Is this better than just "bookmarking" sites on your browser (Firefox, IE). I'm just getting started in card making/scrapbooking, so I don't have anything to offer.
Should I ask for a pin? Thanks

I think it's better than just booking. I forget what I booked marked. This way you can see the picture of what you were saving. When you click on the picture, it takes you to the original website.
I have been pinning sketches and things that I like to inspire me in my scrapbooking (layouts, how' to's etc.), storage ideas, recipes I like.
I am obsessed with Pinterest. There's so many different things on there that inspire me! I'll be looking through everyone's pinboards! Here's a link to mine if anyone is interested: Stacey Brucale (xxsquigglesxx) on Pinterest
I love Pinterest too! So many great ideas out there and a great way to organize them all. I even found my Christmas card that I posted on SCS on there. It was using the Frostyville memory box die cut. I was very surprised to stumble across it on Pinterest.
Question--has anyone pinned a youtube video before? I tried my Pin It button, and it couldn't find a video or big enough image on the page (really?). I couldn't find anything on the Pinterest site to help me, and I sent them an email, but who knows when I will hear back. TIA!
I had to down an image to my computer and copy the URL. Then when you click the ADD+ you choose upload and then upload the image. THEN go back and click edit and add the URL.
You can do this same thing for any image that comes back and says it can't find an image when you use the pin It button on your browser.

Pinterest had set up a way to pin a YouTube video, but YouTube changed something and broke it. That happens frequently - I had a program that let me download videos but it needed to be upgraded regularly because of changes in YouTube which stopped it working.
I found an entry on the pinterest blog &, in the comments, there was a discussion about this.
One user found a way to create a pin by starting the video & pausing it a couple of seconds in - once an image appeared. It looks like the 1 or 2 seconds of blank screen at the start of most videos prevents Pinterest from "seeing" the video. He had a detailed work around that worked for some (but not all). I'll look for it and post it here if I find it.

Go down to the comments and find one by Zach - currently it's the first one - and there is his workaround.
If you're interested in finding out a little more about how Pinterest works (including functions not included on the Help page) look over at the column on the left of the page, at the top, where it has a grouping "categories". Click on "Site features and tips".

I just went to the main home page of Pinterest and it allows you to sign in that way. But I did already have an account there, so that may be why I could?? I'm not sure.
