I made one of those cute Advent calendars, I was so excited about it that I put it in the trunk of my car and took it to work to show some stampin' co-workers. I lifted it up out of my really cold trunk and ...do you know what happens when glue dots and velcro adhesive freeze?.... they cease to stick.
Good news though, when I got it back into a warm environment and put everything back where it belonged, the glue restuck fine.
Another lesson learned: It is a fact that the whole tin of Watercolor crayons, when very cold, will break into a million pieces when accidently dropped down a flight of stairs. I'm sure there would have been breakage if the watercolor crayons had been at room temperature, but these were smashed to smithereens! What's really the pits is I am a little color blind and count on the color descriptions on the crayon wrappers to know what color they are. DH watched as I was picking up the pieces and suggested I sweep 'em into the trash and order replacements... he doesn't have a clue how much they cost.

OH my - what a day! I feel for you. Also I would let hubby know that you re-orderd the WWC and tell him how much (even if you didn't) to see the look on his face.
Be careful what you wish for! Walking around in -40 weather, I used be jealous of the folks in the tropics for not having such cold weather. Now I live in Texas, where it's summer year round and so depressing at Christmastime!
I'm really glad your advent calendar could be easily resuscitated (sp??)!! Sorry to hear about the watercolour crayons, but I think your DH has the right idea; you deserve to work with intact WCC especially given your difficulty telling colours apart without the label! I couldn't imagine having to work with shards of colouring medium, myself. I think it would be quite frustrating and unenjoyable. Maybe let your DH know that it would be great if Santa could help out with a new set.
Sue - I FEEL YOUR PAIN! Good grief, thank goodness I'll never left anything in the FREEZING cold trunk of the car! I was just saying to DH how it would be nice if it could be around 30 degrees...so we could still have a little snow for Christmas but not freeze our behinds off!
Heat has its problems - we are also in Texas and this summer I left my tote in the car overnight after a crop - completely forgot about it until late in the afternoon - well most of my watercolor wonder crayons had gone very soft and misshapen and the glue on some of my stamps had heated up so much that rubber starting sliding off the wood!!!

I grew up in Central America - Guatemala to be exact, and to give you an idea of the weather, all I have to tell you is that it is called "The Land of the Eternal Spring". The weather is perfect! At the end of Dec., beginning of Jan. it will be cold (50's sometimes) and in March / April it is hot (80's). There are two seasons - dry wich we call summer and rainy wich we call winter.
When I moved to VA, I used to love the snow. Now after many years and 3 kids, I'm not so crazy about it. Not only it's cold but the days can be so dreary (depressing!). I would take our VA summers (sometimes upper 90's and humid) any time. I would actually love to move south where it is always hot!

Yep, all melted! It was 78 degrees here today, and all we want is snow! LOL
Speak for yourself, crazy lady! We were outside today with my younger dd, doing a science fair experiment involving the difference between temperature readings in the sun and in the shade. No jackets, just the way I like it in December!
It was pretty nice here in AZ today too! I think it was about 75. Just don't ask me how it is in the summer. Just a few weeks ago we were at 90 or above. Although I would like to be able to at least wear a sweater once this winter. ;)

I feel for you, and I agree with you too! I am sure that they would have shattered falling down the stairs anyway, but you're right - that cold weather makes it way worse. Since you really do depend on the labels for knowing the colors (wow, I admire you for stamping that way!), you should just take hubby's advice and order the replacements, but he probably doesn't have a clue how expensive they are. Order now, tell him $$ later - at least you can say he told you to! lol
Ahh, to be in Florida would be a gift right now. I miss Christmas with lights on the palm trees....
I'm with you about the cold but without cold there wouldn't be snow....and without snow you can't have snowdays!!! I got the call this morning at 6:20am. The buses were not running due to icy conditions and predicted snow squalls this morning. I can honestly say I love, love, love snow days, especially now that I work in a school that actually closes when 3 or more buses can't make it due to bad weather. I get to enjoy snow days with my daughter. YAY!!!

Gee, I've always wanted to live somewhere with 4 distinct seasons and have snow at Christmas...... In the Deep South we have 3 seasons: HOT, HOTTER, and HOTTEST! I'm such a southern girl, though, that I get cold if it's below 70. My hubby is from the Midwest, and he says I'd never make it up North! He insists I would have to wear a hat in Winter! Can you imagine that? That would mess up my hair, and we just can't have that! LOL!
Okay, I guess the grass always does seem greener.....

I want to move to Texas!! Boohoohoo, it is 28 outside right now!! I hate the cold!! My husband is going to Florida for the rest of the week and he wanted me to pack for him. I started to pack jeans and long sleeve shirts and had to stop to check the weather in FL, I forget it isnt butt freezing cold everywhere. You should see my poor puppy, she goes outside and shivers!!
I don't bother with a coat heading to and from work because I know it won't ever get too much cooler than ~5 C/41 F, and in the meantime all the born-and-bred Texans are pulling out the shearling jackets and coats with fur-trimmed hoods. Winter in Texas is when I take my fall coat out of the back of my closet and start keeping it in the car.
Well this is my first season change here at Hickam Air force Base in Hawaii. All I can say is it is WAY different. I am SUCH a fall person. I do so miss the season change with the leaves changing and the crisp air with a hot cup of coffee! Right now we are starting "The Rainy Season" here. Today my sinus are doing the "dance" on my face. B U T it is Beautiful here, cost of living is High, But I am such a beach person, I love the beach. My kids just don't understand why I tell them to be quite at the beach. I got to hear the ocean!
I will not leave my watercolor crayons out in the car. They just won't make it out here!
I do look forward to a White Christmas in another two years!

Wisconsin is really cold and snowy right now to. Last week it was still nice and somewhat warm. Saturday we got hit with a snowstarm and now it's cold and white outside. I like the snow until New Years Day and then after that I hate it. I keep thinking we are not even in the coldest and worst part yet. That is end of January and February are the very coldest for us. Then we will the -20 degree weather. I want to move south down by my Dad in Alalbama when the boys are grown in about another 6-8 years. My DH keeps reminding that I lived a few years in Fairbanks Alaska when I was a kid as my dad was in the Army and stationed at Fort Wayne Wright. He always tells me if I could handle that I can deal with Wisconsin. I tell the older I get, the colder I get!!
I live where it's hot and I'll swap you any time! They weren't crafting crayons but I once left my sons crayons in the car in the middle of summer and they all melted together LOL

You are making me jealous! I grew up in Hawaii. We lived on Hickam AFB for a total of eight years. Love it and miss it! I'd take warm weather year round. I don't get this whole winter thing. My idea of Christmas is spending it on the beach and cooking out with my family. Just my luck, I marry a guy from the freezing midwest.
