Tip Jars are a PayPal widget. Some readers like to express their appreciation for the information and knowledge shared on a particular blog, and if a Tip Jar is in place, they then have the option to leave a "tip" (nominal monetary donation of their choosing).
Tipping is, of course, entirely optional, not obligatory.
Most bloggers, including myself, and JanTink, continue to provide the content, regardless of whether or not readers make a contribution in support of it.
