I got Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble gift cards, soooofffffftttt slippers that feel so good on my sore foot, a picture frame with little bones all around the mat that says "My best friend" (guess who's picture is in it) and some other girly stuff. I got a Vera Wang "Smart phone" holder, (but I only have a little stupid phone, but it fits OK). It is so nice to have a girl in the family. For all those years I got staple removers and can openers and stuff from my boys, but when Stefanie joined our family it really made a difference. We had so much fun yesterday.

It is 37 degrees and windy here. This is the first time we have put a sweater on Charlie, and he seemed to like it. Rosie is in pink, Ruby is in red, and Charlie in Manly Blue.
Ruby has a hard time finding a sweater to fit. If it fits around her chest, it is too long and big in the back looks like a skirt. So funny.

I am sitting here sewing new polar fleece sweater for my three dogs, and using my new embroidery machine to embroider dogs and their names on them. I will post pics when done.
I am looking forward to seeing that. I tried making some fleece ones once and..........it didn't work. Probably had the wrong pattern.
It would be good if I could make Ruby one that would fit her. She is shaped like a doxie, big in the chest and teensy in the back. The only thing she has that fits is a sweat shirt that has ribbing aroun the bottom, and it is just not warm. She is our only short hair dog and she is cold natured.

We brought mum home for Christmas Day and my sisters and hubbies were here as well.
It was a bit overwhelming for mum at times, but she did enjoy it, she told us all. But the sad part of the day was after midnight when we all decided it was bedtime. My Brother-I-L took a header down the stairs from the second floor to the main and ended up in hospital with 3 badly broken ribs, a possible lung puncture and it appears he may be facing surgery to stabilize the ribs. He is keeping his humour, although terrified as this is the first hospital stay of his life, so we are keeping lighthearted for his sake to keep him calm. So we are at sixes and sevens and every hour taken at one at a time.
Oh Norma! I am soooo sorry to hear that. It is always bad for something to happen but during Christmas..........well that is just not right! I hope things go well with him.

Thank you Sybil. It appears he did indeed puncture the lung. They are hoping it will heal itself, so the next few days will tell. We wait for their decision on surgery for the ribs, but I think it is a foregone conclusion that the surgery will happen in the next few days. Poor guy. But his family has rallied around him, so that is good to see too. To some extent they are estranged, but come bad times they are still there.

Ouch! Norma, I'm sorry to hear that - what a Christmas story! Does he live local, or was he in from out of town on top of that? Keep us posted on his progress please.

I had a extra special fun day today - contrapat is delightful in person We had lunch together and talked and talked and talked. We have lots of things in common and it was lots of fun to have a face to put with her name now. She took pictures (I left my camera on the kitchen table!) and I will post one when she sends me the picture files.

It's always fun to meet our SCS friends. Glad you were able to meet her too.
To answer your question Joyce, yes my sister is from out of town. About 200 miles away and a four hour drive. So there are lots of unanswered questions here. But June can stay with us until we sort out the hospital thing and when he is released in time.
They have no hospital in the vicinity, so the one down here isn't too ready to have him leave until they know he is on the mend and his lung is working properly. It's nice to live in the Cariboo and a small town, but the essentials are not so readily available.

Oh my, that makes it worse, doesn't it? Just the logistics of being so far from home and all the uncertainty....I will keep them in my thoughts and send warm hugs in your direction.

The hugs would be wonderful. I am so exhausted from the mental and physical strain and of course being there for my sister. Tomorrow is a shopping day, as I wasn't prepared for a "guest" so a few more tidbits need to be added to the pantry and fridge.
I find that hospitals have a way of wearing me down, especially those long hallways.
Oh well, I guess I will survive. My bed is calling my name. Good night.
Joyce, if your crown has already been made you will have an easy visit today. The prep is the hard part. Take a picture and show us your new gem.
Norma, hang in there, and keep us up to date on how you and your family are doing. Wish I could be there to help you.

