She may or may not actually feel like making the cards when you're there - depending on how much Percocet she's taken - but she'll surely appreciate your company and thoughtfulness. I went through a mastectomy a couple of years ago, and was blown away by all the kindness that came my way.

Although this card was for someone else, I've also been the recipient of some of Paulette's wonderful boob humor - and it has truly brightened my days. Laughing about the whole thing was one of the best ways to cope, for me anyway.

I am sure she will be happy for the company, but if u really want to do something for her, when I had a masectomy 8 yrs ago, not being allowed to shower or raise my hands over my head, my neighbor came over and washed my hair in the kitchen sink and styled it for me and I felt so much better.

You ladies are the best! She has a ton of friends and family helping out. She lost her hair a few months ago but I bet a foot and hand massage would make her happy. I am an OT (so is she) and we like to give people purposeful activities to speed recovery. She was trying to be off of the pain meds (at least the prescription drugs) as of yesterday. She is young (31 next month) so I expect she will recover, physically at least, fairly quick.

Oh my! Martina McBride has a great song out right now about this. It's from the husband's perspective as he says he will love her through it. With good friends like you, your friend will definitely be "loved through it."

There is nothing weird about your idea. Having a fun goal to share with a friend will be good for her, and you too. I will keep her in my prayers.

Good morning all

Aren't you all just the most helpful bunch? That's the thing I like the best. I think the "hair washing" is a great idea - I know it would probably make me feel better if I were facing that situation. Keep us posted on her progress.

I visited with my friend Susan today. She didn't feel up to talking so I just came home. That is the way it is with a real true friend. You can say " I don't feel like ........" and no feelings get hurt. I will go back when she is ready to talk and be awake, but for now.........I just do my thing and keep up with my responsibilities, and when she wants to do something there it is. It's all good.

Good morning

We are safe & sound here in the middle of nowhere. But we did have a doozy of a thunderstorm last night. I got up to enjoy the show (translation...check the radar) and then went back to bed. We had another round come thru just now so I'm up a doing the same thing again. We may have another round in a bit, then things should calm down. No damage here that I can see from the window....I haven't gone outside yet. Western KY got most of the really nasty stuff. Thanks for checking on me though - hope your feeling better.

Awww, just read that Davy Jones of the Monkees died of a heart attack today. That's a little piece of my past floating away. ~sigh~

OK, I took a moment...but I'm back. I have my inchies finished and will post them tomorrow. I'll take some pics later today.

Oh, I know who he is now. I had to google him. I was before his time. I remember some of the songs but wasn't exactly a fan. He was young, what, 66?

Good morning all

Question of the day, in honor of our recently fallen Monkee....Who was your teenage heart throb?

I didn't really have a "heart throb" but Elvis was just getting going when I was a teenager. My best friend had a real thing for him, and we went to see him in person in Atlanta before he got really to be really well known. Maybe paid 50 cents to get in. He was "country" when we saw him, and it went from there.
I am really telling my age here, right?

ugh, Joyce..! You and Janice are the worst enablers... I'm so tempted to start swapping again after my hiatus..ya know, buying a house, holiday stuff, death in the family, a miscarriage.. the usual life events getting in the way... (haha... and yes, I can now FINALLY make a little quip about it all!)

I've been stuck in mini album/larger project land... and I MISS these swaps.. especially since I have my own little crafting haven -- I'm working out a way to display ALL of my ATC's, Twinchies, Inchies and Chunks.. love all of them..

what to do... what to do...

I was a Paul McCartney fan, Davy Jones when I was really young, Gordon Lightfoot...he's probably a big ? for most of you because he's Canadian and on the plus side of young. I liked David Soul, too. he started out on Here Come the Brides and graduated to Starsky and Hutch. It's fun to remember waaaay back in the day.
As far as procrstnation's question...jump in while you're deciding...LOL

Eeeek - Here Come the Brides - I loved that show. This summer I was at an antique flea market and spied a scrapbook of photos and clippings some obsessed fan had made of Bobby Sherman. The vendor said it was the last show of the year and he didn't feel like storing the scrapbook and told me to Take It - for free! How cool was that!

And although I loved Davy, when I was a kid Peter was the Monkee who stole my heart.

Jen...I'm sure Donny was too overcome with grief to write you back at the time. He was such a nice boy that I'm sure he wanted to tell you how much your letter meant to him.

I was a Monkees fan and Peter Noonan (or was it Noone) of Herman Hermits; the Beatles, of course.

Since I just getting caught up on the thread, I wanted to say one of my friends at work had a double mastectomy two weeks ago. She has always been a health nut and we are getting her a "basket" of things: chocolate, McDonald's gift certificates, a pink wig, and lots of other misc things.

Parknslide - I loved your card. My friend would appreciate something like that as well so I'm now thinking....

I have one set done, the zentangles are cut out and I just need to get them mounted, and then on to the last set. I plan to finish this weekend.

Take care everyone.

I' definitely under-crafted...I have to install a new hard drive in my work computer and I'm sitting her copying files to my external drive and all I want to do is get to my crafting desk.

As soon as I finish the zentangles, I'll post pics.

Good morning

Yeah, that was no fun yesterday. Way to many storm clouds running over my house for my comfort level. Fortunately, no damage to report, though a couple of times it looked pretty nasty. The lower half of my county took a pretty good beating. We know people with some serious cleanup ahead of them.

I'm glad you are safe Sybil. You were on my mind as I watched the storms path last night too. Funny thing about it - it wasn't a rain event here. I have had many storms here that have brought lots more rain. I was surprised by that, and relieved.

I'm glad you are OK. We just had lots and lots of water around us. No damage. Most of the storms were north of us. I hope all our other swapping buddies are OK. That was really rough, wasn't it? March comes in like a lion.

Last night I had a shower for a friend (baby/shower but she is the grandma) and the whole lot of them ended up in my family room where all of my framed inchies are. They went nuts! A lot of these ladies I know through crafting so I was a bit surprised the concept was so new to them. So thank you to all and to everyone who has ever sent me an inchie or a twinchie, you are all famous up here in Canada.
