It's disappointing to click on a post marked SUO and then find out it's SU-not much. I'm pretty sure it won't make any difference, but I just wanted to put in my two cents to say if it's not Stampin' Up! only, please don't use that tag. Maybe a reminder about other tags would help, like SUM (mostly) - are there more? SUS (some); SU1 (one SU product)? As a demo, I stick to SU products and want to see items made with them, so when I go to the SUO gallery, that's what I expect to see. Thanks for listening.
I don't hit those galleries per-say but I do understand how important those tags would be. Everyone is busy and it would certainly help save time.
The gals on the boards are great about listening and taking the suggestions to heart so keep watching.

Hey Tammy!
Most people do that just out of a lack of familiarity with the keywords - it's just an honest mistake.
To help us keep the gallery organized and useful, please hit the report button when you find an image misclassified and we will be happy to edit keywords or move the image to the correct gallery.
There are three standard keywords for our Stampin' Up! entries:
SUO - SU products only
SUM - SU products mostly
SU - contains some SU product.

I understand what you mean for sure. The SUO tag should be used only for items that are created solely with SU products. Thanks so much for the reminder! Did you know that you can "report" gallery photos with a report button near the bottom portion of the original post? Briefly describe the issue being reported, and the gallery mods will take a look & correct when appropriate.
I am NEW to all this. Is there a thread somewhere that tells us what each CATEGORY means when we upload a photo?
I understand what some of the categories mean but some of them aren't very clear to me.
LOL....I didn't realize until just yesterday that we could even categorize our photos. I thought where it said "member galleries" it meant you had to be a paying member to use that!!
Seems there could be a better way to address these types of issues besides using words such as "disappointing", etc. I'm here to enjoy sharing my crafts and seeing others and in the meantime, having fun and helping each other. That tone feels somewhat like a put down and I don't believe that this website wants to relay that type of environment, do we.
Regarding stampinupastorm's comment on the SU gallery. Valid point, I think! I am not an SU demo but primarily use SU products. I am probably one of those people who listed a card incorrectly (not intenionally, of course) but I'm fairly new here and was unaware there were more tags than just SUO so I'm glad this came up. I find there's lots to take in here but it's just a matter of playing well together!
Lydia, (understandblue) thanks for posting the other tags! I've got them on a post it hanging off my monitor to remind me until I can remember on my own!!

That video is really helpful, isn't it .
I just thought I'd add my tip - all the categories in the Technique Spotlight relate back to tutorials in Resources, and so do a few in the Anything but a Card category. If you look at this page - Anything BUT a Card: Decorative Clipboards, Artist Trading Cards & More - Page - Splitcoaststampers - you can see that some of those say Click Here for a tutorial. That gives you some idea to help in categorizing - although of course any tea-bag holder can go into the category for tea-bag holders.
Conversely if you go to a tutorial in Resources and click on the link to the associated gallery, you can see where that gallery is located, as some of them aren't always easy to find. The tissue box holders are down in Home Decor, for example, and Paper Beads are in Jewellery.
I think of it as a bit like the Dewey Decimal System for libraries - it makes sense when you understand it, and it sure makes things easier to find if you're just browsing for ideas.

I just came back to this thread and want to clarify my use of the word "disappointing." I said this because when I look at a beautiful card made with another company's product, I realize I don't have that product and won't buy it because I'm a demo and can't use it in my workshops. I often try to figure out a way to get the same effect using SU products, but can't always do that.
So yes, it is disappointing when posters (and I'm sure it's not intentional) use the SUO tag when the card is clearly not SUO.
My comment was not a put down in any way shape or form, just a plea for proper use of the tags. If you're searching for ways to use SU products, you don't want to see a bunch of non-SU stuff. I do appreciate all the creativity here, including the non-SU items. Let's just please put them in the right category.
I also want to say Thank you to all who work so hard to keep Splitcoast up and running so nicely, I love this site it is my very favorite and I would be lost without this site, so thank you all for what you all do. Thank you , thank you, thank you.
Hi there! I just joined the Splitcoast community and am trying to sort out uploading my photos. I'm on a Mac computer and don't know how to resize my photos in iphoto. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? Or what method I can use to resize my photos otherwise before uploading? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for your reply! I did have a look through that first page, and it doesn't say anything specific to Mac. :/ I feel like I should know how to do this, but I usually resize my photos online (ie. photobucket) so I don't know how to accomplish it right on my computer before uploading here. I'm sure I can't possibly be the only Mac user on here though.... I'm sure someone knows what I need to do!

OK, just pointed that out because that is what I had to do - I don't have any Photoshop, etc - so I just change my CAMERA settings when I am taking pictures of my cards, and then change it back when I am done - for me, it is only changing from M1 to M3 setting on MY camera -

Kim, I don't know anything about Mac and I don't know if the program I use is a windows -only but you can search for Fast Stone Photo Resizer. I'm not a computer geek by any means and I was able to work with it right away.

Hi Kim,
I'm a Mac user and here's what I do:
In iPhoto, after I edit my photo and it is all ready for SCS, I export it to a file on my desktop which I created specifically for photos to go on SCS. It is at this point that I can resize the photo. The steps for exporting and resizing are:
1. With the relevant photo selected, click on "File" in the bar at the top of the screen and then select "Export" from that drop-down menu.
2. In the box that opens up, under "File Export", there is an option for "Size". Select "Custom". It then opens up a place for you to put in Maximum Dimensions. Put in 2000 (which is SCS's maximum).
3. Click on "Export" and send it to the file on your desktop. When uploading for SCS, just select that file and your photo will be there.
Let me know if you need any further clarification on any of that.
I have been uploading my card photo twice. Is there a way I can show "separately" both the front and the inside or closeup of the card with just one upload? If there is, please show me an example of it.

Hi there. The only way to show both in one upload is to Photoshop/edit them together. Sometimes people take two pictures and then edit them into a single photo. But there's not a way on our site to combine two photos - you'd have to do that in your own editing software.

Thank you, Lydia. I'll just continue to upload as I have been doing. Thanks again.
Hi! I could use a refresher on how to put keywords in our uploads. Comma or no between keywords? Multiple words (ie. Greeting Card Kids) with or without spaces between words...? I do this differently every time and know there must be a "right" way to do it! Thanks for your help!
Thanks for this great info. Could you tell me why some uploaded photos appear in the recently uploaded gallery just fine but appear blank with a red x or blue ? on the first page (ex:recent challenge uploads or comments)? Is this something we cause by something we do wrong?

Sure would be wonderful to have a category for Masculine or Unisex cards in the Gallery.
