Pinterest is just what I needed to get back into social media a bit again, plus helps with organization too. Going to go back thru this thread and follow everyone here!
My pin boards are early in the making...but you can follow me ..
I like the fact that I don't have to use bookmarks on my toolbar anymore. If I am at work and find something to Pin, I can go home and log in to Pinterest and there is whatever I found while I was at work. Instead of being at home trying to remember what website I found that I wanted to remember, lol.
Or having notes in my pocket with websites written on them to go back to when I get home. Now I can just Pin It and find it at home or vice versa. Sweeeet!!
Pineterest is awesome! I'm such a visual person, so for me this is the best possible way to "surf"! Brilliant concept -- completely addidicted! I have the app too, great way to pass the time when you're having to wait! A new happy place!
You know, I checked into this and received an invitation. However, it said that I have to sign up through either my Facebook or Twitter account and give access to my friends and family who are on my list. I'm just not comfortable doing that, so I declined. Is there another way to join without granting access to that information?
you could write to them and ask, but I don't think so. I set up a twitter acct just so I could join Pinterest. I think all of the boards are public though. you might want to check into that.

Thanks, Jennifer. I did email them to ask, but they never replied.

Once you join with Twitter, you can just log in with your email address and password - you never have to use the Twitter and Facebook features of the site after that.
They just do that because you can set it up to automatically tweet and FB your pins, but you don't have to
So I wouldn't have any reservations about setting up your account.

This is the info. I received when I tried to log in with Facebook:
Pinterest is requesting permission to do the following:
Access my basic information
Includes name, profile picture, gender, networks, user ID, list of friends, and any other information I've shared with everyone..Post to my Wall
Pinterest may post status messages, notes, photos, and videos to my Wall.Access my data any time
Pinterest may access my data when I'm not using the application
Why would they need to have access to all of that personal information just to set up an account? Too much Big Brother for my comfort.
I signed up through Twitter last month. I haven't really gotten into it, though. I just don't get the hype. It's just a place to share and see pictures. I thought it was going to be something more. Just not for me, I guess.
