Well, we went car shopping which was a bust. Had the car we wanted but not in the price range we wanted. If hubby wud get off the one vehicle wanted list and look at others, I think we could find something. I need an easy entry vehicle and cargo area for my walker or mum's chair. But he is a Ford man and won't budge. Stubborn old coot!

Oh Paulette! That stuff sounds yummy. I might enjoy that, but it would send my blood sugar to the moon and back. It is a good thing I never learned to drink alcoholic stuff. I would be all over that RumChata. It sounds like it would be good over ice cream, oh my goodness I CAN'T HAVE IT!
You really got your money's worth at the stamp sale. I haven't seen the cherry blossoms die, gotta go shopping now.............

Norma, I drive a little red Ford Escape. It works well with Susan's walker and all the groceries I buy. It has been a good one so far. Susan can just plop over on the seat without squatting or climbing. She likes it too. I had to be forced to buy mine, I had been driving a Honda for 11 years and LOVED it. I am glad we traded now though.

Good morning

I have a Ford Freestyle which I absolutely love. I can fit the whole family into it for road trips, and I can put all my oddly shaped hardware/Goodwill purchases into it too. I will drive it until I wear it out.

I'm like that with cars - with me they last a good loooong time.

My Honda was still in perfect shape, and I would have kept it forever. Himself sold it to Grandson #1 and he totaled it within 3 months. We keep cars and trucks a long long time too. I don't like car payments.

Before we went to one vehicle, I had a Mercury Tracer. I had it for 14 years and sold it to my nephew, who blew it up after 8 months. He put it in a crusher and I was devestated. It was my baby. I shed a tear for my little "Raindrop". A nickname my dtr gave it because of its shape. We were looking at the Escape, but I can't manage getting in and out of the thing and we found it cramped for shoulder space for us.

We have the Ford Freestyle also and love it. It is actually bigger than our Explorer - easy to get into and holds my walker and wheelchair with room to spare!

The Escape is a little smaller SUV, that is why I like it. But it isn't for everybody. My sister hates to ride in it. I don't think I would want to go back to a smaller car. I can get stuff in and out of the back so easily. The only thing is it opens UP back there, and if I am not on completely level ground I have to jump up to pull the door back down. My #1 son thinks that is so funny. He is 6 ft 2 in.

I have almost got my December calendar put together. All the parts are sitting on my table ready to be attached. The bases are finished. Just working on the calendar part now.

I got all the stamping and embossing and cutting done and glued my calendars to a little piece to frame it. Looking good. Then nothing went together like I wanted it to, so I just neatly put things together and went to bed. I like all the components, but they don't like each other. Oh well, I'll look at them again today and fiigure out what is wrong. But I am TRYING, really.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
reminding us that things aren’t always as they seem!

While talking with his semi-deaf uncle one evening, the nephew noticed that his uncle's "hearing aid" was actually an earphone from a transistor radio. The wire had been cut and was sticking out of his shirt.

"How does that help your hearing?" asked the nephew.

"Don't help my hearing none," he replied. "Makes people talk louder."

Please let me know if I've missed anything important... I'm so far behind, having been MIA for a few days.

Hugs!!!

Good morning all. The day is starting out on a bright note, no rain, so we can be thankful for that. However, being fall, and being on the coast, acceptance is a better part of our winter motto. What will be, will be.
Going to work on my calendars again today. The week is free from appointments of any kind, so no excuses on my part to get them done.

September is done and on the gallery. It looks so simply done, but man what a workout. I can't believe how I struggled on this one, and still am not really happy with what I did.
Am I the only one who goes through this?
I hope to get these in the mail by the end of the week. Mercy.

Police in Miami Beach say a homeless man broke into a car, stole a credit card and then tried to use it to buy a beer - from the bartender the card belonged to.

The case was cracked when the 53-year-old man handed the card to the bartender who took his order. The bartender noticed that he had just been handed his own credit card.

The bartender called Miami Beach police. The man told them he found the credit card on the ground.

Good afternoon Joyce. I have finished my December cards with two more to do. And I am also trying to get my DH on his feet to go out car shopping. I think I may have got through to him that we can't afford the car he wants, but we could afford a new vehicle if he were to change his tune a little. Champagne tastes on a pension budget! Geesh!

I've been living with that kind of husband for 20 years now. I'm forever saying..."we can't afford that! What were/are you thinking?" I'm glad one of us understands the word "budget".

Well, we did it! Or better yet, he did it. We bought a 2013 Dodge van. BAsic model, with the exception that he wanted roof racks on it. We have a Ford Van and we really wanted something new and different, but they just weren't comfortable enough, so we chose the van again. But it is spanking new and we pick it up tomorrow. And we are not paying through the nose, even tho I don't like another car payment again. Last one for us, I would think.

