SCS's BEWARE!
I was just surfing on Etsy to see what was around, when I typed Altered Lunch Tins in to the search box. I stumbled across a photo of a lunch tin and I thought, "that looks familiar".
Then to my shock, I realized it was MY TIN and MY PHOTO (from my SCS Gallery) being advertised for sale! I have since sent her an email requesting that she remove it as it is false advertising and breech of my creative copyright! (among other things, including telling her - not so politely, how much she has annoyed me!)
I can't believe the audacity of some people! Us crafters take a long time creating our little pieces of art and then you get some selfish person trying to make a quick buck using our items to advertise things that they so obviously aren't capable of making themselves!
As you can probably tell, I am absolutely furious at this so called ***- People like her just really annoy me.
Has this happened to anyone else?

 I cannot believe that! That's just awful! I've had a similar situation arise. I have a friend who decided to start selling cards and projects and had samples to show people what they could buy from her. She copied my work to the "t" on some of the projects and others were actually my cards I had given to her. It was a very sensitive subject since I know the person, too.

i just love this part......
"No two tins are ever made the same and can be any color theme, and can be personalized with a name, or just a saying, or left blank.
Pictures shown are tins that have been made and are pictured for ideas and themes."
Umm thats because she didn't make it and CAN'T! At least she didn't say "made by ME" but by omitting it , its is quite obvious she didn't make it anyhow.
sorry to hear about this, hope she removes it! Report her to etsy!
WOW. It is one thing to CASE and give credit but to actually "steal" even your picture is horrible.
It is such a great tin.
I am so sorry and hopefully ETSY will make her take it down if she doesn't do it on her own!

Don't get me wrong, I joined SCS to share and get inspiration. Afterall, there are thousands of wonderful crafters here who do inspire me. But the whole point is to SHARE ideas and may be put your own spin on things. Not just blatantly STEAL!
My DH thinks the whole thing is hysterical and can't stop laughing. Mind you, he did say that it is the one thing in her shop that has got the most views!
Well, okay, I did laugh! But I am still really angry!
She hasn't responded to my email yet - so I await a response with baited breath!!
I can't believe someone would do what **** has done. She should be tarred and feathered, or at least banned from craft stores and stripped of pay pal!!!! I want to send her nasty grams just on the principal of her disrespect for others.
By the way Cupcake Angel I took a little peek at your gallery and your candles are amazing.

I hate to see stories like these! There was a bunch of this awhile back on ebay that got a lot of press, and it's just awful that people feel they can treat others this way and take credit for their work. {Don't get me wrong, I am all for sharing and CASEING and such, but be realistic!}. I am so sorry to hear this happened to you -- your tin is just beautiful.
Can I make a suggestion to help you protect yourself and your work in the future? If you have the capabilities, you can watermark your photos before you post them. I know some people have some gorgeous & fancy watermarks, but mine super simple, just has my name and my blog and it works great!
NOT NOT NOT that I think you did anything wrong in any way at all!! I want to be clear on that. Just sad and angry on your behalf too and trying to help out. At the very least it might give you some peace of mind. It would take some serious....somethin' to steal someone's work that even has their name on it, YKWIM?
Here's a great tutorial from the Stampin' Kub on making a watermark in Photoshop Elements. I have several versions prior of the PE software myself, but I was able to follow the tutorial just fine. Good luck, I hope etsy removes those auctions right away and that seller gets reprimanded.
Thanks Jennifer - I have been thinking about this for a while but not been too sure on how to do it! May be I shall be editing ALL of my photos! LOL
Thanks again.
If you need any help, PM me. Not that I am any kind of expert at ALL, LOL but I probably have some other resources bookmarked somewhere! When I first got my photo software I was so lost, I just played around and Google'd stuff trying to figure it out.
Good luck! Try to stay positive and have a great weekend!

I was looking thru the gallery to see if this woman was on SCS. I didn't find her, but I DID find pictures of the other Altered Lunch Tins (all but 1) that she has listed on Etsy, and none of them are hers! The other tins were created by:
Kraftygirl

jackie_1128
I cannot believe someone is that gutsy!! If I were you, I wouldn't even waste my time with her. I'd PM or email the other 3 ladies and go straight to Etsy and report her!!

You know, on a personal website I've read that there are codes you can use to make your images so that they can't be right-clicked and copied. I wonder if there's anything that can be done to the SCS galleries?
There are snippets of JavaScript you can add to website code to disable right clicking on an image but the truth of the matter is, there are just as many programs that will allow you to do a screen shot. If someone really wants an image they will get it. This is the dark underbelly of the internet. The very thing that makes it a wonderful resource for meeting and interacting with others on multiple levels also makes it a place where some of the more unscrupulous people can take advantage of others. All you can do is try to protect yourself as much as you can and focus on the positive.

I agree! Definitely let Etsy know and let the other ladies who had their photos stolen know.

How awful for you! I agree - can't you add a watermark or something to your photos so that no one is able to steal them? I don't know much about this stuff so maybe I am wrong...I'm so sorry this happened to you!
I'm sorry this happened to you. I would feel so violated. This is incentive for all of us to learn how to watermark our photos. Your gallery is beautiful, no one should be passing your work off as their own.
Those tins are amazing! I wish I knew how to make something like that! I can't believe someone would have the nerve to pass them off as their own! I hate when people do things like that! It's really disappointing; we should be celebrating those that have so much talent and hope that we can learn form them. Not take from them!

oh i hope this website doesn't do that! there's too many cards here that i've fallen in love with, that i want to use as inspiration, that i've copied on my printer, and put in my "where to look when you're stumped for an idea" book........
please don't let one (or two....) bad apples spoil it for the rest of us!

Oh, I completely agree with you.
I have saved many pics in my favorites too to use as INSPIRATION. But I have no intention of stealing them and promoting them as mine.
I said earlier in a previous post that one of the reasons I joined SCS was because of all of those wonderful inspirational crafters who really help me get over any creative blocks I have.
They should be celebrated and thanked but, most importantly, respected.
And, I too agree that I wouldn't want that function disabled on SCS.
I wish there was a way to publically humiliate her on ETSY. She HAD to know that she was plagerizing your work and that of all those other women. She should have to let anyone who purchased from her know that they were not her designs at all.
What a horrible thing to do!

So sorry this happened to you. Anyone who buys from her is going to be terribly disappointed when their item arrives. I'm sure the quality won't be the same as yours. If she could make beautiful items, she would be proud to display her own work.

Actually, all of them are still there. She has 2 tins listed and when you click on them, there are more pictures displayed beside each one (4 additional pictures down the right side). All of them except one (I couldn't find the "All About Sophie" tin) are from SCS galleries.