Hi ladies! Loooooong time no see. I hope this holiday season is treating everyone well. I got some over-the-ear headphones (finally!), a couple of power tools, and some perfume and bath things. (Gotta clean after I play with my tools! lol). The headphones are long overdue. I can't wear those little ones that are all the rage now. My ear canals are eensy weensy and those little buds fall right out. So, now I can listen to music, YT vids, and whatever I want while DD practices her recorder and violin (yikes). One day there will be sweet music coming from those things, but right now, she's making everyone's ears bleed.
*whispers* I can't wait for the holidays to be over. I'm so drained and having to work during the holidays is a drag. Tomorrow is DD's 10th b-day and I still haven't recovered from mall shopping from before Christmas. The places she wants to go are all in the mall...go figure.
I'll be back to my old sporadic and not post once every blue moon, self once she heads back to school next week.
Miss you all and looking forward to catching up on what I've missed!

And what kind of power tools did you get? It was "tool'time" Christmas around my house too!

My first visit was easier than today. When I went before, they put me to sleep. Today I wasn't so lucky. I was in the chair for 2 1/2 hours. I'm one of those lucky people who is VERY hard to numb/sedate. They found that out today. Three shots of Novocaine and my toung is numb, my lips are numb and my tooth still feels everything. I felt very sorry for the little chick who was working on me. She kept apologizing for hurting me. I had 2 Valium before they started and nitrous oxide while they were working on me. It didn't help much. I'm still trying to figure out why they call it laughing gas. I certainly wasn't laughing.
Meanwhile, my sister is out in the EXTREMELY comfy lounge area. (She was my driver today) She was comfy enough to take a nap while she waited. What's wrong with this picture?
I'm glad that's over with - no more visits for 6 months. Yay!

Hello peeps! You can call off the search dogs...I have resurfaced after a lengthy absence. Lots has been happening and I haven't been in a chatty frame of mind. However, I have been working like a little fiend to get my PATs done. I'm hoping tomorrow will finish them up and they will be postal Monday. I've missed you folks.

Hi Bonnie, hope your Christmas was fun....
Joyce I had a crown and insisted they knock me out. Two and a half hours? You poor dear. I have to go back this year for crown number two and again I'll be put in la la land. Remember you will feel your tooth for a while it takes time before it loses it's sensitivity I found. It kind of ached. Now it is fine.
Take care everyone. Speaking of crowns, I bought myself Ken Follet's dvd World without End and watched all 8 episodes this weekend. So fun. (I'm a prude though and wished they hadn't added the bad language)

Good morning
It's snowy here and cold. A perfect day to stay in and nap, or craft or just be lazy.
My hubby want to go out and "do something". Dinner or a movie or both. Hmmmm...still undecided here about that. Maybe after a second cup of coffee.....
Joyce, glad for you that your coronation is over and done with ! Sorry that it was less than a regal experience
Today I am putting the finishing touches (embellishments) on my cards for the 'triple stamping' category and then they are completed. I even got to use my air compressor for this category - woohoo - that was way too much fun...
I have made the papers for my monoprints category and currently they're 8-1/2" x 11" so now I just have to figure out what to make with them (the easy part......NOT...haha).
Stay warm and safe all and have fun tonight, Joyce, be it dinner or movies or both.

I'm thinking it's probably going to be dinner. I've had a serious "hungry" for crab legs that needs to be addressed. Since DS is camping this weekend we'll probably go for seafood. Yum!
My daughter got pre-engaged for Christmas (back in my day we just got engaged but I guess times are different) so we are having the prospective inlaws over for dinner today. So no time for crafting for me today.