Congratulations, Norma. I know you will enjoy your new wheels.
Himself always swears by Dodges. We have had several over the years and they have always been good. He drives a Dodge Dakota pickup truck now. My Ford is the first Ford we have had except in the 1970's, we had one. But it works for me.
When my youngest grandson was small he wanted to make a card for his "Pops" on the computer. He wanted to put a deer and a fish on it. He was looking through images and got really excited when he saw a sheep with curly horns, and he said "Look Nanny, is that a Dodge?" So the card had a deer and a fish and a Dodge (ram). Sweet memory.

Love your story Sybil. When I met my husband his brothers were around 15/16 and that summer they grew about a foot each. One is 6'5" and the other is about 6'3". The latter needing correct back surgery because he grew so fast. Somehow my husband took after his dad, and remained a respective 5'11". After the morning's excitement of picking up the new wheels, I hope to do some more on my calendar cards. I have March and July to do yet. Have a good day everyone.

Do you circle days on your calendar to help you remember things? What sorts of things to remember do you put on your calendars?

Good morning Joyce. We have one of those mother reminder calendars that you put on your fridge with the big square boxes. Since DH's heart surgery, there seems to be something in almost every square each month. It looks impressive, until you get up close and personal, and see that they contain appointments. It seems that picking up the grd-dtrs from school is about as exciting as it gets these days. Time to fill those boxes with fun things, I think. On the topic of calendars, I finished my July one and have one more to do for March. Have to go out and get printer ink first though. Won't be long until I can mail them out.

Sybil commented on my July ATC, regarding our national holidays. On July 1 1867, Canada became a country and it is celebrated as the anniversary on that date each year, just like in 1776 the USA signed their declaration of independence from England and became their own country. In turn they celebrate on July 4th. Each of us has parties, fireworks and special events in every town and city in our countries. That is
the similarity of our July festivities.

That is so cool, Norma! I saw that your calendar page was done in red, white, and blue. Are those the traditional colors for Canada as well? Your calendar page is BEAUTIFUL by the way.
I have a big magnetic calendar on my fridge, and there are little stickers that came with it for reminders. Like a dog getting combed for groomer day and a party hat or birthday cake for a celebration. Teeth for dental appointments and like that. We have lots of hearts and stethescopes and stuff for doctor days too. And vet stickers and..........that's about it. We live a very dull life.

We are red and white only. We only turn blue in the winter time. LOL.
That's the same type of calendar I have too. And guess what? Look at it another way, we don't live dull lives - 3/4 of the country have the same calendars. So, therefore, we are just normal.

When I was looking for things to use on the PAT swap, and looked up "you know when you're gettin old when...."
there was one that said "when 99% of the names in your little black book have M.D. behind them."
Well, that's about it.

Hi all, Stopped by to see if my calendars arrived at joyce's. I've been super busy lately, miss chatting up the threads with you all.

Sybill back a few days ago you mentioned that you work on something and work on it and sometimes it still just isn't pleasing... I can relate to that. Sometimes I envisionsomething and just can't get my tools to make it like I'd like. For example a friend's DIL and DS had their first granddaughter premie. She's doing better, still in the hospital but I though crocheting her a pair of booties would be nice, so I did. I followed the pattern but one came out slightly larger than the other... Can't decide if I'll make another or just leave it be.

Joyce, I used to use a dayrunner planner... loved writing dates and appointments down in it. When I was a substitute teacher from 2008-2011 I switched calendars each year but now I use my iphone. It's not the same but it can beep and remind me of things so I can just go about my day without that feeling like... Jeez I hope I don't forget...

Anyhow, I gotta get working on my next swap.

Marilyn, I am just laughing about the booties. Not AT you, but at the situation.
My Threads of Love group makes little preemie hats and booties and mittens all the time. We knit and crochet them.
One of my friends and I were sharing tales of woe about how hard it is to make them match in size, and we decided to just make a big bunch of them, and then go through and put together the ones that were closest in size. We always say it doesn't matter how big or small they are when we are sending them to the NICU. Whatever size they are they will probably have a baby to fit them.
My best wishes go to the family with the little one. It amazes me how well they do most of the time.

Good Morning Friends!

I'm back... and oh-so-far-behind!
I don't have time to read and catch up this morning,
so if I missed something important, please let me know! THANKS!!!

... ... ... ...

Today is National Color Day,
National Nut Day,
National Knee Day,
Parachute Birthday,
International Stuttering Awareness Day,
Used Car Dealership Day,
and Clean Up the Earth Day.

Enjoy your holiday of choice today!

Please excuse the interruption, but here’s a
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
reminding us that Parenting isn’t for the faint of heart!

A young man had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your bible a little, and get your hair cut, then we will talk about it."

A month later the young man came back and again asked his father if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said, "Son, I'm real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your bible diligently, but you didn't get a hair cut!"

The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know dad, I've been thinking about that. You know Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair."

His father replied, "Yes son, and they walked everywhere they went!"
