Gummy bears are not nice! They get stuck in my teeth! Argggggg. I love the pink tractor and I think Norma's is adorable. I really must ask Paulette how to do an avatar cuz I don't know how. Hey ladies, I just learned how to do clip art and print it out. I am not computer savvy but I'll get there! I have been "collection" for nine years and the last year I have actually been producing!

I can't wait to see the avatar the two of you come up with for your signature "look"! That will be soooo much fun.

We are going to a used stamp sale in Neenah (about an hour and a half north of Madison) early Saturday morning on what is predicted to be a stormy day cuz of the weather. They hold it twice a year and who can pass that up! We will discuss this on the way. I don't even know how to put pictures in my gallery so will have to find out from Paulette how to do that as well.

Yay, I think I have finally found "me". Ahh, thanks Jen - am I adorable? LOL. When I saw those pink glasses, it was me. My last pair of glasses were pink.

I have to say, I am too old for this. Dtr. asked if we could take grd-dtr to school today and tomorrow. Both mum and dad have super early mornings ahead. I was awake every hour on the hour to see if the alarm had gone off. I haven't used one of those for ten years. I am so tired. At least she is old enough to ride and drop at school.

I hate having to use the alarm clock. Thank goodness DS is old enough to get himself up & going in the wee hours. That's sooo not me anymore. I often wake up early on my own, but when I have the clock set it seems like that's the night I fall asleep late, sleep badly and then spend the day bleery eyed because of the lack of sleep from anticipating the alarm clock's ring.

I retired a year and a half ago and find it very rewarding to be able to sleep until 8:00am. Wouldn't get up then except I would never get going. I get up, get some tea, watch a little news and usually start waking up about 9:30 so I know how you feel Norma. I will tell you all, however that if Paulette and I are going anywhere and doing anything I don't seem to have a problem getting up early! Saturday will be up by 6:00am! Sandi

You are quite right Joyce. Anticipation is a sleep killer, as I walk around with my eyes dangling on my chin. zzzzzzzzz....

Well, if I had the opportunity to shop with Paulette, I just might use my alarm to be up at 6 am too. LOL. Have fun Sandi.

I have several activities that cause me to set the alarm. But I don't get up before 7:00 AM unless it is for something drastic. I thought I was the only one who watched the clock all night when I knew it was supposed to wake me up the next morning.
I have to keep my alarm clock in the bathroom. If I have it close to me I bop it on the top and go back to sleep and miss what I was going to do. That way I have to get up to go in the bathroom to turn off the alarm. And while I am there I go ahead and do what you usually go in there for, and by that time I am awake. Sort of. At least I am vertical.

I wouldn't need an alarm clock to shop with Paulette - the anticipations would keep me up all night anyway!

I would have my makeup on, be fully dressed and snooze in my lazyboy chair. Just need to brush my teeth and put my lipstick on and I would be ready to go. LOL.
I sometimes fall asleep in my chair and wake about 3 am and wonder if I ever made it to my bed.

Well, the Shopping Goddess" and I don't shop much anymore for clothes and that stuff. They closed all our favorite Liquidators, Big Lots, etc so we mainly to to garage sales and used stamp things like Neenah. Then in May it's off to Sayner for the weekend. There is also a place in Mauston (about an hour away) that we stop in to check out when we are in the area. Paulette is the one who got me started in this HABIT and she has told me on many occasions to stop collecting and get busy. We go to Milwaukee to see Hedy quite often and between Hedy and the Shopping Goddess" my mouth falls open and I wonder what I am doing in the talented twosome. They have approved though of what I have done so that helps!

Thought I needed to make a doctor's appointment---my ears have been ringing all day. Then I come here and find out that the IFFs are talking about me. Sandi's correct: I'm a late riser unless there's a stamp sale or HOT DEAL somewhere. I used to work the 3:30-Midnight shift and sleep in my clothes so I could be 1st in line for the Black Friday sales. They used to start at 4AM but last year they started already at midnight. It's so much fun standing in line and comparing notes with the other crazy bargain shoppers.

Black Friday, purple Thursday, or pink with polka dots Wednesday - I won't be standing in any lines. I can hardly stand at the sink to wash my dishes. But I do remember Woodwards Tuesdays up here in Vancouver. You could double or triple the goods for the price of one. Got all my baby's undies and diapers (yes real diapers) at cost savings.
Hubbies socks and unmentionables as well as ladies wear were all packaged in triplicate. I think those were the last lineups I was ever in. Except for Boxing Day specials.

I just woke up but the jingle just entered my head:
"$1.49 Tuesday - $1.49 day Woodwards" - Many memories too. Good merchandise, great frosted malts, cheap lunches, specialty foods section, and parking on the roof. Now that was a novelty in those days. It's all gone now.

So do I Joyce. It was your one stop shopping store. The family sold it out years ago. In fact they had a cattle ranch up in the Okanagan as well. We used to camp on the land by the lake and sometimes the cattle would come down to drink. You stayed close to camp when that happened and waited for them to leave. Open range cattle were not to be trusted.

We used to have a five and dime downtown when I was very young. I remember they had really cool toys and candy that were in tall cases. I could just see the stuff at eye level. I remember eating hamburgers and fries in the grill area off to one side. That was a cool special treat back then.

It would be a cool special treat to have that back again today. It would be the kind of place where I would frequently shop.

Well, our record breaking 86 days of sunshine is officially over and although we have been in Fall for two weeks, it has finally descended upon us. Rain expected for at least the next five days. We can't complain after this phenominal summer. Ah what memories.
What a good excuse now to stay in and craft. So there are benefits to it all.

You aren't going to believe this but it is true. My maternal grandmother at one time DATED Norman Rockwell and her sister dated his brother. They both married other men though. Also, my mother grew up in the Washington DC area (where I was born) and she and her friends would go to jam sessions on Saturday night and dance to the live bands----Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, all the big bands. Then Mom and her friends would leave there and go to 6:00 am Mass. I grew up on this music and still love it!

Good morning

I just want you to know that ya'll have worn my poor, ole' mailbox completely out. The door fell off last week!

Guess who used her new woodworking skills to repair and replace that mailbox? Yep - sure did! I have a brand new, shiny black, jumbo mailbox on my mailbox post. And other than using the resident boy scout to hold it in place and hand me tools - I did it all by myself. Yay me!

The mailbox post was hit last winter during an ice event and I had it "sorta" repaired it at the time - enough to get the mail, anyway. Now it's new hardware, new box and shiny new numbers. We're not going to have any stray packages from this end of a swap, no sir!

I wonder what I can get into for the rest of my day...

At the rate you are getting and sending mail you should ask the USPS to just put one of those great big old drop boxes there for you to use, like the ones they put on corners and in shoppping areas. That would help you a bunch.

Sister made that same comment to me as we were standing at Lowes looking at mailboxes. I actually bought the wrong one and had to go back a second time to get the right one. They look different in the store.

I bought the middle sized one, thinking it was the one I had on my post currently. Nope, I have the jumbo sized one. I had to go back with the toooo small one and get the giant economy sized one. Sister still thinks it's too small.
