I have been trying all day. This catalog online thing is horrifying. It does not download easily quickly or without errors. It is an enormous file 19megs. Too large for any of us to download properly.
I spoke with Tara at SU, I basically got that the pdf FORMAT IS THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR THE TIME BEING. They are going to have it this way until the online ordering begins, which they do not have a date for as of today's catalog launch.
All that being said if you are lucky to see the online catalog you are one of the few. I have the fastest computer and the lastest and greatest forms of download service and I can not get it open. So start complaining to SU.
Only noise will get them to move. Many of you out there are still dial up internet service so forget seeing on line right now. it would take days for you to get to view it. So sad...
After trying for 2hrs, I was able to download it so I decided to save it locally and keep a copy on my desktop. After another hour it saved and I closed the web-window. Too bad I'm getting the message that the .pdf is damaged and can't be opened. Now I've started the download all over again and it looks like it'll be another 2hrs even with my cable modem. *sigh* I think I should just wait until I go to my demo's new catty party Fri. night.

I downloaded it and had a blank screen with an error message saying that there was a problem viewing the file. Maybe something has happened to the catalogue and that is why there is an error
...SU should consider multiple PDFs. Like only 30 or so pages a PDF, so the download times will be shorter.
Good idea. That would also help prevent the huge partial downloads that run into problems and require people to start over from the beginning. After reading all the horror stories, I'm glad I didn't attempt to download it today.
I liked how the last online catalog was set up. I wish this one was like that. It is nice to have a PDF that you can save to your computer or even burn to a CD. But if you can't download it, it doesn't do much good.
I am another Cable internet, recent PC person who can't download the catty. :(
I'm having the same problem too :( What were they thinking??? My demo is dropping off a catalog at my house sometime this week - hopefully it will be sooner than later!
I give up. Totally frustrating. Both times when it got to the end of downloading, messages came up there was some type of trouble with the files. After waiting all that time, getting excited the end of downloading was near, then to have it not open.
I've been trying all day and I just got it! Finally!
It would d/l the fine and then when I tried to look through it, it would freeze up and I'd have to shut it down. It would delete the file even after I had saved it to my documents! This time though, it only took about a half and hour and then it came up just fine.
I guess everyone went to bed!

I managed to see the first 45 pages before I received the error message. I would love to place an order, loved what I saw so far - is there a demo out there who sends to Australia - a lot of the stamps in the USA cataloge don't make in into the Australian one and if they do it is 12 months later
I'm in the UK and I've finally managed to download it - tried yesterday - took hours and then only got to see up to pg 35 before it crashed and deleted. Downloaded pretty quick this time (a few minutes) but it won't let me save it - does this mean I have to download it every time I want to look at it - this is no good as I downloaded it so I could look at it later after work. Bah!
We must have crashed the server today with all the traffic. I can't even get on the SU home website at all. Thank goodness I have a catty in my hands to look at. I guess I'll just have to wait and order after this all settles down. Darn.
Javagirl- I had the same problem. I started downloading, went to sleep and woke up to 212 downloaded *empty* pages. I am so bummed. I'll try again tonight.
After several frustrating attempts to download the catty I gave up! I can't believe SU is doing things this way! How is a girl to order things they can't even see?! Well, I guess I'll just have to wait until I get a catty in my hands! Bummer!!
A big bummer, isn't it? I was up late last night and decided to start downloading it before going to bed. I right clicked and chose save as rather than loading it in my browser. It finally downloaded overnight and I was able to view it this morning. I hope everyone else is able to view it today.

Good Luck
Who do you suggest contacting? Just emailing demonstrator support? I'd be up for contacting because it's ridiculous trying to open it!
I gave up trying to download it last night, but did it first thing this morning (my time, Central Europe) and it was very, very fast. My friend in Japan did it at that time too....of course it was 2 or 3 am stateside lol
for the gal who can't save it.... providing you use IE.....do you see on you IE bar where it says "Page", might be in your top right hand corner of the screen. Click it and look at the options that drop down and hit "save as". I hate the new version of Adobe Acrobat....

i have been having the same problem. i got the blank screen last night and again today. takes forever to download and then you still have nothing. my computer is new (just a couple of weeks old and designed for these kind of graphics) so the problem is definitely with su. hopefully this will be corrected soon.
I FINALLY saved the file but it is too large to attach here so I put it on my blog on the sidebar - right click the catalog picture to save the pdf file to your computer. It should only take a couple of minutes.
This is the CANADIAN catty so has Canadian pricing....

Suzy_H - The only thing I get is the front cover. I right clicked and I clicked on the link. Same effect on both.
Thank you for providing a copy of the catalog. I downloaded it in less than 2 minutes. Perhaps you can give the Stampin' Up Web Master a few pointers on how to post a PDF!
I am having trouble D/L ing the catty too.....After 3 hours I had only .43MB to go and it errored out....agrr.
Any one else having trouble. Waiting on my new catty to arrive. (Hurry up UPS).

tried it and it worked! already perused the catalogue and am on to lunch. thanks a terrific lot.
downloaded it early this morning VERY quickly (compared to a 2 hour failure last night)... yeah, got it one day late due to such heavy traffic on the site the first day, but all I can say is I LOVE having it downloaded!!! Sat out in the far back yard in the hammock with my laptop cutting and pasting my wish list from the PDF file -- our wireless doesn't reach that far -- never could have enjoyed a 75 degree August day that way with the online version.
I haven't tried cutting and pasting images along with the recipies yet since I don't have a color printer at home, hoping that will work nicely. Anyone tried yet?

Yes, we're still having problems today. I was finally able to download a good copy of the file. Here's what worked.
Right-click on the text link for "Download the Fall-Winter 2008 idea book & catalog." You'll get a pop-up context menu.
In Firefox: select "Save Link As..."
In IE: select "Save Target As..."
... and pick a location to save your file.
Saving it this way will result in a download window that will show you the progress. It takes a few minutes to start going, so be patient. And don't believe the time estimates. I'm on cable and it still took 2 hours and 10 minutes. At least it finally worked.
