Standard rules for ATCs -- 3.5" by 2.5" quality cardstock, preferably two layers. No vendor requirements. Be sure to include your real name, SCS name, swap name, and any other info you would like to add on the back of your cards.
QUANTITY: 4 + 1 (the +1 is for me as hostess). You will not get one of your own back, so make an extra if you want to keep one.
DEADLINE: Due in hand: 2/15/2012
MAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Place swap items in a large baggie for waterproof purposes. Write your real name, SCS name and swap name on a piece of paper and include in the baggie for identification purposes. To insure that enough postage will cover the returned swap items, include additional postage, which will be returned if not used.

Hi terrie. I'm thinking maybe i would like to join this swap -- but, well, i have to confess I don't have a clue what an ATC really is. In my head i'm thinking - well, maybe like sports trading cards? only for your swap, its animals instead of sports players?

Welcome to the world of ATCs! From your signature I can see that you are no stranger to paper crafts or swaps. Well, ATCs work the same way.
ATC stands for Artist Trading Cards. These are small pieces of art the size of standard sports trading cards or playing cards -- 3.5" x 2.5". The dimensions can go in either direction.
When a theme is agreed upon -- Companion Animals here -- everyone makes a set of identical cards that fit the theme. Then I swap them out so that you get a variety of cards back.
You can see some examples in my gallery. Hope you decide to join us!
oh WOW - what a variety of themes in your gallery!!! ok - silly question. Are the ATC's something you .....'collect', or, do you use them on cards or on scrapbook pages?

Different answers for different people, I'm sure. Personally, I have a binder of beautiful cards but I've also used some to make cards, added backs to make gift tags and -- my favorite -- added magnetic backing to put them on my frig. My DD also has some for her frig that I gave as gifts.
When I make cards with them, I send them to friends or family. I would never make cards for a swap this way because that would be claiming someone else's art as my own.
You can do anything you want with them EXCEPT make money.
Wow - there is more to an ATC than a pretty face... I would really like to join your swap Terrie. If its okay with you, i'd like a spot in the dog category. and a spot in other critters also.
Thank you Terrie! I for sure am a dog lover, yep. no denying it!!! I grew up with persion cats in the house. Once i moved out, i became VERY allergic to them - but now and then i meet a cat i just can NOT leave alone. woe is me!!!!
Janet -- Hi!!!! How you doing? You've made ATC's? I'm excited - i've never made one. lol - i hardly even know what they are! lol
I grew up with dogs but when I became a working mom, we had to switch to cats. We tried a dog -- a wonderfully friendly mixed spitz -- but the dog couldn't train us to stay home. And I couldn't bring myself to cage her 10 hours a day.
So now we have four cats. The rule here is that the cats cannot outnumber the humans. I'm afraid of becoming the crazy cat lady! LOL
Yes, I've made ATCs before! I have an entire FAT notebook full of ATCs. And swaps I've been in (several years ago) had 9 +1 for the number we had to make.
Most of the cat stamps I have are too big to use on ATCs - if I find smaller stamp, I'll let you know!!
Oh yes - I've used some of the templates. There used to be another site that had over 100 templates - that site disappeared. I've checked more sites for templates for card ideas....
Ive only done one set of ATCs before so these are still new but I could not pass up the theme! I'd like a spot in the dog category please. I find it hard to believe that anyone loves their pups more than me
Hi Lori!!!!! Now you KNOW i love my two the mostest -- just look at who's my avitar!!! <G> the theme is what got me too.....what DOES that say about US????? lol

Welcome, Lori! Glad you are joining us. But, please, no dog fighting here!
