Well, that's good - the bad weather sounds like it skipped you this time

After midnight tonight, we are supposed to have a strong front coming through - they said possibility of isolated tornados - BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES, Joyce (she doesn't live all that far from me).

All said, for us this has been a delightful winter - yes delightful (warm). And it's almost February already - YAY!!!!!

I did not need to have that happen (as she opens up another tab to check the radar....)

All in all, it has been a really mild winter for us. Which will probably make for a really scary spring!

Oooh Ooooh me me, I watch and tape Once Upon a Time. When I found out the writers of Lost were behind the series I couldn't resist. We are really enjoying it. Haven't heard of the other show though.

Is she just the best evil queen or what? And how about Mr. Gold? Sister & I are glued to the TV for the whole show, and then we have to call each other....immediately! LOL

Downton Abbey is a PBS period piece with the Fabulous Maggie Smith as the family matriarch. I just love her work. And I love period dramas too, so it's a double treat for me. I caught the first season on Netflix, and now I tune in for the second season episodes in real time.

I adore Downton Abbey---the setting, the costumes and all the stories lines. When I was in London last Spring, our tour guide was telling us that they are trying to get Julian Fellowes to write a third series. It just won a Golden Globe for best miniseries drama.

We have an entire gallery devoted to Inchies - here is the link.

Inchies Gallery: Templates for Creating Inchies - Inkadinkadoo & More Stamps - Page - Splitcoaststampers

Inchies are a 1x1 piece of delightful artwork that can be used alone or in groups for cards, magnets, wallart and more. If you look thru the gallery, you will lots of examples of what we do with our Inchies after we trade them. They are also lots of fun to just have in a dish as conversation starters.

OH Paulette, that is the very best! I remember your doing that now and I just drooled over it.

I will have to watch that program on my computer and see what it is about. I don't watch much TV. I had planned to watch Castle last night and forgot.

I think the whimsical things she does are what attracted me to her blog. I thought the name was cute too.
I started my SDA ATCs today, and was having ever so much fun. Himself said "what on earth are you doing?" I showed him the itty bitty valentines I was making and he just shook his head. He may be planning to have me put away. But for now...................

I finished one and have all the parts cut and punched, hopefully can get them done and start some of my SCS swaps. I think the creative juices have begun to flow a little bit again. I have really been in an inactive mood in lots of ways lately.

Wait till you get them in person. Most of them don't photograph as well as they could, all the good details don't show up until you have them in person.

As for the lost marbles.....several of us around here seem to have that same issue. You are now in good company.

When I go to make gravy and strain it, I forget to put a bowl or pot underneath and the gravy all goes down the drain.

Ask at your local WalMart if they can get it for you. We get it here at WalMart and Kroger. If you can't get it let me know and I will get some to you.
It's good stuff.

A one hand stick blender takes the lumps out of gravy with no straining necessary. I finally bought myself one and it's become one of my favorite kitchen tools.

Hmmm. I don't make gravy often, but don't really care if it is lumpy. What kind of gravy are you making? With drippings from fried chicken or something? Because that is thick anyhow, lumps don't really show up in my chicken gravy. I just stir in flour and let it cook a while, then a little milk and water and let it get good and thick. Sort of Paula Deenish.

I have one of those hand held stick blenders too, Joyce, an it is great for pureeing soups and stuff. I use mine a lot! Never thought to use it in gravy, mine is made in a frying pan and it wouldn't work there.

Around here, fried chicken or pork chop gravy is made with flour, drippings & milk. We don't care if it's lumpy, because it's normally the tasty crunchy bits that are the lumps. Beef gravy from pot roasts & such are the ones I usually hit with the blender, just to make them smoother.

The only gravy I make is turkey gravy and by the time I attempt to lift the old bird out of the roaster half is left behind and hence I have lumps. I also use onions etc so it is a big sloppy mess. Before I bring everything to the "gravy" stage I strain the sloppy mess and then start from there....
One thing no one seems to make up here in Canada is fried chicken. I wonder why that is? Do you need a deep fryer for that?
