I am having problems with the corners, I can't get them to look nice like all the samples I have seen here. I downloaded the directions here and they have wrapped edges and was wondering if there was another way I am some how missing....mine do not look nice to me, I know I am my worst critic.....help me.....please....

Hello.

I made one of these once at a stamp camp. We used the corner rounder punch from Stampin' Up to round the cornerns of the comp book and make them look nice. Hope this helps. I will try and find a pic of the one we did.

I think that in the new issue of PaperCrafts mag they cut their corners, instead of wrapping/folding. They used a craft knife or x-acto. I had trouble with the wrap/fold thing too.

I have a pattern for a portfolio that I make and those directions have you cut off the corner, leaving about 1/4" from the corner of the book to the edge of the paper. Then you fold that in toward the corner of the book and glue it down and then fold down the top (or bottom) and glue it down. Repeat that on the other corner. Finally, fold in the side and glue it. It's hard to explain without pictures. I guess you'd cut it so that it goes from looking something like this: _l (pretend that's all connected) to looking more like this:
l
l
_/ (again, pretend that's all connected).

Is this the kind of book you were talking about? I found a pic of the one I made. We made this at a stamp camp with my upline. I can't remember if we used the large or small corner rounder though. This was really easy to do. Hope this helps.

Default I cut

I read the directions too and was lost on the folding thing, so I cut my covers to the exact size and used a corner rounder punch I bought at wal mart for 3 bucks. It is the exact right size. I just posted my 1st attemp in my gallery.

I knew this was the right place to ask...awesome. The corner ronder makes perfect sense, I have to check if the one I have is the size I need.

What a wonderfl pic Christi ...thanks everyone.

PS sorry for the goofy words...the letter between T and V doesn't work on my keyboard. It's making me crazy.

I just looked at your comp book. It is so cute! I need to buy some more of these to decorate as gifts. They are just so fun! I was so distracted earlier(with a sick kiddo) that I forgot to mention how we made the book. I cut the black cardstock to the exact size like texasjodylynn mentioned. I cut one piece for the front and then a separate one for the back. I think we just used some double sided tape to adhere them to the book so they would stay put...... and then the corner rounder to do the edges.

Thanks. Yes, I love this place! There are so many wonderful ideas here and very helpful people! This site is such a wonderful resource! Sorry about your keyboard....that would probably drive me nuts too. Let us know how your comp books turn out. I would love to see a picture.
