For the HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION
Come join us for a weekend of Stamping and Scrapbooking fun!
We are going to really focus on the WEAR RED campaign this year… and do our best to raise as much money as we can for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The First Calgary Classic was a lot of fun and raised money for charity! We enjoyed meeting new friends and cherished the time with our seasoned ones….
Once again your coordinators for the event are: Christine Hall –toobusystamping and Adelee Penner – Adelee
We enjoy spending time together and this does give us one more reason to shop for ribbon….
Here are the details:
Date: October 17th – 19th, 2008 inclusive
Time:
Friday: we will kick off the event with registration & set-up 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
All payments must be received no later than August 30, 2008
Cost will cover: space rental for CC, refreshments on Friday, Lunch & refreshments on Saturday, Brunch and refreshments on Sunday.
Cost WILL NOT cover: Hotel, other food, transportation, shopping
*****As we have a kitchen with the Hall you are welcome to bring food provided it is properly labeled and stored. You must clean up after your self….anything left behind, will be discarded.
Payments can be made via Paypal to [email protected] (if you are using this method, please include $1.50 extra per each person to cover paypal fees) or you can email the money from your bank provided your bank has this service.

As we are in the north east and close to the airport you have a lot of choices of where you can stay for our event. To help you narrow the field of choice, here are three that are very close to our community hall ….each have a free airport shuttle. ;)

Melody Baziuk of Temple Massage Therapy is graciously donating 1/2 the amount of the massage to our charity. So are you going to sign up for $1.00 a minute? The appointment times will be scheduled in 10 min, 15 min, 20 min, 30 min, 40 min, 50 min, and 60 min increments. ONLY after you have paid for the Calgary Classic. You will pay for your massage after you receive it.
We will have the following general swaps: Mountable Card Fronts, 3D items, 12 x 12 scrapbook page, and our 2nd annual Inspiration swap.
We will be swapping in groups of 10 to ease the load a bit. For each group you will be making 10 items (or less if the groups are not full). If you want to bring +2 for Adelee and I, then you are welcome to, but it is not required.
All swaps are to be your best work, using quality cardstock and paper, clean, complete stamped images and at least one embellishment.
ONLY those that have PAID for CC2 can sign up for swaps. There is a limit of two swap places in each category until September 15, 2008 when we will open it up for more spots (space available).

INSPIRATION SWAP
Our Inspiration swap is keeping in line with our goal to raise money for the Alberta Heart and Stroke Fund.
These will be Full Cards with a minimum of 2 layers of quality cardstock. Again, groups of 10 – so you will make 10 Cards.
Theme: Giving (your card must reflect a “giving” theme – any occasion)
Challenges:
- You must use Red somewhere on your card
- You must use at least 1 embellishment BUT NO RIBBON- You must follow the attached template in the design of your card (remember you can rotate the template)

Secret Gift Exchange
It’s simple really!! Bring a gift, get a gift!! There is no need to sign up. The rules: Limit is $10, gift must be wrapped with a handmade card indicating who it is from. Gift must contain stamping, scrapbooking, papercrafting items including something handmade. Get creative, make a card set, some 3D items, a unique altered item – have some fun!!!
Make/give something you would love to receive.

As you know, lunch is provided on both Saturday and Sunday. You have a choice for each day's lunch. Please post here or PM Christine (NOT Adelee) with your choice.
IF I do not hear from people I will order a mixed order and you will be able to choose from that while quantities last.

I hope to be able to come to this! Question: how exactly does the weekend raise money for charity?
Also-- what will the space at the community centre be like? How many people to a table? Do most people scrap or stamp?
Great question -- there are a few ways in which we raise money for charity during the weekend #1. We have sponsors who have donated prises that we will raffle off during the course of the weekend....the money will go directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. #2. Any extra $ that we have left over from the weekend once our expenses for putting on the event have been sorted will added onto our donation total. #3. Some people just give a straight donation to the Heart and Stroke
We have a lg room of over 2500+ you will have a 6 ft x 2 ft table to share with one other person. We have them set up so that the other person sits staggered across from you. Beside you will be an extra chair for your bag... I hope that helps give you an idea. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask......
I forgot to answer part of your question -- there will be a mix of stampers and scrappers.... Last time there were more people making cards BUT who knows this year... I will be scrapping and Christine will be stamping....
Just subscribing for now, too much else to think of right now! My brain can only deal with so much at a time and it all depends on when I go to the UK in the fall!
I was scared for a minute when I saw the dates......I am going to Vegas on the 22nd to the 26th......PHEW!!!!!!!!!!! Let me know if you need me to do ANYTHING!!!! I don't mind helping out!

The Heart and Stroke was our charity last year too... we have decided to stick with the same cause for our event --just highlight it more.

I am so glad so many have found your way here already. We are thrilled to have you come - yey!!
For all those that don't know yet.... we would love to have you join us so hopefully it works out.
BTW - last year we earned over $400 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. We are shooting for more this year!!! This is a cause very near and dear to my heart. I have lost my father, and both sets of grandparents to heart and stroke problems.