How does that work exactly? Pre-engaged? Is thst anything like getting a promise ring, or going steady? (yeah, that how we used to do it....I still have a promise ring from back in the day.)
You had better come back - don't make us come looking for you.
And what kind of power tools did you get? It was "tool'time" Christmas around my house too!
I survived the mall yesterday, whew! I even tried to enjoy myself by sneaking into Williams-Sonoma (by sneaking, I mean power-walking ahead and trying to steal a few minutes to myself and see what deals they had). Apparently, DD inherited my power waling skills because she was hot on my heels and as soon as I got into the store, I heard her say, "This is the worst store in the world." Yikes, time to go. She was quite the birthday brat yesterday.
I got a Rigid JobMax Multi-tool and a Jigsaw attachment. I cannot wait to play with them! I have to put away all of the Christmas decorations and stuff first though...so no building for a couple of weeks
What tools did you guys get? The ping pong table sounds like such fun!
Sybil, I love the stocking tradition! That is such fun! Making big stockings has been on my Christmas craft list for so long and I just haven't gotten to it before Christmas, and afterwards I'm all Christmas'd out. lol. I did stuff our stockings with funny things a few years back and "the dude" was so surprised to get soap, deodorant, hot sauce and 80's candy. I was scrambling at the last minute as stocking stuffers tend to never make it to my lists! My DD got a stocking FULL of candy and a toothbrush that year. She was too young to understand the irony, so I think I may try that one again next year!

I have one of those - without the jigsaw attachment. It's in MY tool warehouse. DH has to ask permission to use it. (We deal with tools differently. I know where mine are with all their attachments. Him, not so much...)
I got a center finder, chisels, a woodworker's color wheel (Yippee!!!) and a hone for sharpening my tools. DS got a new Ryobi multi tool for model making and several hand tools that had been on his wish list. DH got a screw re-threader and several things on his "wish list". We added some of that cushy floor matting for all of us to enjoy in the garage - Dad was happy about that one.
We all love our tools and kitchen gadgets. Dad and I are going to make a cutting board for my new mezaluna knife. I would cheerfully go to William-Sonoma with you. I think it's a very fine store
Oh my! Your garage sounds like a woodworker's dream! I know what you mean about having separate tools! I'm the handy one in this relationship, so I get the good stuff. "The dude" got a set of B&D stuff a few years ago and it's off collecting dust somewhere. I use the bits, chisels, and such that came with it, but the tools just weren't powerful enough for me, so I got new (and better ones!) Not to mention the huge and awkward battery packs. I really want a compound mitre saw and a billion other tools.
You've got me motivated to fix up our garage and get to building! I've been wanting to build a bed for the longest time. That will be my largest project to date and right now, there just isn't enough space in the garage for it.
Don't get me started on kitchen gadgets! Cooking/baking are my other things and I've run out of counter (and under counter) space for all of our gadgets and appliances. This year I got a rather basic, but much needed "gadget." Just a plain old toaster! LOL. I haven't ever had a regular toaster and using a toaster oven or the real oven was getting to be a huge hassle for those "quick serve" aka pop-tart breakfasts! They don't get the edges of the pop-tarts just crispy like I like 'em either.
Yay! A Williams-Sonoma browsing/shopping partner that wont just make rounds about the store and eat the samples (ahem "the dude")

I just did a mapquest.....I might have to plan a trip to Georgia this summer. You and Sybil are about 50 miles from one another. That sounds like a lunch date to me.
Guess what I did tonight? I made one ATC. So I have at least started. I have been soooo busy, and in the rush have been putting things in my sewing/craft room, and now I can't find anything. I have to get things straight before I can do a whole lot, but am getting in the creating mood.
My daddy was born up around Suwannee but I have never been there. I will have to check that out too. We might be semi-sort of neighbors!

I decided to take a break from my cursing and virtually throwing things to let you know that my PAT 24s are postal I have uploaded two of the three groups to my gallery. The last group I have written twice, tried to upload twice, and lost twice. Hence, the swearing and tantrums. I will try again later!
Anybody have any spare chocolate?

Bonnie, I feel your pain. Sending virtual chocolate your way---my drug of choice is Lindor Truffles (red bag). The upside is the virtual chocolates have no calories. Uploading to the SCS Gallery is often a frustrating experience. I'm off to the gallery now to see your creations and leave you some love.

Thanks for the love...and the chocolate, Paulette. When I upload the last 4, I will do it one at a time so that the most I lose is only one. I can handle that
