I know many of you wonderful ladies have kids. My son is having an art project for the 100th day of school which happens to be Friday. Do any of you have the same project where your kids have to come up with something creative using 100 items. I know a few years ago we did wrote 100 in bold letters on poster board and filled it in with 100 buttons. This year, he wanted to do something different. My son who is 8 is beginning to sew...so now he wants to make a quilt using blocks. They will be 2 inch blocks and he'll make a quilt. I also thought of a flower garden using some quilt pieces from my Grandmas flower garden to create a scene..he didnt like that.
What are your ideas, please share with us what you are going to create.
Happy Creating.
Bonnie

My students are tying their service project to 100 days...
I'm a third grade teacher and this is what my students have decided to do this year:
They will make 100 fortune cookies with Chinese characters in the message for the other third graders in the school (They are learning about Ancient China),
100 Valentines to the local retirement home.
100 handmade USA cards to the local military base.
100 hand sewn Heart pillows to a children's hospital (cancer unit).
Our 100th day is February 11 (barring no inclement weather days).
how about getting 100 students to sign a block and make the quilt into a 100. The teacher/school could hang that as incentive for students to make 100 on say a spelling test for the year's goals. or attendance-have an average attendance of 100 days for the year-that should be easy for the school to achieve!
My daughter had to do this for the first time this year and I stamped 100 different images on white cardstock and had her color them. Then we arranged them on poster board for display.

Great job incorporating stamping into your project, LOL!
Our school does a 100th day celebration. I remember my kids having to glue 100 pieces of Froot Loops cereal on paper that had a huge "100" on it. Another project was they colored and cut out a pair of glasses that was a 100. The two 0's of course were the glasses lenses, they even had side temples so the kids could wear them - cute! The project I worked at was they had to put 100 inked thumbprints on another "100" paper. (There were several projects going on in the Kindergarten classroom last year. Parent volunteers worked at each project while the kids rotated around in groups.)
My son has his first 100th day this year. He is going to take in 100 sticker sheets. If it's possible we hope to pass them out to the class afterward.
The teacher has asked that we keep the 100 collection small or compact, since there are 4 kindergarten classes (am and pm) participating in the celebration. The sticker sheets are small (Mrs. Grossman grab bags specials!) and can fit into a small Ziploc baggie.
I like the idea of stamping 100 images. We may do something like that next year.
what about the class collecting donations of 100 stuffed animals. not to large of ones. and making little hang tags for them from the school and donating them to the area emergency room. when the little kiddos come in for treatment its very comforting for them too get a toy to hug while they go threw there exams. i know i personally have a boat load of beanies still with tags on them just sitting there in a bin waiting for some kidder. if the class was 20-25 kids they only have to collect 4 or 5 animals each not to shabby
With the stuffed animals - you may want to check with your hospital first. Our church is collecting them right now for a "Stuffed with Love" program that the local christian radio station is doing. After we started our collection, the radio station added a "must be brand new" clause due to hospital policies. So our youth director checked around to different hospitals to see what their policies are and one is supposed to get back with her - they MIGHT still take the "gently used" ones. The ones my kids and I donated LOOK brand new, but there are no tags to prove if they are or not. So I don't know if they'll be accepted.
But anyway, it's a GREAT idea to get the whole class involved! Just check with the hospital first for definite details. ;)
Our 100th day is tomm. 2/2
here is another thread about this subject Forums at Splitcoaststampers
we ( I teach 1st grade) have spent the last week counting out 100 of everything I can get my hands on!!
tomm we will do a 100 cereal necklace and i punched out 1600 16 kids at 100 each, small circles of paper with my scraps and the kids will see what they can create with 100 circles!! It was a long process for some of them to count out the 100 circles. I did the punching they did the counting!!
Have fun!!
I like the quilt idea, but man will he have time to make it---how about sewing 100 buttons into the shape of "100"?
My son ended up making the quilt this week when they were stuck in the house due to the icky ice storm we had. It was really nice. I will post a picture later. I taught both my kids how to sew this week. They each made a cat quilt for the cat bed. They did a great job!

In my first grade class, we counted out 100 Fruit Loops on the 100s Board. They put one Fruit Loop on each of the squares of the 100s board. Then we made 100 Day hats---I posted a picture of them---and wore them to lunch. They loved it!
