From Prostitutes to Card Makers...they need our help
Ive never done anything like this before. I wanted to share this with people who enjoy making cards as much as I do.
My good friend works for Allow the Children, a ministry that cares for orphans and abandoned children. They have recently paired with House of Hope Ministries in Nicaragua to help with a Prostitute Rescue Mission. At this place prostitutes, either currently working or reformed have a place to go to find shelter where they learn about Jesus and learn that he spoke to a women in similar circumstance and said, Neither do I condemn you, Go and sin no more (John 8:11). These can find an alternate way to provide for themselves and their children by making cards. Some of their supplies are SU! Then they sell these cards that they have made instead of selling their bodies. Allow the Children are helping by having people sponsor their children.
This cuts me right to the core. I love to make cards. I do it as a hobby. But these women are doing it so that they dont have to sell their bodies. I cant even imagine. You can visit Allowthechildren.org or houseofhopenicaragua.com for further information. Some of these women have been prostitutes since the age of 4. And if they dont break the chain then their 4 year old daughters will be started as prostitutes.
Heres where we as a stamping community can help. My girlfriend is leaving for Nicaragua to go be with these women for a week (she also is a lover of all things stamping). We are collecting new and used card making supplies, anything from card stock, stamp pads, rubber stamp (either single or sets) and ribbon.
Like I said Ive never done anything like this before. But if this breaks your heart like it does mine check out there web sites. And you can read for yourself at the websites listed above. If your interest you can mail your stamping items directly to

She has to have donations by October 21. (Items received later than this date will be taken next trip)
One of our lss stores closed this summer. They were the store that routinely had 2 rummage sales a year which was a good time for me to do a little purging. I was wondering what I would do now! You'ved answer my question. I will try to send a box to you so you can get it before the October deadline! Good luck with the project.
i have some things laying around too that i don't use but maybe others will get use out of. no sense for it to just lay in my room when someone else can make something beautiful with it! thanks for sharing!
This is fantastic.. I hope Shea gets a lot of supplies. I attend BRCC where Shea and Todd are members and heard about this ministry. Praying she will get flooded with stamping supplies for these ladies!
Oh what a wonderful project. I'll see what I can come up with. I just met a friend today for lunch that just returned from Africa helping with the Sister Connection. She said it is such a blessing to go work with these women. We have retired friends that spend 6 months in Burundi every year teaching at Hope University. These women have nothing and we have so much.
Will take to post office tomorrow or Monday, but it won't go until Tuesday with the holiday. Hopefully it gets to you before you leave. Great project! Hope you can use what I sent.
Thank you so much! I really felt that God would use this forum. You are an answer to prayers. Just think stuff that we aren't using will help these women make cards that (with Jesus) will set them free from the bondage of the life they have lived before.
and got the nicest thank you note. I hope someone let's us know when we can do it again, because I definitely will! I have way more than I need so I do periodic purges and love a worthy cause to share them with!
Please please post another thread when the next trip is scheduled. I am sure I could find some things to send!
Just saw this thread tonight...sighhh...
God bless the workers and volunteers and the ladies who are actually making the cards to sell. Thank goodness for folks who still know what the word compassion means!!!
Please let us know when the next trip is-I have plenty of supplies to send.
Like many others have said, I just saw this today!
God bless them all-I will definitely help next time.

Please forgive me for taking so long to reply. (Splitcoast email goes to my spam folder)
Shea will be going again in January. If you would like to send supplies please use the address in the orginial post. We received a number of shipments and words are limited to express our gratefulness to everyone who participated. You are making a direct impact!
Shea got home safely on Wednesday and I haven't spoken to her yet although my husband saw her at church and she said they were SO BLESSED! As soon as I talk to her myself I post more info!
God Bless all you for your hearts for these women! Remember you can't out give God!
I talked to Shea last night. She said that the women in charge of the Prostitue Rescue Misson was so amazed with everything she received to help these women make beautiful cards! Shea also said she would receive shipments at anytime (she has a corner in her basement to take on her future trip)
Thanks again to everyone! I try to set up a link so you can view pictures!
I wonder if this would be considered for an upcoming SCS official "cards for a cause" organization, but rather than sending cards just send the unassembled components?
