*FULL*CRAFTY GALS~Monthly challenges, caring comments & fun chit chat!
Sign ups are now closed. We are full with 11 members.
Hello ladies!
I'm so excited to be starting this group.
The idea:
1. To be a part of this group, you have to have a blog (it being a blog group that's a given I guess) and you need to be a serious blogger. At least 1 post a week. More is WONDERFUL!
2. You MUST visit your fellow Crafty Gals at least once a week and leave comments on their beautiful creations. Comments to a blogger are like that pat on the back to a child that says "good job kid!". I love knowing someone cares enough to visit my blog and then comment about the post.
3. You MUST create a blog roll with "Crafty Gals Blog Group" as the title and all your fellow Crafty Gals blogs listed.
4. *We will have 1 challenge a month. Each CG member will host a month. Our challenges will run January - November. We will leave December open for the busy holidays.
Each challenge will need to be posted to your blog on the 5th of each month. On the 5th, we would all have our creations posted to our blogs for everyone to "ohhh" and "ahhh" over These challenges will be mandatory, but they are not meant as a "RULE" so much as inspiration for the rest of us to see how you interpret the challenge.
As far as what you make it's up to you. I love to scrapbook but I make cards too and 3D projects, hair accessories, bookmarks, etc. etc., etc. All paper crafters welcome!
* We will also start weekly challenges. I will post these in post #5 every Tuesday. These challenges are NOT mandatory but more for encouragement to help get the "mojo" flowing if you're finding it hard to create that week.
5. We know life is busy and around the holidays and Summer time are the hardest to check in but I ask that we all at least check in twice a week to our thread. I want us to get to know one another and we can't do that if we don't post to our group and say "Hey" every once and a while.
6. I want this to be a close knit, CLEAN group. There's enough nastiness in the world, I want this to be a nice, welcoming environment for Gals to come and feel comfortable. So no meanies allowed! *giggle*
7. If you have been inactive either here or on your blog for 1 month without contacting me (mepylant) of a life issue you are having that is causing the inactivity, you will be dropped from the group. I know this seems harsh, but it is not fair to everyone else that is doing their part.
So, to break the "requirements" down....
1. Have a blog & post to it at least once a week.
2. Visit your fellow Crafty Gals blogs at least once a week.
3. Create (on your blog) a Crafty Gals Blog Group, blog roll.
4. Participate in the group's monthly challenges and hostess 1 challenge per year.
5. Check into the group's thread at least twice a week.
6. This is a nice, clean group. No meanies allowed!
7. Be active...if something happens contact me so I'll know what's going on.
We will welcome 11 members. That way it's not overwhelming to get around to all our Gals and the monthly challenge hostesses work out nicely.

MONTHLY HOSTESS LINEUP:
**When it is your turn to hostess a challenge, you'll send me a PM letting me know what the challenge is. Type the PM just like you were talking to the Crafty Gals. Because, what I'm going to do is cut and paste it to one of our first posts in the thread so we can go straight to the challenges and won't be looking all around the thread for them. Your challenge can be theme related, color combo, inspirational pics, a recipe (ex. use 1 brad, 2 ribbons and 1 patterned paper...etc.) or anything your heart desires. It could also be to make something other than a card, but make sure not to get too out there, we don't want to scare off our GALS! hahahaha!** THANKS!
(note: these are the dates you as the hostess should have the challenge theme PMed to me so I may post it here for all the GALS to see. Your creations should be posted to your blogs on the 5th of the following month.)

