I would like to join your swap. Do I wait to see if I have been accepted or should I start making my inchies?

Golly this thread made me rofl... Glad you're all crafting with me. One good thing is that with SCS I've got room for all of you and my hoards of things I can't part with because I may need it sometime soon.
Sybil- I too will not buy a single thing just for inchies however....I am still amazed at the new things paper crafters and artists are coming up with. I feel their zest for life refreshing.

Paulette... your inchies are fab. Hope to receive one or two in the returns.
As for inspriation a while back Joyce had a great inchie swap and I was inspired to mount many of mine in this beautiful arrangement. ENJOY

I'm a little apprehensive since I've never done these, but I'd like to join. I had never heard of these until last week when I saw them on the web while searching for something else. One woman had framed her 100 inchies and they looked amazing. The amount is intimidating though.

The inchies are no problem. Look here in the inchie gallery and you will be amazed.
Inchies Gallery: Templates for Creating Inchies - Inkadinkadoo & More Stamps - Page - Splitcoaststampers
And don't us scare you off with our bantering back and to. That is as much fun as actually making and swapping the inchies.

Heart inchies

I do not have poster board. Can I cut up a shirt box for my inchies? I have looked at the gallery and some look like they are cut outs. I was wondering if I could cut out of the newspaper?

Feel free to cannibalize cereal boxes, cardboard backings from packaged designer paper etc.. Then make sure you cover the back and front with cardstock or stiffer paper such as 140lb cold press watercolour paper . You can do your magic on the front as it accepts inks and water colours markers etc well. I would invest in a one inch punch. You likely cannot use the punch for cardboard but cardstock as well as watercolour paper is fine.
You can use newspaper as a background or pages from an old book or magazine etc. And you'll need a good pair of fine tip scissors to cut out smaller images.

Of course it will be fun. Enjoy the process.

Whenever I participate in swaps, I usually put down a date, name of swap and also my name and scs name. It just helps when you are looking back and fonding your inchies and you know where they came from. Also, having the other information on there allows you to thank the maker as well as maybe answer some questions about the inchie.

So, an example of one would be:

Diane aka cameldiva
Dena's 100 inchie swap
April 2012

I would make a template in Word with miniscule font so all those words will fit and print it up on mailing labels.

Re your previous question about newspapers... newsprint is a cheap paper and not meant to be archival. It yellows and gets brittle. If you are using it for your background, don't forget to put some kind of protector over it to seal it after. So clear embossing powder, or crystal effects, or diamond glaze or microglaze . beware, though, products like versamark may seep through and cause the newsprint to become translucent and show the print from the back of the page.... unless of course, that was your whole intention in the first place.

I know I have a box of accessories and such still unpacked. Oh to find them one day. Lazy Sunday, doing laundery, dishes, reading, doing some purging of excess to go to Sally Ann, and crafting too.
Guess I need to think about supper soon. Have a good night everyone.

That's exactly what I have been doing tonight. I am finishing my recipe cards so I can start my inchies. I got them all ready to glue last night, and today I am just glueing and sticking and watching TV.

I have posted my first five inchie designs to my gallery. I have another set completed but I'll post it in the next group of five. I have so much else to do and all I want to do is play with inchies 30 down and 70 to go!

No you're not behind. We have only just started and you have two months to complete them. Don't judge yourself after our Diva Queens. They are our hardcore inchie queens and their fingers never stop creating. I have been in this group for a long time and I am never up to their standard of production.
It isn't a race and is definitely not a competition. But looking at their sneak peaks has taught me how to up my game and it will become second nature to you.

I agree with Norma, it sure isn't a race! Everyone works at different speeds. I would rather folks work careful and at their own pace and make art you are proud of!

"I have been in this group for a long time and I am never up to their standard of production."
Norma Norma Norma. Stop it. You do wonderful things. Don't let me have to come up there and whup you!

I started some inchies tonight. Have them ready for the embellishments but can't make up my mind what to do. I will sleep on it, and maybe tomorrow they will tell me what they want to be when they grow up.
It feels good to be back in the inchie mode again. LOVE THEM!

I'd love to have you come up here and hug me, Sybil. But no, you misunderstand that statement. I meant that I cannot whip them out like some of our lovely ladies. I take my time in my thought process before I can actually produce something. I marvel at how quickly they can come up with ideas. I get there but on a slower train. Do you see what I mean. LOL. Love you Sybil, you keep me in line.

Couldn't agree more. It took me two hours to make three inchies the other day. It's all about enjoying the art time and making cool stuff, not just cranking them out.

Good morning everyone. Funny old day out there today. The rain has eased up but it is still a little bleak looking. A few bright spots on the horizon, so there is hope that we will have a semi-nice day yet. Going to see my mum today. Since her hip break last spring she has slowly began the decline in body strength and her mental state. Conversations of any significance have declined to repeats several times over during our visits. Considering her 91 years, she has done very well and she tries so hard to keep things on a level keel. We just have to convince her that she has to give up walking as it is becoming more detrimental to her well being. She told me the other day, that she has to stop hitting her head when she falls because that can't be healthy. I had to laugh because her poor face has been many colours of the rainbow this past year. We have to shake our heads. Even the staff at the home have said she has the hardest head. But it is still a worry, none the less and I think it is beginning to sink in with herself as well. She is more nervous now and needs more reassurance in all things. But she is already making her plans for next Christmas. So she still has the will. She just needs to find the way. LOL

Here's what I was working on today...inchies with beeswax. (On of my go to techniques) I loved these images but they had those annoying little lines going through them from the printer so I busted out the wax to camouflage the printer's short comings.
