The challenge is in honor of all our teacher friends here at SCS. They have one of the most difficult and yet most important jobs in the world - preparing our children for adulthood. So in honor of there summer vacation that has just begun or about to begin we are making a card that resembles a book/journal!
THE CHALLENGE:
You may use a layout of one of the examples or create your own but your card MUST HAVE THE TABS/HINGES in about the same position that you see on the layout but its okay to flip the sketch just keep the hinges on what would be the spine of the book/journal.
Some suggestions:
You can use stamped hinges, word window tabs or rectangle shapes just to name a few. I know youll have some great choices I cant even begin to think of!

I had time this morning to do only one card, so I chose the bonus -- mainly because an idea immediately came to me. I had to flip the layout, but the 'hinges' are there -- and it does look like it could be a journal.
Here's mine! I just made this recently trying to figure out what to do different with my new tab punch. It's hard to see but the tabs are black on an "faux leather" embossed chocolate spine. There is a page inside for writing on.
TFL!

I was a little slow getting started, but I had fun with this bonus sketch. This one and the regular challenge for today were my first sketch challenges ... lots of fun!
My idea kind of changed mid-stream. Thanks, Roxie, for a bonus today. For the second time today you made me get out a seldom used tool - this time the Coluzzle oval. I need practice for that.
I don't have children so my card won't be going to a teacher - but I so wanted to take part in this bonus challenge - I LOVED making this card. What a fab idea.
Location: Living in Kansas, but my heart is at OSU with my DS!

What a fun challange Roxie!!! I had no idea where I was going to go with this but I kinda like the way it turned out. Even the DH thinks it looks like a book. I used ribbon and purse trim to make the binding. Actualy it was a very easy card to put together.
This was fun, I actually wanted to do this on a journal and you gave me "permission" to try the design on a card before I permanently decorate the journal.
