The Victorian era was never like this! I like to think of this genre as kind of an altered historical era. If we can alter physical stuff, why not alter history, or at least artistic representations of history? This is an art style that is very popular right now, and lots of fun to create. If you are unfamiliar with the style or just want more information, here are a few websites to check out:
OR you can just put “steampunk” into your search box and peruse the sites that pop up. I can spend hours just checking out the various sites!

Thank you for enabling me to have an excuse to buy steampunk stamps!!!! I think I HAVE to join this swap, if you'll have me, because I've loved steampunk ever since I first saw the word. Kathy
I am so dorky... LOL. I got in my new Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante paper and 7 Gypsies Steampunk stamps last week from Scrapbooking Supplies, Ideas and Education - Two Peas in a Bucket. It was so exciting that I finished these ATCs Don't you just love new paper and stamps? This was a super fun project.
Kathy, your card is wonderful! i love the 7Gypsies stamp on the face - seems very steampunk to me. I'm still trying to get this genre straight in my mind; I just know I love it when I see it. I'm going to use my last initial when I sign so we don't get confused (I'm a China mom, too, but not a new one). Kathy F.

Hi, ladies. A note on shopping for steampunk stuff:
Archivers carries Graphics 45 stuff, 7 Gypsies and another brand I never heard of but seems to go along the Tim Holtz line of stuff. I know not everyone lives near an Archivers. However, if you put "steampunk art supplies" into your search box, you will get lots of useful hits and suppliers.
I gotta say, the more I learn about this style the more I like it! It really allows the goofball inside to peek out.
Ok, I'm in! I made a prototype a couple mornings ago (bounded out of bed after waking up and laying there thinking about it). My challenge to myself was to use as many stamps/supplies as I already have on hand. It certainly was enough to fill my ATC space.
This is such a cool genre! The first thing I thought about when doing some of the reading/research was the Jim Carrey movie, A Series of Unfortunate Events.

We have an Archivers here and they had a very few things but not exactly what I was looking for so I ordered them online. Now I just have to wait for the goodies to come in!
