Shelli Gardner (founder of SU) let demos know this morning that her mother passed away last night due to liver disease. Shelli and her siblings were there with her when she passed. It was very sudden.
If you would like to send a condolence card to Shelli here's the info:
Shelli Gardner
P.O. Box 550
Riverton, UT 84065
Here is her message:
"It is with great emotion that I write to you, and I hope you will forgive me for the personal nature of this message, but I wanted you to hear this news from me. Last night (Sunday, December 16), my Mom Heather died peacefully in the Kanab Hospital as a result of a liver disease. She has had this disease for years, but it had been dormant until the last few months. Last Sunday, she went to the hospital in severe pain, and on Friday, she started Hospice care. Even so, we weren't expecting her to go so quickly.
My two sisters and my brother and I gathered in Kanab on Saturday to spend some time with her. I was surprised at how quickly she had deteriorated, and we knew her death was imminent at that point. She entered the hospital late last night, and my sisters and I, along with her husband, Paul, were by her side when she died.
While this is an extremely difficult time for me, I am so thankful for my mother. She has been and will continue to be an incredible inspiration to me, both personally and professionally. Her creativity has been a part of Stampin' Up! from the beginning, her work has been featured in our Idea Books & Catalogues for years, and her support and encouragement have been invaluable. I will miss her dearly, but I know I will see her again, and in the meantime, I know she is in a happier, better place.
Mom Heather was simple and private. At her request, we will be holding a small, family-only service later this week. During this time I draw great support and comfort from my Stampin' Up! family, and I thank you for being there for me in so many ways. I wish you a heartfelt peaceful holiday and encourage you to spend a few meaningful moments during the coming days with your loved ones. "

Reason: added Shelli's message
That sad. I'm very sorry for her but hopefully her Mom did not suffer too much. Sigh. Right before Christmas. I guess there is never a good time for tragedy.

What a shock and how tough to lose her right before Christmas!
If I'm thinking correctly, I met her mom at SU! Convention in '06. She's the amazing, crafty one, right? I'm only confused as her parents are divorced and I believe both are re-married, so I want to make sure I'm referring to the right person.
If so, she was SUCH an amazing person!!! So incredibly talented and so willing to share her creativity with anyone and everyone. I spent a good 45 minutes sitting with her and trying to soak up her talent.

A card will be sent tomorrow.
I never met her, but I think you are right because in her letter Shelli mentioned how her mom's work was often featured in catties and such.
OK--just went to my gallery and I actually took a picture of her at Convention. The link is below. She was SO great!!
I sat with her (Shelly's mom) and *I think* her sister Kelli Purkey as they worked on the pins that they're wearing in the photo. Absolutely amazing talent in that fam.

At convention 2006 I also sat with Heather (shelli's mom) and her sister Kelley. During the technique class Heather held my 4 month old little boy AND stamped. She told me all kinds of stories of how she used to get large boxes of new stamps each year. The stamps wouldn't have stickers on them and the wheels were on blocks, now all those stamps were in boxes in her garage. It was really neat to watch her stamp and hold a baby -- WAY TALENTED if you ask me.
BUMP! Come on girls....let's flood her mailbox with lovely handcrafted cards. It doesn't have to be SU...anything would be appreciated.
Maybe we should send a thank you cards that she can reuse to send to people who helped care for her mom, people who did major things for the family, etc. Write a note on a post it inside sharing your thoughts with her, but all she has to do is remove the sticky and it's a blank card ready to use. I remember after my daughter died how hard it was write the thanks yous much less to make the cards. People who know her are going to expect a stamped card, why not help her while showing our support at the same time.
Thanks for sharing her address. I can certainly feel her pain and her sorrow as my Mother died in 2000 and we had her funeral the day before Thanksgiving. So the Holidays can certainly bring back memories. She will always be with her in Spirit right there in her heart. I will keep Shelli and her family in my thoughts and prayers and send her a card also.
I lost my mom in early January of 1996...the pain never ceases, just dulls a bit. My heart goes out to her and I will send a card as well, thanks for posting this I missed it on the SU! site.
