What is this phenomenon that a post will say 75 replies and 2,075 viewers? Who are the other 2,000 people? This is always very fascinating to me as I always study the numbers. Probably not that fascinating, but still I wonder as I meander the boards?
I used to be one of those "addicts" until I saw they tracking that is done by this site. I guess they all do it (all forums) but I just read most of the time now. I also found out some other things about possums and puppets and choose not to get sucked into threads that obviously are there just to bump the posting numbers for advertising purposes/dollars. It makes me sad that you get hornswaggled into believing that people are real and honest and then !boom! you find out they are not...
I think most people here are good and honest but there are those few that can ruin it for everyone.

What this "phenomenon" is, for instance, there is a thread in the Need a Lift section titled "~~~SamanthaUpdate~~~" some people "post" (type a reply) in the thread to Samantha, her mom and/or other SCSers that may have posted, but many SplitCoastStampers might just go to the thread to "view" the posts and see how Samantha is doing. This is why there are so many "views", I may not "post" to the thread, but I want to keep updated on how Samantha is feeling. I hope I explained it clearly. (By the way, I do think it IS fascinating...just knowing how many people are actually "viewing" Samantha's thread is very amazing. On her thread, it has 1,437 replies and 28,738 views!! It really shows me how much support some SCSers give Samantha and her family! )
oh and I like to look at the amount of other people's posts and wonder "how long will it take me to post that many times!" especially since I can't get on like I would like...oh and by the by...this probably is not the place to "post" this, but I did not think of that till after the deed...forgive my lapse...
Are you also describing comments on cards? I know that I don't leave enough comments for all of the cards that I enjoy but if the card has no info or says "see my blog" I just move on without leaving anything.
As far as posts - I already think I sometimes comment too much. But I read even more! I have learned how to subscribe without having to make the "subbing" post ;)
Not describing, just observing, the numbers always wow me, and not just here, many other groups I belong to, same thing...thats why I say phenomenon...not dependent on anything, just....happens...that's all...thanks for sharing your insights...
I've noticed that too. When I first found SCS I was one of those who looked a lot at the threads but for some reason wasn't comfortable posting... I have no idea why that was! I was just a "lurker" I guess;)

Most SCS posters will state to "see my blog." I do it. It's a real pain to post the ingredients in 2 places and copying and pasting isn't as easy as it seems in 2 different formats. You should still leave comments though. You can think that a card is just nice without the card maker posting the recipe. I have been trying to get into the habit of at least posting the basics of how I made the card here.
In my humble opinion I believe most SCSers leave at least basic info. If you're not going to leave details - you can tell someone was there because the view count went up. I liked it so much I wanted a closer view of it. I don't have time to read blogs. Yes - I read a handful or so but that's not why I'm surfing SCS. I read/surf SCS to read and to learn and to admire.
This is not meant to offend anyone or start an argument. It is just my personal opinion. The original poster observed view count vs post count.
Michele, i use to feel the same...now I am over a 100 and I cannot get here nearly the way i would like...my next goal is over 200, then 300, then 400, then 500...ok I'll stop...seriously though...you will soon be way past 45...posts i mean...:-D
