Here's a peek at what I've done so far. I'm half way through, but the ideas are slowing down.

Very nice start, Sybil!
I thought your use of modge podge was smart.
A little inchie tip...if you are using thin paper (such as a magazine) and using a punch, first glue the thinner paper to a piece of cardstock and THEN punch it out. It gives it stability and you are far less likely for the paper to tear.

These are great. You will probably wake up at 3:00 AM with ideas, that is what I do.

That's a great tip, Dena. I have done that with catalog pages and thin paper.
These book pages weren't so much thin, as they were fragile. The edges of the pages were actually crumbling, as you can see in this photo of an actual page. I just painted the pictures with the mod podge on the front, then on the back and let them dry. I stuck them to the background and then trimmed around the edges to fit. This is a wonderful little book, but in very bad condition. I just want to save as much as I can of it.

We are in the midst of a terrible line of thunderstorms and it is raining bullfrogs. Tornado watch the whole works. I'll be back later if we don't blow away................

Often the front of older books have a few blank pages...oh my, stamping on that paper can be like BUTTER!!
Glad to see you saved the book for artsy purposes!

So sad, the first real page that you can read the number is 37, and most of the back ones are gone too. Around the edges are various degrees of disentigration, I have no idea if that is spelled right, but they are completely wasted away. but the centers are prety much intact, and still have some wonderful bigger pictures. ATCs maybe? I plan to use every bit I can.

A wonderful art friend of mine(the fabulous Suji) gave me the most wonderful art gift....a reel of The New York Times microfilm from June of 1969. I have been dying to use these images...the images I used are from a Macy's Summer Sale. Pretty cool, huh?

Oooh, Dena... I got some too. But I really wish I could actually blow up the ads as they look so cool. There must be microfiche readers somewhere where I can get screengrabs...

Can my friend (Shelley) have a spot? She's an art teacher, but not on the board. We will mail our items together. You could just sign me up for a second spot, but they inchies would be her artwork.

I showed her these (we craft together often) and she wants to try them. She also incorporated them into her commercial arts class and has her students making a 1" inch piece of art. Thanks for the inspiration.

I don't know what zentangle is or the technique would be. I would be interrested in hearing about it.

I do I do, google it first of all and there are a few good starter sites out there. In my gallery, I think I have one of beaker from the muppets with a zentange behind him. It is fun, you need a really great pen though.

Several of these are popped up and frankly, look crooked. They are actually on there straight, it's the pic.

Zentangles are basically doodles with a thin back pin (usually a micro pen) Sometimes they are shapes, sometimes they incorporate a stamp into the design.

I have only done zentangles one time and am not sure they are done the right way. But if you want to look here they are.

Zentangle inchies by SybilMcC - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
and here are some made by parknslide, I don't think she would mind if I refer you to hers.
Inchie Zentangles by parknslide - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
Just go to "Gallery" and the to search, type in zentangles and you will find lots of them. They are just doodling but little bitty. I used a very fine tipped pen.
I am sure there are folks out there that know a LOT more than I do about these.

I just purchased the book "One Zentangle A Day" by Beckah Krahula. It's seems to be a very good book for beginners. It assumes you don't know a lot about tangling, and breaks it down into manageable bits that make it enjoyable to learn. I'm really glad I picked it up.

No one biting on this?? When I think of "recycled inchies " I think, pop can, a candy wrapper, etc. I have one from Suji (I believe) that she recycled a broken reed from one of her kids...very cool....

Welcome swappers! Hope your day is off to a good start. I woke up to it being a balmy 40 degrees on my downstairs level. Apparently the strong winds popped open my back door. It was freezing!!

That's kind of scarey. Or maybe I am thinking big city freak outs, where an open door might mean something more than just an open door. Glad it turned out okay.
