I just saw on the SU! website that SU! is raising the minimum shipping to $6.95....crazy. This will freak out many customers who don't place large orders. What about demo's who only need to order a couple packs of mini catalogs....for two packs shipping would be more than the cost of the mini's!!!!!! I heard that TAC raised theirs...so I guess it was only a matter of time....but it still stinks!

Well seeing the rates that UPS charges on packages I send out from work, I am surprised that we have had it this good this long!
UPS has had increases and it is hard for SU to continue to absorb these charges.
ITA - it's hard for all the companies who ship right now. They don't want to scare away customers, but they don't want to loose money either. And with oil reaching record high prices this week, I don't see anything changing any time soon either!

The one reason TAC raised their shipping, was because they were eating a lot of the shipping cost.
And since shipping has gone up through the Post Office and UPS, and FED-X.
I'm sure this is why.
Althought TAC didn't raise their prices on Stamps or supplies. Just the shipping.
And TAC calls their shipping: Shipping/Handling.
Our Shipping starts at $6.95 up to $69.50 After that it's 10% of order.
Which isn't bad.
The only time it's bad is when you purchase some for say. $7.95 and then pay Shipping. on top of that.
Sometimes when I have a couple of other orders, I send them in all together. Then shipping isn't that bad.
Well, I'm thinking that it would add a buck or two at most to the average order that falls under the minimum order amount. If I were to be paying $5 shipping currently on a $50 order, after April 1 I'll be paying $1.95 more. Eh! That's not so bad to me. The sad thing is, I rarely restrain myself to be affected by this, lol! My orders are generally high enough that shipping costs will stay the same for me.
Fortunately, anybody that's in a monthly club won't be affected, since workshop orders will still be at the 10%...since shipping is based on the workshop total, not individual orders.

In Canada each order is already 10% for shipping -- mind you that is for the customers. I don't know what the demos pay.
I haven't heard any plans for CTMH to raise shipping costs, but then again they also raised prices minimally on cardstock, paper packs, and inkpads with the Spring Idea Book. I've noticed that prices are going up in general no matter what area of interest. My weekly grocery bill is KILLING me!!!
I think it stinks! I feel that it will deter my customers who order monthly, with smaller orders. I already have customers who complain about the price increase on paper and pads in the fall. This will blow them away, I'm sure.
IMHO, I see no real reason to get upset over shipping prices, as the cost of everything is rising as well. Just remember that even though SU is raising it's shipping prices, our wonderful demos still have to foot the higher fuel bill to deliver our products to us. I know that as an Avon rep, my own fuel bill has increased quite a bit as my deliveries take me between 6 or seven cities and gas here is almost 3.25/gal. I sometimes wish I could just elect to have all my SU orders direct shipped to me to save the gas for the demo. I hope that made sense. lol
I had discussed with my dh the possiblity of just giving up my hobby of stamping because of the cost increases here and there- he tells me that there's no way he'd have that.. lol He smokes and goes through pop like water so in his mind it's only logical that I have my vice too. He's too cool

I thought the same thing at first, but when I thought about it, I really wasn't surprised. Especially when everything else is going up. As far as smaller orders, if you put them together and have enough, they will still only pay the 10%, instead of the 6.95 if you put it in as a workshop order.

I understand that everything is going up in price. It just seems that it is harder to keep customers buying SU. There is so much more product out there then there ever has been before. I can't tell you how many people have asked me why SU hasn't gone to clear/acrylic stamps. I just feel that this may be the icing on the cake for some of my customers who have been falling away from the awe of SU. I, of course, will still buy because I love their stuff! My ordering alone will keep me out of pending even if I do lose customers

I wouldn't mind paying the increase in shipping if it speeded up the delivery. From Utah to Illinois takes 8-14 days from the day it ships. There are several places that I order from that offer free shipping & I get it 2-4 days from ordering.
You should have the prices we pay over here in the UK it is 1.15 per litre of diesel, and many of us order things from the States because it is still cheaper even with the postage added on.
That does stink but you figure everything keeps going up.... consumers keep paying the price and all this is because of oil prices and their affect on everything downline from that. Sad....
I recently placed an order with an online store and my order came to $56.44
The shipping was $16.99..........:(
$6.95 really is not that bad and it doesn't affect the typical workshop order. I would rather see this raised than the 10% which has been that way forever.
We have to realize that many things in the world are going up in price, pretty soon we will be milking our own cows, Tallahassee, Florida, the price of milk is more than gas. Raise our own chickens, cows, pigs, etc..... Things are getting tough out there and just wait until our children get our age, I think we can consider our selves lucky.
The company I used to work for raised the cost of shipping because UPS had raised its costs to them so much. We ended up seeing a decrease in sales, so we started shipping priority mail and charging only exact shipping costs for larger orders. We ended up seeing a 10% increase in sales in 6 months and my bosses were very happy. Personally I would love to see SU move to USPS because UPS won't deliver to my door when I am not there (I work 2 jobs) and I always have to drive to the local UPS center and pick it up. What a pain. I know the increase in shipping from SU will have me thinking twice about small orders. I certainly don't want my demo to eat the $, and knowing how wonderful she is she probably would. Just about every time I place an order there is an extra goody in the box from her to me.

I have a home business with a health & wellness company and they had to raise their rates last year because UPS and Fed/Ex raised their prices.
As many have posted...it is a sign of the times. I watched the Today show this morning talking about oil, and thereby gas, increases as well as food price increases. Yikes!!
I too stewed about this for a little while mainly because I hate breaking news like this to my customers, but for the most part, they understand, and I am not worried about sales. I still buy groceries and they are eating up paychecks fast so what does a person do? (Besides quit eating!LOL)

Wow that's odd! I used to live in Eastern Tennessee and the longest an order ever took after shipping was like 4 days max!!! I wonder what the hold up could be for your packages??? Here is a map that shows how long the transit time is for ground packages from Utah. According to that map you should have your packages in 3-4 business days MAX!!! I think you need to call UPS and find out what in the world the problem is!

Yikes! This will definitely effect my purchasing from SU. I find it easier to gather a 40 or 50 dollar order than a 70$ one :(
so your order price goes up by just $1.95 for a $50 order.....not too much really!! And just imagine if you bought all cardstock or punches how heavy that order would be!! I imagine SU still eats some shipping!!!

I personally think that 10% shipping is a lot, especially for large orders. I recently ordered $300 from a workshop and it does not cost $30 to ship a box. Mabey they need to look into alternative shipping methods if they are losing money on shipping. I also run an at home business and I keep shipping costs down by shopping for the best price and it would never be $30 for one box of stuff. SU prices are already pricey so when you add on the tax & shipping it really adds up.
Just my opinion!

But they also have to pay their employees to package those orders up and buy boxes and packing materials! It all adds up! I really don't think 10% shipping is too high! There are plenty of other companies that charge a whole lot more!!!
