Julie asked me to post something on the forum to let you know we are now offering a shipping discount to our beloved International customers.
Until we get our new ordering system in place she will have to modify your order "after" you place it....but she will be making the following changes to your orders....
Any International order placed that is $100 or more will receive a $10 discount.
Any International order placed that is over $200 will receive a $20 discount.
Hope this helps with the shipping charges. It will allow us to continue to provide tracking information and insurance coverage while easing the burdon of shipping costs...
oh wow that is so great, I was hoping that something like this would happen to help out with the shipping, Thank you Thank you Papertrey. I can order now!!! Yay!!

There is good news and bad news!!! Sorry, but I noticed the price of the paper went up to $26.00 from $23.00 so I guess we will be paying extra there.
I just put an order in (but didn't send it) just to see what the postage would be, the order was for $164.00 (mostly paper) - I used the USPS Priority Mail International Insured - it came to $30.15. Does anyone know if the $10.00 discount is off of that or do they take it off after??
Thanks
Kathy
Crappy I only ordered $68 worth of stuff cuz I was feeling the pinch, I could have easily spent another 32 to save 10! ;)

What paper costs $26?
As for the discount, according to the site, for the moment, it has to be taken off manually - after you complete your order.
I just placed one today. So, if I'm not mistaken, I'll only pay about $7.00 in shipping.
Hope I don't get dinged by customs.
Wheeeee!
If products are made in Canada or the US, duty is not collected. PTI stamps, ink & paper are made in the US, so you'll be fine. I ask companies to indicate on the customs form that they're Made in USA or Canada as the case may be.

Thanks for sharing shipping info!
The customs she is referring to isn't the a custom fee but rather the GST and if applicable PST for your province that you are required to pay once merchandise purchased from the US (regardless of where it is made) is over $25/30 (can't remember the amount) - plus customs/post office add a $5.95 processing fee.
I find once a package makes it to the $60 level - it seems to get stopped and I have to pay. I'm in AB so for a $100 - I'm looking at about $11 (5% and 5.95 fee)
Well, that nice but what about those who can't afford to drop one or two hundred dollars on an order and just want to get a set or two...the $18.45 shipping to canada for that is outrageous!!!!!!! I think they are overlooking the little guys and catering toward the big spenders.

I agree here, we can't all spend over $100 every time we want to order $25 worth of stuff. Is there not a flat rate box for, lets say $5.95 that they could be using???

Sorry, I have to correct myself the bundle of paper/ribbon/ink was $23.00 now is $26.00. Sorry for the confusion, I guess I was still in shock when I typed it, or maybe the smoke coming out of my ears was impairing my vision and thinking as I was stewing over the dropping of postage yet putting the bundle price up in the same breath. Seemingly, we can't win.....

Its funny how other companies such as "Flourishes" are charging $0.00 for postage to Canada, Gina K is a flat rate of $5.95 for anything over $35.00 - no matter what it weighs.
Kathy
True $100 is a hefty purchase. However the shipping discount has at least made me consider their stamps again. At least now I might consider saving up a couple of months and then making a purchase. Before the discount it just wasn't worth it. I have been itching to try their new paper line but couldn't justify the cost. Now I think I might.

I think that might be because the stitched ribbon wasn't available last time. This time it is.
It is really good news about the postage discount but if we order over $31 of goods here then it goes straight to the customs area and then they charge an extra fee when they deliver it and tax on top - so $100 is going to work out at about about the same in tax and UK post office charges. Before a $24 set came straight through no problem :(

I hear ya sistah! i usually try to keep my US purchases into Canada under $40 because beyond that I get charged taxes and handling fees. If i spend $100 to get a $10 discount on shipping the taxes and handling will exceed the shipping discount! Can't win!

The limits are:
Purchase - $20.00 CAD
Gift - $60.00 CAD
The fee everyone is paying is a $5.00 Canada Post handling fee plus HST/GST/PST as applicable in the province the goods are being delivered to.
Customs does not charge duty unless the package obviously states the origin is other than North America. (if shipped within NA, of course!)
Lots of packages slip through the cracks but you should always assume you will pay these fees. If it arrives with nothing owing on it, consider it a bonus.
I know the limits are low and that Canadians buy a lot of scrapbooking supplies from the States as the trendy stuff takes ages to hit the Canadian market but these fees are nothing to do with the seller. It's really only an extra $5.00 because you would have to pay these taxes if you bought them within Canada.

It is because of that stitched ribbon. I hope you see this and feel better. Last month they didn't have the stitched ribbon in stock so it wasn't in the bundle, but this month it is. a ribbon spool is $3 so that's the price increase.
I totally know how you'd feel though if there was a dicount at the same time as a price increase.
hugs,
e

Thanks Erin for clearing that up for me, I really didn't notice the extra ribbon.
I did notice while cleaning up some of my boxes - a box from a Papertrey order made Dec. 7, 2007. The order was for 4 Acryllic Stamp Sets for a value of $51.00 with the actual postage of $4.66 right on the box. I just put that same order in to the Papertrey site and it would cost me $18.45 postage, WOW what a difference. OUCH

Just some information - hope you find it helpful.
