Bumpin' this up. We've had sooo many duplicate files that have been removed cause the file names are scan001.jpg or setname.jpg. And a buncha non-categorized uploads, too.
My mouse-clicking hand is in a claw! Please help!!
Pretty, pretty please. . . . .
- rename your files to be username_filename.jpg so that they won't be considered a duplicate.
- upload only once. You can tell you've done it right if you have one "Image Pending Approval" for each file you uploaded. You'll receive an email when we've approved the file. Please don't re-upload!
- put your uploads in the correct category. If you're unsure, it can remain in Member Gallery. If there's not a category for the set (or technique or type of project), it can stay there. Generally, if you get an email that your upload was moved, we would *really* appreciate you putting it somewhere so we don't have to.
Thanks much, guys, for helping us out. It's way fun to see everything you guys upload! We appreciate you sharing with all 19,???? (almost 20K!) of us!
Jenn I think some of the problem with duplicate posts is because sometimes after you hit the submit button you get an error message saying "website not responding" and people upload their cards again. Myself included, until I realized that the upload went through correctly. Now I just ignore it and go directly to my member gallery to look for the image pending approval thumbnail. Just a thought
Thanks for mentioning the "website not responding" thing! Sometimes the site is being wonky, especially when there are a ton of people on.
Also, AOL users tend to have issues with the multiple upload/website responding thing. Don't know why, but I had issues when I used AOL, and have noticed that others do, too.
It's no biggie to scan for duplicates; they have to be approved, then they can be removed with a click.
The main thing is that when we scan for duplicates, sometimes we have bookoo that get removed because the file name matches others that were uploaded before. I feel so bad when I see that. . . cause I know people get that email that their upload was approved, and then they click to see it, and POOF! It's gone!
It must be AOL, cuz EVERY time I upload something, I ALWAYS get the error message, so I learned not to hit the back button cuz then it gets resent. I think I had 4 dupes one day!!!!! So I have to close out SCS then come back on. OY!
Thanks for the info, and for putting it on a sticky. I love the site and want to make your lives easier!
I tried to think about the first time I uploaded and I guess I was thinking that instructions would already be there. So perhaps you could have something that pops up for newbies, with all of the guidelines, then almost like my Norton, then has a box called "don't remind me of this again." But the button would still be available at the top of the upload page in case we needed to refer to it again. Just a thought! (But perhaps this would involve an immense amount of work to accomplish, so if it is unrealistic, apologies!)
One question: Can a card have more than one category?
And so sorry for all the uploads I did two nights ago without a category.
Jenn, lol, I feel AWFUL!! I loaded three pics on one page last night, and then realized that I didn't select a stamp set. So, I went back, did it right, and deleted the three I did first. NOT! I accidently deleted two that were the "fixed" category ones, and the ones that weren't fixed were rejected. I thought to myself "I wonder if Jenn is REALLY ticked at me?" Then just a while ago I was uploading and clicked on enter instead of the tab to the next box - duh! I deleted that one, too, because it entered the gallery "system" to be arpproved instantly. I am SO sorry! I"m trying so hard to be careful, and I keep making mistakes!!!

It's been said over and over, this is an awesome site. Thanks for the insightful post. I continue to aspire to someday share my creations with you all. In the meantime, I have become a chronic forum / gallery reader, and continue to learn so much from you all. I have CASEd a couple of ideas from here while I build my supply. Oh gosh, when will I ever be "ready?" LOL
Hi! New here! This is possibly a dumb question, but I'm asking anyways.....I store all my digital pics on Shutterfly. When I upload them to any other site, it's no problem....however I tried to upload pictures to a gallery I started here, but no go....is Shutterfly not an approved place to upload from?TIA!Tina
sorry I'm a little bit on the computer illiterate side....I have a few picture galleries on Shutterfly and all I usually do is view the picture I want to share, right click on it, copy the properties and paste it where I want it to go....
I don't save my digital pics to my computer, only to Shutterfly...so I'm not sure that I answered your question-I'm just trying to copy and paste each picture in....
and I so want to share on the gallery-I got inspired by the gift collection to create a "thank you note survival kit" for a bride to be's shower next Saturday and I think the project is turning out great.....TIA!Tina
I was wondering when you post which stamps you use, Or what technique, is that where they go when they come off the the members list? Is that what you mean by giving them a home to go to? And also if they get posted late in the day, how long do they stay on the members gallery before getting sent to their final resting place? I want to make sure I enter everything in properly when I post my cards so I make it easier for those in charge of categorizing everything. Man! You guys sure work hard!! Thank you so much!!!!