December Challenge! (a little one to get us kicked off!)
Hostess: Melina (mepylant) (posted November 9th, due on your blog December 5th)
I'm excited to get us "kicked off" GALS! Here's my challenge:
"THE POWER OF THREE!"
Make a holiday card keeping the number 3 in mind. Everything on your card has to be in 3's. 3 layers (card base does NOT count as a layer), 3 stamped images (or an image with 3 things on it), 3 embellishments (3 buttons, 3 ribbons etc. or 1 ribbon, 1 pearl, and 1 brad etc). Not 1 Not 2 Not 4....Your minimum is 3 and your maximum is 3!
Oh yes, and no words or sentimentson the front of your card. Your sentiment must be on the inside. So, if you're making a Christmas card, you must tell them Merry Christmas on the inside, not the front!
I hope you like my little challenge. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Melina
January Challenge!
Hostess: Heather (JadeOnline) (posted Dec. 15th due on your blog January 5th)
"NEWNESS"
As mentioned, I am expecting my first baby at the end of February. We're pretty excited to celebrate this new addition and new stage in our lives.
My challenge to you for the Crafty Girls January challenge is to celebrate newness....it doesn't have to be a new baby...perhaps it's a New Year, new marriage, new job, new friend, etc. In addition, use the opportunity to try a out a new technique (or template, something you haven't tried before). SCS has a great resources section with plenty of techniques, fancy folds, projects, etc.
Heather
February Challenge!
Hostess: Lela (Lmn) (due on your blog February 5th)
"ReCipE for A VaLEntiNE"
February is the month of LOVE and what could be better than showing off our idea of a "ReCipE for A VaLEntiNE". Last year DH made me chocolate dipped strawberries. He found the recipe on-line and they were fabulous. It was wonderful but a surprise as usually he gets me roses. What makes the perfect VaLEntiNE surprise? Is it candy, flowers, love notes? Let's see your ReCipE for sharing LOVE. Don't forget to add a Heart or 2 on our project.
Lela
March Challenge!
Hostess: Melina (due on your blog March 5th)
"NOT LUCK......BLESSINGS!"
Okay, so this month we celebrate St. Patty's day. Well, some of us do. I never have gotten into it that much even though I have some Irish blood in me. I guess my thing is I don't believe in luck. I believe in blessings. So, I love saying "Have a blessed day" when I'm out and about on St. Patty's Day! LOL!
So, my challenge for you is to create a project whatever you'd like, a card, scrap page, 3D item, etc....using these things:
1. 2 different shades of green.
2. Make the sentiment a "blessings" or "thankfulness" theme.
3. A Nature element somewhere on your creation. Examples: plant, sun, flower, grass, etc image and/or use patterned paper with plants, grass etc.....Any Natural element you can think of on your project.
I want you to really go "green" on this challenge!
Blessings,
Melina
April Challenge!
Hostess: Diane (Due on your blog April 5th)
"April Showers bring May Flowers"
Since April is supposed to be a rainy month in most of the country, I thought we would try a "water" challenge. My challenge to you is to incorporate water in some way on your card. It can be rain, puddles, ocean, sea, beach, lake, bathtub or anything else you can think of. In addition to the water, I want you to use ribbon, brads and patterned paper on your card. I can't wait to see your creations and I hope you all enjoy this month's challenge.
Diane
May Challenge!
Hostess: Tracie (Due on your blog May 5th)
"Celebrating Those Who Love Us"
This month's theme celebrates those who have sacrificed so much to help us become the people we are today. This could be mothers, fathers, friends, Jesus, or anyone you'd like to celebrate! On your project, include the following:
1. At least 3 layers
2. At least 2 embellishments
3. At least 1 sentiment
I can't wait to see what you come up with and the stories you share with us!
Tracie
June Challenge
Hostess: Barb (due on your blog June 5th)
Vacation!
Many of us will be taking a summer trip someplace, if even just for a weekend. So, your challenge is to create a card that shouts summer fun! Maybe a camping trip in the forest--or a trip to the ocean for a lighthouse tour or time on the beach--or a flight to another country to see the sights--or road trip to see local attractions--or biking along the rails to trails--or ....................... you get the idea. Shows us image that highlights a summer experience you have had or are planning to do in the future. Please include some patterned paper on your card--along with an additional embellishment or two........ If you want to share on your blog post a fun experience you have had on a vacation, that would be great! We all love to hear about trips--just not all of the hundreds of slides or photos.
I hope you enjoy this challenge and have a wonderful summer trip in the works--on card stock and in real life!
These challenges are NOT mandatory but are meant as a "pick me up" when your mojo is missing in action. Participate as much as you'd like.
If you have created something for a challenge, post it to your blog with title similar to "Crafty Gals Encouragement Challenge #1 (2, 3, 4, etc) so we can all come over and ohhhh and ahhhh! Then if you can, post here in the thread that you have made something for that challenge and leave a link to your blog post. Just like when you create things for challenge blogs.
There is no deadline for these weekly challenge uploads. If you were not able to participate 1 week but would like to do something weeks after, feel free!
You can also create things using more than 1 challenge. Say you missed week 1 and want to create something next week. You can, and you can even combine the 2 into your 1 creation. Say 1 challenge is a color challenge and another is add a heart to your creation. You can make a card, page, project with the color challenge and hearts. You see? This is very laid back. Use these as you wish.
HAVE FUN!
Crafty Gals Encouragement Challenge...

Athina! Your coloring is absolutely wonderful! I am in ahhhhhhhh! I'm now a follower!
Roro, that masculine card is great! I didn't see a place to follow your blog. Let me know if I missed it.
I'm awful at coloring and masculine cards. I believe I'm gonna learn a lot from you two!
Melina - Thank you so much. You are so sweet. I have only been at it about a year. I had stamps in the past but really did not know what to do with them. Then I found copics and the fun began! I love sitting in my room and just relaxing while coloring.
I am excited to learn from everyone. It will be fun!
I went to a card class today to make some really elaborate Christmas cards. I'm such a CAS paper crafter, this was a real challenge for me. All those layers...but they are beautiful.
I still think I'll stick to my simple crafting

Ok, I have the blog roll done! It looks like we have an amazing, talented group of ladies! I am hoping to get a new posting to my blog in the next day or so. I have been helping my hubby paint a van. It is more like a craft project, called Fau Tina. Hoping it turns out ok!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Monday!
I went to a card class today to make some really elaborate Christmas cards. I'm such a CAS paper crafter, this was a real challenge for me. All those layers...but they are beautiful.

I did get pics of my cards. I'll try and get them in my gallery in the next day or so. I've been crafting crazy the last couple of days. I have a craft show Saturday. I'm doing cards, bookmarks, treat bags and hair accessories (I'm ScrappinSassy Designs over on FB). The hair accessories are made with felt, ribbon, beads and buttons and if I leave the hair clip off they can be used in scrapbooks and on cards.
So, if I'm not on as frequently as usual that's why. I should be back in the SCS groove by Monday.
Thanks so much for keeping the chatter going!
Good morning ladies, no news so far. Tomorrow is a Pro D day in Canada so that means...long weekend with the kids. I'm going to Michaels tonight for more paper. Sometimes you need a change. I need more colourful and fun paper. Melina good luck this weekend. Ladies, tonight I'll also go and visit blogs!!!.
