Talking Lincoln's Birthday - NSR

I wanted to share a little excitement we are experiencing here in little, ol' Springfield Illinois. Tomorrow is Abraham Lincoln's birthday and it is also the 200th anniversary of his birth. We have all sorts of celebrations going on this month and tomorrow President Obama will be in town for our annual Lincoln dinner.

My daughter's 4th grade class was chosen to read the Gettysburg Address at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the museum taped their reading and posted it on You Tube. I think it is so stirring to hear their young voices speak these famous words. If you get a chance, either head to my blog to play the video which I posted or visit the museum website and listen http://www.alplm.org/home.html

Thanks for letting me share my excitement!

Conny

Connie,
I'm a teacher in Jacksonville and our school is going to participate in the reading of the Gettysburg Address tomorrow, too. I agree, it's a pretty exciting time for Springfield and the surrounding area!

That's so exciting!! I think it's awesome that President Obama will be there for the celebration! Now Springfield, Illinois is on my list of places to hopefully visit!
