5 job daily! I know His grace abounds. And I love that He loves scrapping and card making as much as me! Otherwise He wouldn't have gifted me with my recent weekend away and fun toys to play with! : )

Hi ladies, would you all be interested in doing a card/tag swap? We pair up with one another make a few cards/tags, set up a deadline to have them turned in and mail them out to one another?
I am off to check out your blogs! I need to update!
Thank you for sharing this as He has blessed me with creativity too and I need to get more active in my creating and sharing! He's so good, isn't He?

Leslie, I love your Jailhouse Jesus blog and the wonderful things I read the Lord is doing in these women's lives. Wow, I love reading and hearing these stories as it builds up our faith. Thank you so much!
Jennipher, thank you for the kind words you left me I have submitted to Somerset and was published last year! Very exciting, it was awesome how the Lord laid it upon someone's heart to pick mine. He was telling me, see you are creative. I am my own worst enemy when it comes to what I think is good, etc. I am sending those there too. I don't know of any other mags that accept altered art, do you?

Thank you for taking the time to read about our ministry. I am blessed in so many ways and while Satan loves attacking me, I am lifted up each morning in some way when involved with my ministry! God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good. I laugh now when I hear this as the voices of the ladies in my current Bridges to Life Reconciliation Group at Woodman State Jail ring it out to us as we leave each Monday night.
I can only say, you want to be blessed, serve the least of these in His Name! Walk in a prison and you will never be the same!

That is SOOOO awesome!! Congrats!!!!
Okay- this brings up a few questions I have and that have been heavily on my mind over the past couple of weeks:
I have never submitted anything of mine anywhere. The thought of it seemed ridiculous to me because in all honestly I have never felt my things were "publish worthy"!! I still doubt they are, but I have had many people tell me I should try. Not sure if they are just being "nice" and polite and overly complimentary to me, or if they really mean it.
Having said that, I have been really trying to take my stamping to a higher level, so to speak, as I would LOVE to get to the point where I actually could have something published!
So... my questions for you all: And PLEASE be honest!!! I not only can take it, but I am depending on it!
#1 Do you think I should try or am I out of my league?
#2 Is the competition so hard that I am setting myself up for disappointment anyway?
#3 Is it difficult to submit? My fave magazines are the Stampington ones. As a matter of fact, I could drop off submissions to their office.
I would so very much appreciate any thoughts and advice you ladies can give me. TIA!!!
Wow! What a blessing you are to these women! God's using you to touch their lives. Hugs to you!!

I can only answer the first question as I've not submitted anything myself either........
No! You are not out of your league at all! I AM most definitely out of that league but you are NOT! Go for it. Your work is beautiful.
I am not sure I can ever reach the levels of beauty and creativity I see on here and on the blogs of those of our group; I do think I often rush through most of my work. But then I see other's work and realize, maybe I just am an "average" crafter hence why I don't really try to submit anything.
I do look forward to hearing the answers to these questions though. Is it hard? Are there so many submissions its almost futile? It's one reason I've also never tried to get on a design team. I don't think I have what it takes but would LOVE to try!
And yes, congrats Jennipher, to your publication. That must have been a real high point for you! Big kudos to you for making that first break!
For me, I was published recently in an online magazine about our ministry. Writing tends to be more my thing than original art (I tend to CASE and I'm a pretty good CASE'r!)
#1 Do you think I should try or am I out of my league?
YES, Yes yes!! Submit your cards, don't let the enemy tell you they aren't good enough, believe me, I did for a while and God thought otherwise and laid it upon someone's heart at Somerset Studio to pick mine.
#2 Is the competition so hard that I am setting myself up for disappointment anyway?
I am sure there's a lot of competition but what's it gonna hurt to try? Your creations Sarah are beautiful, I see the love you put into each one.
#3 Is it difficult to submit? My fave magazines are the Stampington ones. As a matter of fact, I could drop off submissions to their office.
Wow girl, go on their site and look at their calls and submissions, with mine I sent in a paragraph of why creating tags inspired me as someone mentioned they consider those. I don't know God's in control!
I would so very much appreciate any thoughts and advice you ladies can give me. TIA!!![/QUOTE]
